This should have its own forum. :drevil:

I'm assuming you were referring to the movies forum here but since most of our ramblings have nothing to do with the Walt Disney Company, I decided to make a different thread here for the rest of the movie world :animwink:

Anyways, it looks like a good time for DVDs.

I pre-ordered Sleeping Beauty and Iron Man two-discers through Amazon. Will pre-order Dark Knight two-discer, along with Wall-E as soon as Dark Knight gets the official announcement.

Ooh thanks for the reminder! I completely forgot about Sleeping Beauty coming out on DVD soon :)

For big-name DVD releases it's better to buy them at the larger stores on the day they come out. Each store should have promtional items that come with the DVD, and to attract you to their store they'll lower the price of the DVD on that day. Best Buy will have a collectable bust of his helmet packed in for Iron Man, and a Gentle Giant-sculpted Crystal Skull for Indy. Target's going to have a collectable Iron Man DVD Case in the shape of his helmet! Who knows what WALL-E will have, and rumors are swirling around a Batpod statue coming with one store's The Dark Knight DVD set! It always pays to know your promtional items and the price range the weekend before the DVD realease, and never buy them from Amazon: You won't get squat!

Hey guys, I've thinking about seeing tropic thunder and my dad wants to see it too. Its not too vulgar or crude is it?

Blood.
Guts.
Curse words.
Guns.
Explosions.

All the good stuff.
:D

I'm not sure what you're asking though, is it you that dosen't like to see blood/guts/curse words/guns/explosions, or your dad?

I'm pretty sure you can both handle it. War is the H-word!

Tropic thunder was great!:D I must say, Robert Downey Jr. is a great actor. His whole white Australian playing an American black guy gig was hilarious. And my dad loved it too, he was laughing throughout the whole movie.

I just saw Righteous Kill on Friday night.

I think the reviewers just like to rip apart all of Pacino and DeNiro's films...almost like it's a "hip" thing to do.

Will it win any awards? No.
Is it anything we haven't seen before? No.
Is it worth watching? Yes.

It's not a movie that I'll get on DVD but it isn't a BAD film by any means. It's your typical good cop/bad cop drama... (Heck, it even starts off with the obligatory "The two cops at the shooting range" scene).

To be honest with you...it was new...to an extent. Usually Pacino is the Bad-hiney...and DeNiro is the one with the "sane" mind...Notsomuch in this one. Pacino is the conscience and DeNiro is the misguided...and it's a nice change of pace.

I would actually recommend this for people who like the two actors and want to go see a fun little mystery and don't want to think too much into what they are watching.

Two movies I HIGHLY recommend come out on DVD tomorrow...

One, you should know about...

Speed Racer

I love Speed Racer because it sticks with the source. It never once asks "Well, they might not remember it was like this?", and it gives no apoligies to how the orginal show was. It's pretty much like the best episode of Speed Racer ever! I really wish more directors when making big-screen adaptions of other shows and older movies would be this true and sincere with the source material.

Death Note

Also a well-done adaption of an exsisting story, except this one I'm sure you've never heard of. It's a Japanese film, but is dubbed by english voice actors very well. (The DVD can also be viewed with the source Japanese track and english subtitles, which is how I first watched it, and it got me hooked on this story.) It's an amazingly smart and exciting story, and I think this live action version is fantastic, and I think movie fans should watch the actual story before (Hopefully not) some American mega-company buys it up and turns it into a crummy American horror movie, WHICH THIS IS NOT.It's a brilliant epic crime-drama thriller that leaves you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Plus it has a sequal that's even better!

Again, I really, highly suggest you go out and buy these. Even if you pass on Speed Racer, which I can understand, I think you movie-fans would really enjoy Death Note.

This sums up how I fell about Indiana Jones: KOTCS

Hehe, well, to some extent I personally agreed with them. I didn't "hate" the movie...it was a fun Indiana Jones adventure...I just didn't like the alien stuff...

While I know that IJ is suppose to be "hokey" and fun...it has to be a BIT believable...and hiding in a fridge while basically being right next to an atomic bomb...it was just laughable.

Yeah, I liked it but it seemed at the time it was 'cool' to say it was trash. On the flip side, The Dark Knight, a movie I loved being a lifelong batman fan, when that movie came out it was almost the in thing to say it was the best movie ever.
