New Frozen Show replacing Aladdin at DCA

Yes, but there's a REASON why Aladdin has been around for 12 years: it's been nothing but a massive hit. People love it! "Aladdin" features much-loved characters, exotic settings and some of the best-loved songs in the entire Disney canon: "A Whole New World", "Friend Like Me", "Prince Ali" and the like. Let's face it: the only song from "Frozen" that most people known is "Let it Go", and the only characters they like are Anna, Elsa and Olaf.

Not only that, but this show may serve for some as a window into learning more about 2D animation. We're in an age where CGI is pretty much the only form of animation you ever see. Kids see "Aladdin", then they go see the movie when they return home from Disneyland, and that expands their interest in 2D animation. If we shoehorn in "Frozen", that's just one more blatant advertisement for CGI.
Arendalle into Norway requires a big shoehorn. Frozen into a Broadway style Theater seems to be a perfect fit content and theme wise.

Ehh Aladdin had a good run. I still think there are other films that are would be way more interesting as a Broadway style musical but that's just me. I don't really mind the change though.

I'm really hoping that this pushes them to refurb the theatre as a whole. Both the outside and inside are very tacky looking to be honest and don't match the theme that they're going for ( although much of hollywoodland doesn't either)

I hope Olaf doesn't become the de facto Genie and make pop culture jokes. That's one of my biggest problems with Aladdin - the Genie breaks the fourth wall constantly in this winking, cloying fashion that only works for Robin Williams. It's a cheap trick to fill time and make up for deficiencies in the show's script and staging. Pretend you didn't notice the cheap, cheesy effects while laughing at this oh-so-timely Glee joke!

I'd much prefer a straight, no audience talking show where the story is well told and the staging is incredible. Hopefully Frozen will be that.

There's also a disturbing trend emerging where newer fans think the parks should never change. Sorry kids - that's not how it works. I've seen lots of "it was there on my first visit" comments about Aladdin and that's not a legitimate reason to keep a stage show running forever. It's the same syndrome that affects a lot of MSEP fans. Sorry, time marches on and entertainment is not equal to attractions. Entertainment has to be changed out and freshened.

Otherwise you end up with Disney's Hollywood Studios, a park where 20-25 year old shows dot the landscape. No thanks.

News Flash! Frozen is a rip off of Wicked. Wicked plays pretty darned well in a Broadway Theater style setting. This should be pretty good, and about the only way, at this point, to get me to sit through that story again.

A lot of us can't stand Frozen because it is EVERYWHERE. I didn't mind the movie at first, I never thought it was great, including the music, but it's been nearly two years since it was released, and now I hate it. Disney has put its sole focus into Frozen and it's starting to cloud their already not so great judgement. So far at the DLR, Frozen has replaced Tangled and Beauty and the Beast at Fantasy Faire, one of the movie references in Storybook, the Muppets, Mad T Party (Freeze the Night was a complete failure and thankfully Mad T was brought back), the majority of the character drawings in the Animation Courtyard, and now Aladdin, which pretty much doesn't have any recognition at all in the parks, especially after this decision. Frozen has its own window on Main Street, has its own pre-parade float in Soundsational, has the tallest float in Paint the Night, and its own segment in Disneyland Forever. The whole damn "Let it Go" song is in World of Color: Celebrate!. The. WHOLE. Song. That alone is unforgivable. All of the souvenir sippers at the snack carts have been Frozen-themed for two years. There's also a Frozen sing-along in DCA. Oh, and about a month ago, I found out the IHOP across the street from the DLR has Frozen posters hanging in both the men and women's bathrooms. Forgive us for being sick and tired of the Frozen nonsense.

Disney has had two animated films come out since Frozen, yet it's like they don't exist. I've had it with this IP. There's already too much representation of this film in DCA. The madness must end. I received a survey in regards to the DLR a few days ago to which I haven't started. Thank God I haven't, I am going HAM on it this weekend.

WOW, I'd tell you to CHILL at the risk of making a Frozen pun and having you burst a blood vessel. So why is it so popular with the kids? Is it an Adult vs. Kid thing

I'm glad I got to see Aladdin last year at the Hyperion. But I don't mind something new coming in. While I agree that there is an oversaturation of Frozen in the parks, I am not anti-Frozen in general. I kinda like Olaf. I think the show could be well done and enjoyable.

I'm fine with Frozen in the theater as long as the Muppet building gets something new in it. I would love to see it combined with the millionaire building for RocknRollercoaster staring the Electric Mayham Band.

However knowing Disney the will probably keep both Frozen shows.

You know, this isn't the first time "Aladdin" was scheduled to close. There were plans to replace it with "Toy Story: The Musical" (a show from the Disney Cruise Line), but fan outrage was too strong. Then, there were rumors about "Tangled" replacing the show, but that never came to pass.

So, I believe that if fan outrage reaches a record high, Disney may cancel those plans. But, then again, Iger and his goons seem pretty much fixated on milking out this cash-cow till the point of no return. But, I still think the fans' petitions and protests could work...

...after all, Aladdin has three wishes, and the first two have been spent...

Fan outrage didn't cancel Toy Story. Toy Story was canceled because it's a god-awful show and someone in TDA eventually thought better of bringing it over. There were never plans for Tangled - I don't know where people got that one. That has been rumored for DHS and finally surfaced on DCL.

When DH and I saw Frozen in the theater, we were not very impressed and were amazed that it became so popular. Little girls loved the princesses- I understand that. But, do boys and adults? I mean, I don't see much in it for anyone other than the little girls, who I know drive a lot of merchandise purchases by parents and grandparents. Is it still that popular with little girls? I am truly surprised and perplexed by this whole Frozen frenzy.

True it is everywhere! However I am not so sure if it because it is super popular or simply because it is in the clearance stores at cheap prices! There is defiantly an over abundant supply of cheap Frozen merchandise in the stores. My 5yr dd is just not that into Frozen and honestly neither are her friends. Belle and Cinderella still reign supreme with her. The Frozen stuff is just jammed in their faces and when it is on an end cap for a $1 they know their chances are good.

I just don't understand of all the IP's why not choose something a bit more gender neutral.
