Thanks Spence! I believe you can confirm that the GF is sinking, as we saw near the elevators with the rather LARGE crack in the wall. I guess that's what happens when you build on a man-made piece of land on a man-made lake...

I couldnt agree more The Hancock Tower was sinking and shifting in Boston after they built it so bad widows were popping out, another place where they filled in swampy ocean to build on. Same things happen in Manhattan.

Ive been on this forum for some time I usually dont post cause someone always has a forced opinion, like you are doing to me, If I want to beleive it or not I will. Your forcing your opinion that CM rumors should not be posted, HEY thats your opinion, I really honestly feel that if it bothers you that much you should SUGGEST A RULE NOT TO POST CM RUMORS. I posted a rumor in the rumor section, it's a rumor take it or leave it as I have posted previously, rumors are up for discussion. As for the friendlyness I'm not feelin it.

As for a valued member I am one already I passed information that I was told while here In Disney.

As for the people you fear will immediatly beleive the post? Guess what,? Thats there opinion and there right.

I will think twice or 3 times about posting in the future. I was unaware that rumors had rules.......

I mean that in all due respect. I didnt post to aggravate people, I for one thought it could be a feasable plan with The Contemporary in the future as all things have a lifespan, sometimes its cheaper to start fresh and rebuild from the ground up. Thats how I interpeted the rumor. (Being a Plumber on big jobs such as the scope of The Contemporary, leads me to my opinion)

You heard it came from a CM so it has no value whatsoever in your opinion, which last I knew you were entitled to. As I am entitled to my opinion.

Perhaps it would be best in your eyes if we lock or remove this thread alltogether?

I'm sorry my rumor has bothered you so much. I'm feeling a bit sorry I posted it.

Listen, I'm not attacking you. I want you to be a valued member here. Its just that most people go to Disney and hear some outlandish rumor from a CM such as "The rooms were meant to be removed from the Contemporary, or the holes in the swan and dolphin were for monorail lines, or the turrets come off the castle in case of hurricanes" and then come here all excited to spread the new rumor.

Most CMs are clueless when it comes to actual news and so they spread these myths. They don't do it on purpose, but they hear it from someone who's been their longer than them and they take it as gospel, they're then excited to tell other CMs who come in or guests this information and things get way out of control.

You did tell us that it came from a CM though so you did your part. My post is for all these people in this thread who are immediately believing what you've posted because it came from a CM. CM's are not credible, 99% of them have no real sources, and know less than we do on here because they don't take the time to research these supposed rumors like we fanatics do. I'm just trying to stop the spreading of this rumor before it takes off like wildfire across the interwebs.

Welcome to WDWMagic though. Take some time, get to know everyone here. We're actually a fairly friendly bunch for the most part. We're all just a bit rabid about what we love and we all handle that rabidness in different ways.

Take it easy on CM's. It can happen with any rumor, especially if it is repeated a lot, it is not the same rumor that it started with, and it depends on the CM. Is it a part time, temporary worker or a College Program or an International Program CM? Those probably have the least amount of info and more rumors.

Or like Magical Express bus drivers, they are Mears Transportation Group employees, not Disney CM's or the ones who drive LBV area hotel shuttles and buses, just because they are driving Disney painted buses doesn't mean they are Disney employees.

Also, A lot of times, there are projects in the works, I have seen many concept drawings, blueprints, materials, and outside contractors starting work on projects on improvements or new installations. Then all of a sudden everything is stopped and abandoned, sometimes things were in the planning stages for years and everything was a go. Then someone in California decided to stop or quit funding the project for whatever reason. Then people get laid off or assigned to other projects. Then people think that CM was making things up because it never happened even though it was supposed to.

It's crap like this that gives fans a bad name and makes these sites less than they could/should be.

Rest assured no matter what you've heard that the Contemporary isn't sinking (at least any more than any building in Central FLA) and that there are NO, ZERO, NADA, NONE plans for removing the main building, which is in the midst of multi-year very expensive upgrading (and that doesn't include the new BLT, just the Tower and Contemporary South).

The sad thing is while it appears that 98% of the people here are smart enough to realize the folly in it that some fanboy or CM will pick up on this and it will take on a life of its own ... just like the monorail 'holes' left in Swan and Dolphin ... or the removable turrets on Cindy's Castle ... or RC being closed due to killer bacteria in the water ... or any of the other dozens of popular fanboys/CM/urban myths that have taken on lives of their own thanks to the Internet.

I'd rather the realistic doom and gloom than phoney crap made up by CMs with the IQ of room temp in the Arctic in winter.

Like I said, I'm sorry I posted at all, The Cm that told me I'm sure would be upset if I told him he was Clueless (knicole stated CMS are clueless,) he has been here for over ten years, I have seen and talked to him every trip since I have started coming here, 9 times in 4 years. (He is a staple here) Went to his home once and looked at some plumbing issues he had in his place while his girl cooked my wife and I dinner. Had a wonderful evening with them both. He always makes our trips a little more special. I tend to beleive that he has a clue. I would hate to say Hey &*()$ you are clueless and have no idea what your talking about. But thats just me.

I've made it my mission in life to crush this story. Not true. It was never, ever the intention that the room would come out once they were welded in place.

The following is an except from a "WDW Myths" article that appeared in Eyes & Ears, the WDW cast newspaper, in five installments during the first half of 1997.

And I'll agree with WDW1974, that forums laced with silly urban legends masked as rumors like this, tend to dumb down sites. But if the site ownership is fine with them, then you really can't come in here proclaiming that they stop.

However, just to make sure this story is legit, I'm going to ask the Dippin' Dots guy.

This is a message board. If a person posts bad information, it might hurt their individual credibility but how does that impact the value of the overall board?

Besides, IMHO it only hurts credibility if the rumor was presented as fact or from a very credible source when it's not. In this case, the poster presented the rumor for what it was - take it or leave it.

Personally when I see a post that says "A CM said this" I know to take it with a grain of salt. When one of the old veterans of the board say they heard something from a credible source, I view that with more seriousness.

But you never know, which is why these posts are fun. I had a boat driver tell me the tree house villas were going to be rebuilt into DVC units 6 months before I saw anything on this board. I didn't trust the information and didn't post it here, but if I had I would have had the early scoop!

You also failed to mention that this particular CM was a friend.

I do apoligize I will try harder in the future to classify my CMs, perhaps you can give me a list or help me with catagorizing them, perhaps, beleivable CMs, non beleivable CMs, Cms that are friends etc.

On a side note its cloudy, around 68 suppose to warm up down here. Tower of Terror has had only right side shaft running for last 3 days. Light crowds walked right up to Japan for Dinner last night also had availabilty at Rose N Crown. No chance at Le Celliar walk up or calling for ADRS( I'm sure someone will now argue or doubt the side note I'm leaving, BTW that info came from me not a CM):ROFLOL:

I think you're loosing all sense or credibility with the amount of arguing and lashing out you are doing. Even if this is a rumor...as for the CM being a friend, that is a big deal because people are more inclined to believe something they heard from a friend than they are a complete stranger. usually...

But this rumor is definitely a rumor and not an urban legend...the Urban Legend would be that the pods for the rooms at the CR were designed to be removed for remodeling...the RUMOR is that the CR is sinking...Maybe I need to post official definitions of the 2 words..

by the way...maybe wdw1974 is merf...

Again, why the need to be a smart a$$. If you have been on this site for as long as you claim, you know that that term is often used in a derogatory manner. If you did not mean it that way, then I apologize. However, I fail to see why you keep being defensive. I simply said that Kcnole seemed to extend an olive branch to you, but you chose to not take it.

Knowing the CM does make a difference. It implies that you know something about their character and that they are not just some random person. No list or insulting remarks are necessary.

Well, for my part in this discussion... I do not believe that the structure is in any danger of sinking, etc. that would create the necessity for a complete structure replacement.

However, I can see Disney deciding at some distant point in the future to remove the current A-Frame structure as it really isn't "Contemporary" anymore and replacing it with something that matches the new BLT. Another wing in the BLT structure with a central, larger round main building makes perfect sense in the "Mickey from the air" scenario.

It my my understanding that the Monorail track section that pierces the Contemporary is completely free-standing and independent of the structure of the hotel itself. This would suggest that its perfectly feasable to take down the Contemporary and rebuild another structure around the monorail line without effecting the monorails structure or layout whatsoever.
