New Frozen Show replacing Aladdin at DCA

A lot of us can't stand Frozen because it is EVERYWHERE. I didn't mind the movie at first, I never thought it was great, including the music, but it's been nearly two years since it was released, and now I hate it. Disney has put its sole focus into Frozen and it's starting to cloud their already not so great judgement. So far at the DLR, Frozen has replaced Tangled and Beauty and the Beast at Fantasy Faire, one of the movie references in Storybook, the Muppets, Mad T Party (Freeze the Night was a complete failure and thankfully Mad T was brought back), the majority of the character drawings in the Animation Courtyard, and now Aladdin, which pretty much doesn't have any recognition at all in the parks, especially after this decision. Frozen has its own window on Main Street, has its own pre-parade float in Soundsational, has the tallest float in Paint the Night, and its own segment in Disneyland Forever. The whole damn "Let it Go" song is in World of Color: Celebrate!. The. WHOLE. Song. That alone is unforgivable. All of the souvenir sippers at the snack carts have been Frozen-themed for two years. There's also a Frozen sing-along in DCA. Oh, and about a month ago, I found out the IHOP across the street from the DLR has Frozen posters hanging in both the men and women's bathrooms. Forgive us for being sick and tired of the Frozen nonsense.

Disney has had two animated films come out since Frozen, yet it's like they don't exist. I've had it with this IP. There's already too much representation of this film in DCA. The madness must end. I received a survey in regards to the DLR a few days ago to which I haven't started. Thank God I haven't, I am going HAM on it this weekend.

Good. The Aladdin show is super fun, but these shows need to come and go! It's been, what, 13 years?

Frozen? Cool, it is still one of the most popular new animated films, so why not have a show for fans?

Is Frozen overkill happening? Maybe. I'm a huge Maelstrom fan, so Frozen's takeover of that has me perturbed, but a show?
It is the kind of Park Attraction Frozen should have had FIRST.

I honestly believe the show will eventually come to Disney's Hollywood Studios.

There's no way that's happening with the current theaters WDW has. They'd have to build a new theater on par with the 2,000 seat Hyperion Theatre.

For the Westerners unfamiliar with WDW here, the current Theater of the Stars at DHS is very similar to Disneyland's Fantasyland Theatre (except with humidity). The Beauty & The Beast stage show has been performing there in that theater since March, 1991. For those keeping score at home, Disneyland's Fantasyland Theatre has had 8 different shows offered there in the last 24 years that Beauty & The Beast has performed in Theater of the Stars. America has had four Presidents since 1991. Babies born in 1991 are now grown, graduated from college, married, and having babies of their own.

(Yes, those are metal bleachers. No, you don't want to sit on them for 50+ minutes for Aladdin.)

To install and perform a show on the scale and format of Aladdin, WDW would need to build a huge new indoor theater like the Hyperion Theatre. But that's not happening at DHS.

An original play/musical that centers around different California landmarks/locations would have been neat and different. If well-written with good characters and plot, something like that would be way better than Disney movies musicals at the Hyperion.

In regards to other users' complaints about the jokes in the Aladdin show, while I do understand why people would be annoyed by the Genie's jokes about Justin Bieber and what have you, I like that the Aladdin show has jokes that weren't in the movie. It's kind of like how in Broadway productions of The Lion King, they have Zazu saying, "This wasn't in the cartoon!" or singing "Let It Go" instead of "It's a Small World". One of the problems I have with the Finding Nemo musical is that they don't do something like that (though they do have the funny joke with the flying penguins).

Gah. I'd rather have them bring BLAST! back than Frozen. Actually, with the upcoming live action B&B, surprised they aren't looking to a more Broadway-oriented show.

Forgive me for being ignorant, but what does 'BLAST!' stand for?

However knowing Disney the will probably keep both Frozen shows.

Somehow, I doubt the sing-along is going anywhere.

Fan outrage didn't cancel Toy Story. Toy Story was canceled because it's a god-awful show and someone in TDA eventually thought better of bringing it over.

I'm guessing Toy Story Mania opening had something to do with it, too.

I like that idea. Can someone at Disney get on that?

A play of California would definitely not work at all unless it features characters from Disney. That would be one crappy play. I have yet to see all of Frozen and can't stand it being place all over the parks, but they are catering to what is popular now. People who don't visit Disney often want to see stuff that are popular now and what they are familiar with. The only attraction guests enjoyed from the original opening of DCA was Soarin over Californrnia. No one is going to care about a California musical.

That is just one big pile of nonsense. If people only want what they know they never would have seen Frozen in the first place. The failure of Disney's California Adventure have to do with execution and specific content, not the general idea.

I didn't say a play about California, I said a play taking place in California locations. There's a difference. Also, you're wrong about DCA 1.0's failure.

The Hyperion is in Hollywood Land. Something taking place in 1920's Los Angeles would spark interest.

Even so, I doubt Iger would approve of an attraction that isn't based on an existing property. I think the last one we've had was Expedition Everest.

How about a play about the people of California? There could be different segments abut migrant farm workers wanting equal rights or under aged Chinese railroad workers blasting rock from mountain sides or even people panning for gold. It could be narrated by the Spirit of California! It would have the same format as Epcot's America Adventure! Sounds like a guaranteed hit to me.

Igor has said as much, but his desires are irrelevant to the myriad numbers of so-called Disney park fans who also consider themed entertainment to be a lowly form of entertainment not worthy of any actual consideration.

You know another thing I couldn't stand about the Aladdin show? They didn't have Abu! They literally altered the line in "One Jump Ahead" to remove the reference to him. The off-model elephant they paraded around doesn't count.
