New Frozen Show replacing Aladdin at DCA

I didn't say a play about California, I said a play taking place in California locations. There's a difference. Also, you're wrong about DCA 1.0's failure.

The Hyperion is in Hollywood Land. Something taking place in 1920's Los Angeles would spark interest.
I worked at Disneyland at that time. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm taking about. Guest would tell me while I worked at Disneyland that they didn't care for DCA because of the lack of attractions, the quality of them, and they are already in California so why visit a park about California .

Can they at least finally get rid of that Pee-Wee's Big Adventure fake backdrop?

The main issue with DCA was the cheap quality, which guests complained about. Sure, we found it to be redundant, but the ill feelings towards the park mainly stemmed from its lack of quality on pretty much everything, not the fact that it was redundant. If that were the case, Soarin' Over California would have never been as popular as it was.

Igor has said as much, but his desires are irrelevant to the myriad numbers of so-called Disney park fans who also consider themed entertainment to be a lowly form of entertainment not worthy of any actual consideration.

For what it's worth, I'm okay with attractions based on existing properties.

You know another thing I couldn't stand about the Aladdin show? They didn't have Abu! They literally altered the line in "One Jump Ahead" to remove the reference to him. The off-model elephant they paraded around doesn't count.
He's not in the Broadway show either. Make of that what you will.

And I have to disagree with my friends here like @raven24 because I think this is actually good news. Aladdin has been there for 12+ years. It was clever and fun when it opened in 2003. Solid and steady in 2007. But by 2010 it was time to move on and do something new. Stage shows can't run forever, or else you end up like DHS with dusty old shows from the 1990's that just feel and look tired.

Agree with this 100% TP. My biggest problem with Disney parks in general is that too often the offerings feel stale. Sure, it's great when you're a fan and you can visit and experience familiar attractions and shows over and over and over, but the parks are much more interesting when they are evolving and relevant. A Frozen musical coming to the Hyperion was inevitable. Everyone should have seen this coming.

Another petition update! At time of typing, the petition is up to 14,413 supporters--587 away from 15,000!

I think we're making good progress here!

I don't really buy the argument that DCA 1.0 was met with a tepid response from guests because of the California theme. More than ever it's still a park about California and attendance numbers are through the roof.

By the way, how many supporters would it take to save the show?

How much longer would you want Aladdin to play? 5, 10, 20 years or more? The show is one of my favorites, but by the time the park's overhaul was completed a few years ago the production felt like it had run its course. Maybe they can move the production to DHS or DSP?

Given what the fans are saying, I'm sure they'd want the show to run forever.

And I do agree with your idea of moving the show to DHS...they've got tons of theaters to work with. The Theater of the Stars (home of Beauty and the Beast) could be re-worked and turned into a Broadway-esque theater which could play the show; the Premiere Theatre's been sitting dormant since Frozen moved to the former American Idol theater; there's a new theater being built nearby Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Voyage of the Little Mermaid's being rumored to close, so maybe the show could replace that.
