New Crypt Queue in Haunted Mansion-What do you think?

You also have to remember that the "weathering" of the paint jobs often doesn't happen until one of the final steps in the installation process. So while some things may look shiney and new at this moment, it may look worn and weathered by the time the new queue opens.

As for painting FX, I understand the painting process. I have my BFA with an emphasis in painting. Still even the painting FX are off...like I said compare photos of Madame Leotas grave to the original stones. No matter how much faux glazing techniques you use, it still looks off. . . then they have to paint everything else in order to match and then we get some odd colors happening that are in essence just trying to hard to be something they're not.

As for balance, explain to me where that balance is in this new queue? This queue is nothing small, it's not just glaring it's staring!

I strongly disagree...all things can look like they've been there from the get go, even enhancements. It can look completely in place... Imagineers can do ANYTHING, so why can't they make that crypt look like a real crypt and not something out of a Scooby Doo attraction at Kings Island....

I think it looks pretty neat. When this project first started, I was apprehensive, but now I feel much better. It'll be great to walk through this for the first time (whenever that might be).

Very interested to see how this queue unfolds. I'm hoping it'll give an errier, creepier feel to jthe mansion. Should be fun to experiece during the MNSSHP this year...can't wait!

Two things:

1. Not 'anything'.

2. HM isn't supposed to be supposed to be super realistic. Its supposed to be cartoony and funnt.

My 2 cents: i'm all for enhancements but when then enhancements lessen the theme I get worried. Right now it's hard to tell from the pictures online and since no official concept art has been released I may end up eating my words. I just feel that the new crypt looks extremely stylized an in a way overly designed. How much detail does one need to add in order to represent a ghost inside the mansion?

The mansion was a realistic place so I believe these new crypt should be believable/realistic and not look so animated-like. It seems they're packing a ton of detail into a small place. I think one rule was create turn-ons and avoid overloads???? This to me seems way overloaded and in a tight space.

It would be like adding detail to Expedition Everest that looks like it was designed to fit into toontown. Of course the gestalt would be off and we all could tell right away. I think all of us are excited for new enhancements which are making us overlook the basic theme and feel of the mansion.

I'm all for new queue technology that helps support the story. I like progress...progress that is themed correctly and doesn't look like the odd man out.

Anyone can agree that before this new queue started taking shape which tombstone looked like it didn't belong? Which one was a shinny new cadillac and which ones where classic model t-fords?

If you read the history of the mansion, there was a lot of discussion before building it over whether the mansion should be realistic scary or funny scary...they compromised with half being realistic and half being tongue-in-cheek. Why should the queue be any less?

I think what they have now is better than just plain scrims, and even better than closing the attraction completely, but I hope that the end products involves physical hitchhiking ghosts rather than a reworked version of the projected ghosts or (worse) no hitchhiking ghosts at all, replaced by a new set of hitchhikers: Iago, Zazu, and Stitch. :ROFLOL:

With that said, I have a fair amount of confidence that Disney would not pay to ruin the Haunted Mansion. Neglect it until it falls apart, maybe, but they wouldn't do it by refurbishing it.

They are just going to rent homeless guys to sit in the buggy with you. Watch out or they'll followyou home

I hope they add fog/mist machines like the outside queue of the ToT. That would just add so much to this area. Awesome green and purple ambient lighting would just put it over the top ;)

Are these the three new ghosts you'll be interacting with in the queue line? Why didn't they just use the hitchhiking ghosts if they needed a trio? I just don't understand why they would create 3 new characters rather than build on the story of three established characters.

They are not new characters at all but rather characters who used to play a bigger role in the ever-changing "story" of HM.

The new additions look awesome, way better than the 40 year old animatronics. At the time when HM opened in 71 the ghosts in the mirrors was cutting edge technology, everyone ooh'd and ahh'd over that. These animated characters bring the HM into this century. Hopefully they will use the technology to update the Master Gracey Portrait over the fireplace, and replace the outdated paintings lining the first hallway. Those paintings and the old spider scene I always compared to cheap carnival dark rides of the 1970's. I know that the HM purists will say that they are changing too much but to me, it is progress that makes my favorite attraction better!!!.
