Some not so good news...
  • Pirate and Princess Party has walked the plank.
Became official within the past 48hrs. For some weird reason they did not want to make it known to guests yet in hopes that a last ditch effort a few dates may be able to be added. (If for some insane reason people begin to flood the parks and book huge amounts of rooms.)
  • The middle of Dec the full blown ads for "What Will You Celebrate?" will start. It is a multi-million dollar campaign that Disney already knows sucks and has bad timing but are still planning to go full steam ahead with.
  • During the Flower and Garden Fest the concerts have been cut to only 3 days a week. I belive it was Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All the concerts will be earlier this year as well.
  • After January the 1st all the parks will be closing earlier.
  • After January 1st big layoffs across WDW. I am sure they will not use the actuall term layoff to save face. The reservation centers are not being looked at for layoffs.....yet.
  • As always everything is subject to change. Who knows which way the wind will be blowing tomorrow.

We need time for things to happen.
I was...

wondering when the P&PP demise would become official.
That blows.......me down. :)

We had a great time at this last year. The fireworks were amazing, and it was nice having MK to ourselves.
Oh well, hopefully the economy will take a swing for the better and things
may change.

thank goodness P&P parties are a thing of the past!!!

Though sucks that MK is only opened till 9 the first quarter of 2009...atleast I'll get 2 extra hrs with my AP on nights that P&P parties were originally scheduled.

Sucks about the layoffs....Things will pick up eventually...probably in about 4 years.

good.. I'm glad there is a slight down-turn in attendance.. maybe I can finally get a dang ADR without having to stalk CRO.. face it.. wdw will NEVER be so bad off that they can't support themselves.. the resort is too popular...

from what I understand, the PNP parties stunk compared to the holiday affairs..
I'd rather they give me back the extra 2 hours a night then exclude it for a cruddy party with limited attendance..

More incentive to stay on Property Extra Magic Hours

the reduced hours have been update--not TOO terrible though I was surprised to see hours won't be extended much at all for Presidents Week or in March. All of this was to be expected though. It will certainly make EMH more valuable though.

Wow, Disney must really be hurting. How does this economic climate compare to the months following 9/11?

Well back then it delayed the opening of Pop Century by a few years, completely closed Caribbean Beach for a few months and Port Orleans for almost a year. So we have a way to go to get that bad.

I'm not surprised by anything list above, but I do think the Pirate and Princess Party has a chance for a more limited run during the dates previously released (or on a shortened schedule). I'm not placing any bets, but the event was profitable enough to warrant a far more limited run.

Pirates and Princess was the dumbest thing ever im so happy its leaving. Can they also get rid of Mickeys halloween party and that dumb christmas stuff as well? The holiday stuff should be included with your regular park ticket not a seperate hardticket event!

Also, I hope the layoffs start with Meg crofton and Phil holmes who have been nothing but problems for Walt Disney World! Especially Phil Holmes who has done more damage to the magic kingdom park than a person can possibly imagine.

Well, the latest P&P parties were profitable. The first round did so poorly that nobody thought Disney would bring them back.

I don't know about that first part, Enigma. Ever been to the Halloween party? That extra price of admission buys you some stuff that isn't covered in the regular budget. The separate hard ticket admission is well worth the price and the revenue presumably allows them to dress up the park with extra effects, a separate parade and fireworks show, extra rare characters, a Villains mix and mingle party at Cinderella's Castle, and probably some other things I'm forgetting right now.

Without it, the park would probably close early that time of year anyway so I don't see that the day visitors are missing out.

Nothing too bad P&P I sensed was going. a bit OT: but the only thing that bothers me about the park hr. cuts is as a AP holder EMH desn't help us at all so we can't make up for hr. cuts the same way resort guest can. I almost wish there was a EMH add on option for AP holders but I know the problems that would cause so it will never happen.

P&P was on the way out; I was surprised to see it advertised again for next year. I guess this was the reason they needed.

Sadly I won`t see M3 in person :(
