BLT:
A sandwich consisting traditionally of bacon, lettuce, and tomato, and traditionally also using a bit of mayonnaise. Variations have been created.

I don't know why you want this definition, it's kinda... (looks at post above)

Oops. *ahem* BLT stands for Bay Lake Tower.

(kicks himself)

It is an iconic symbol of the Walt Disney World. The first resort ever to be constructed
Second. The Contemporary wasn`t complete until January 1972

The rooms swap out is urban myth; once inserted they were never designed to be removed. The garden wings were built traditionally.

The monorail has travelled a dead end route before; in 1985 the loop layout was closed for the Grand Floridian station to be built. Not that they`d need to do this again anytime soon.

Ah, the voice of reason.;)

If you believe this I bet you also believe the towers can come down off the Castle in case of a hurricane, or that Walt's head really is frozen underneath the castle.

The contemporary isn't going anywhere. I'm sure there's some structural issues that will have to be dealt with over time like there are with any old building, but its not sinking into a sinkhole or anything like that.

Thanks, the CR is awesome and irreplaceable.

I've made it my mission in life to crush this story. Not true. It was never, ever the intention that the room would come out once they were welded in place.

The following is an except from a "WDW Myths" article that appeared in Eyes & Ears, the WDW cast newspaper, in five installments during the first half of 1997.

Outlandish? Most certainly!

Completely out of the question? Not really.

Chances that this rumor is entirely true? Slim to none. :) Not saying that I believe this, but c'mon, its not as bad as others we have heard. Well, the tearing down of the entire Contemporary tower is, yes, absurd, but then again, many of us feel that way about Horizons. :lookaroun

Point is, its not completely out of the question that the CR is slowly sinking. We know the ground in the area is rather soft and unstable (look at the failed Venetian Resort), so some part of this rumor could contain a grain truth. You just have to ease up on the salt to see it. :D

From the beginning I questioned what disney's "true" intenstions were in regards to the tower's design and construction.

Comparing this to other DVC "add ons" at resorts... the tower doesn't follow suit so to speak. The BWV, BCV, WLV, and now AKLV were all constructed to compliment their sister resorts... and executed wonderfully in regards to this.

Of course a resort like the Contemporary provides a huge challenge... and I'm sure we could dig up the "Shock and Awe" threads in regards to Disney's final decision on design.

It's an icon in my opinion... but next to a flashy new tower... I question which structure will soon become the true "eye sore"... and potentially this is some of Disney's thinking too.

The contemporary will always hold a special place on the lagoon skyline for most of us here...

Would I expect something like this to happen within the next few years? Hardly... A possibility for the furture of the disney property? Definately.

So the CMs "Missions in Life" must be to spread the rumor that the rooms come out like drws, cause all the bartenders at CR as well as some of the staff still talk about Walts Vision to have them slide in and out for remodeling purposes........

I hope you are joking with this statement. I am not as knowlegeable as most on this board but even I know that CM's "stories" are to be taken with a grain of salt. I'm sure Walt's Vision to have them slide in and out is an urban myth that CM's love to spread to gullible visitors who believe that bartenders and other hotel staff are in the know about all things Disney.

In any case, as long as they don't demolish it before next July I'm happy. 185 days and counting!

It's crap like this that gives fans a bad name and makes these sites less than they could/should be.

Rest assured no matter what you've heard that the Contemporary isn't sinking (at least any more than any building in Central FLA) and that there are NO, ZERO, NADA, NONE plans for removing the main building, which is in the midst of multi-year very expensive upgrading (and that doesn't include the new BLT, just the Tower and Contemporary South).

The sad thing is while it appears that 98% of the people here are smart enough to realize the folly in it that some fanboy or CM will pick up on this and it will take on a life of its own ... just like the monorail 'holes' left in Swan and Dolphin ... or the removable turrets on Cindy's Castle ... or RC being closed due to killer bacteria in the water ... or any of the other dozens of popular fanboys/CM/urban myths that have taken on lives of their own thanks to the Internet.

Congrats! You just started a new one!

I'd rather the realistic doom and gloom than phoney crap made up by CMs with the IQ of room temp in the Arctic in winter.

I think that was a little uncalled for...

Rumors are Rumors... and it makes this site "fun" imho to check into on a regular basis. Definate facts are something that most people can find on ANY disney fan site... rumors and "he said/she said" are what makes this site different from those... there's always speculation... and this site seems to be the "first in the know" in regards to some topics because of such rumors in the past.

Sure... they're may be no plans right-this-second for the main building to go anywhere... but the CR sits on a pretty nice piece of Disney property (if not the best)... and I wouldn't be surprised if Disney capitalizes on it more.

Sinking or not... I think the overal topic brings up an interesting discussion.

Then maybe you should start your own forum. I, for one, am getting sick of your condescending manor as well as you opinions.

Yes, you are entitled to your opinion...as are the rest of us on this board. Name calling is not needed.

Ok here I go adding my 2 cents. :dazzle:

If the CR was sinking into a "sinkhole" would WDC build another tower just as tall 50' away? I really think they would be smarter than spend upwards of $50 mil on a pending disaster!! :hammer:

Masteryoda I agree that if BLT sells quick that we will see a south BLT which will balance out the resort. I believe this must already be in the works planning wise.

What?!?!?! RC *wasn't* closed due to killer bacteria in the water???

With many people chiming in with hard information that contradicts the CM rumor, it sounds like this thread has run it's course. I'm glad it was posted, as the discussions actually brought up and answered a few questions for me. :)

I agree with your message but not the tone (no surprise there.)

Reminds me of the popular Cedar Point myth that Magnum is sinking. Do you guys really thing Disney/CP poured millions into these projects and DIDN'T get expert opinions from soil engineers?
