New Crypt Queue in Haunted Mansion-What do you think?

The new additions look awesome, way better than the 40 year old animatronics. At the time when HM opened in 71 the ghosts in the mirrors was cutting edge technology, everyone ooh'd and ahh'd over that. These animated characters bring the HM into this century. Hopefully they will use the technology to update the Master Gracey Portrait over the fireplace, and replace the outdated paintings lining the first hallway. Those paintings and the old spider scene I always compared to cheap carnival dark rides of the 1970's. I know that the HM purists will say that they are changing too much but to me, it is progress that makes my favorite attraction better!!!.

Its my understanding that He will be getting an update, not sure of the timeframe on that, also the bride is also getting some much needed help, personally im not a fan of the New (left side) bride, perhapse they will take a blend of the both and put her back on the right :D

I'm not a fan of the new bride because the projected face doesn't blend with the rest of the ride. Somehow, Madame Leota's face and the singing busts work well (perhaps because they're only heads?); but the new bride looks like a mannequin with a projector. Of course, I remember the old one being really cheesy, too.

I'm pretty sure the Hatbox Ghost is eventually going to be installed on the right side. If we say it enough, it's bound to happen. ;)

The Master Gracey projection was upgraded back in 2007. BTW' the work of Marc Davis NEVER goes out of date.

i was thinking how awful the bride looked actually.. the face is way too bright, on both the big bride and the little bride. i don't remember them being so bright and false looking.

I love the bride, I love Master Gracie's portrait and I love the Hall of Portraits. The only think I think could use some updating is the addition of the Hat box Ghost.

Does anyone know what Disney is going to do to hide the HM show building? I'd assume they will just plant trees back there and hope it grows in enough to camoflauge it. Or will they put some sort of backdrop back there or something?

Also, did anyone notice how tall those tombstones are out of the ground in the hill in the background? It would lead me to believe that something is going down there, whether its just going to be filled in with grass or more dirt, but it would be cool if it was rolling fog coming down that hill. :)

I agree, something has to be done about the showbuilding. I really on't know why they won't paint it to look like brick or use the faux brick that comes in sheets to disguise it. They have to be planning something for it now that people will have a shot of it straight ahead.

The various pictures we have been seeing though appear to be overhead shots. I think when your down in there walking with the stuff all around you the building will not be visable, hopefully, otherwise :brick:

They are from the steamboat. I agree, it's more likely that the sightlines from the crypt itself will hide the show building from there. It's unfortunate that the removal of trees has made the building more visible from the boat, but I live with that.

I kind of wondeed if there is more to the ride building being exposed like maybe an extension to the ride. :) I saw the building from the boat this last week and wondered what had covered it before. HM is my favorite ride so I would be very excited to see any addition outside or inside.

They're not adding to the building. It's visible because trees were removed for construction access. They will likely be replaced when construction is finished. (And perhaps even better than before, because they were always rather thin to begin with)

Well, there are almost a thousand ghosts in the HM. Even if a dozen or two dozen of them have headstones and crypts outside (and therefore are "local" ghosts), that still leaves the vast majority -- well over 900 -- as being from around the world and different time periods...

Could you not also argue that supernatural forces brought the crypts to that location as part of the storyline? I know it is a little far fetched, but I seem to remember the Tokyo haunted mansion appearing as though it had sprung out of the ground.

We just got back from our trip to Walt Disney World (February 25 - March 6) . . . . YEAH! We really wish we were still there!

Anyway, our favorite ride of all time is the Haunted Mansion and we were very curious to investigate the new queue. When we were in line the construction wall was sealed off pretty good but there was one crack in the wall. So we stuck our camera in there, zoomed, and clicked. Check out the picture we just happened to get!

Looks like this is going to be a very detailed, cool queue expansion! They're making quick progress too!
