More Disney Job Cuts

Where did I say I was unhappy that you enjoyed the place?

Even with all the problems I see in the parks I love it every time I'm there. I'm just embarrassed sometimes at the state of my place of employment, and how much the standards of upkeep have fallen since I visited as a kid.
Just how old are you? i dont hink things jave changed in the last 5 years.
But again, we were JUST there, the state of things were fine to my eyes, of course, im not "looking for things to complain about."

Steve is reporting today that the MK is once again adding parades and extending hours at the MK. They are also reopening the DH as a TS buffet for the expected surge in crowds expected soon. And all this during what we are told is the worst economy since the depression and a theme park that we are told is falling apart.

Facts vs. Propaganda. The age in which we live.

The peeps love their shiny Magic Kingdom. That VP must be doing a great job! :D

You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool the WDW guest. They know what they like.
100% correct, but what do we know, we just pay to go there...
There is a few folks on here blinded by rage or sadness or something that is just plain odd, I have found that the propaganda they spew is nausiating.
We choose to enjoy our trips to WDW, it is an easy thing to do considering its a good as ever.

I'm 21, and have gone every year since I was 2. Including 5 months as a Disney CP, 10 as a seasonal cast member, and am planning on doing another 5 month CP in the fall. And my family has noticed the drop in quality. Fellow CMs have noticed. It's not this small number of people you think it is.

And as to your "blinded by rage or sadness" comment. Isn't there also being blinded by pixie dust?:p

And you act like all "regular" guests just are blissfully unaware of the problems. A assumption that is completely wrong. Guests complain to me all the time about how the park has dropped in quality in the past few years, so don't act like the only ones who notice are people "looking" for problems.

Maybe we just have a different perspective on "life" and what makes it wonderful.

Believe me, what I've gone through the past 2 months have taught me that. I love the parks. I love going to them with friends and family. And I'm glad that you enjoy them, and I understand that you don't want to see any problems with them.

But, I want to work for the company as long as I can and hopefully fix the problems that are currently plaguing them.

If you don't want to see them/talk about them that's fine. But just try to see it from my eyes as an employee of the parks.

I started of in Epcot, that honestly was run like clockwork. Everything worked to perfection for the most part(Other than TT, but that's a different story). Maintenance there was a-okay.

I moved to MK, and it was really an eye opening experience. I toured the place and realized how in bad shape it was.

You can have all the fun you want in the park. Heck I do. But it's not perfect, and it has been in much better shape in the past.

Thanks. And I agree with you. Traveling to fancy Disney resorts in this part of the world or that part of the world can't really change a persons perspective. I too have had similar experiences to you including over a year in second and third world countries and reading some of the stuff that people find to whine about on this board makes me want to :hurl:.
AMEN, it makes you wonder if some of these people have ANY idea as to how GREAT we have it here.

Fair enough, but i still disagree with the condition comment.
WDW to me, and many others is just as good as ever.
But, thanks for you wanting to improve it.
I CAN respect that.
Good luck.

Just to vent for a second.

I am not an angry person.
I don't look for problems.
I don't hate WDW, in fact I love it more than 99.9% of the population, and more that most on these boards.
I moved 1000 miles, and gave up a job and house to move closer.
I visit about once a month, on average.

However, it is that love that makes me hold WDW up to a high standard, a standard that they set for themselves.

When I see the main effect (and many smaller ones) on a $100million ride not working for a year...
When I see a giant hole in the rockwork of a show scene in Pirates...
When I see a resort's flagship park go the better part of 20 years without a new e-ticket...
When I see a Peter Pan ride covered in an inch of dust...
When I see a parks iconic e-ticket (Space Mtn.) being poorly kept, and run way too long without a refurbishment...
When I see CoP getting stuck multiple times every day...
When I see many food locations either closed or with a cut-down menu...
When I see Future World pavillions left empty for years...
When I know for a fact that people earn bonuses for saving money on the maintenance budget...
When I can run out of fingers and toes counting the burned out light bulbs...

...I get a bit perturbed.
Everything in that list, could be avoided...and isn't.

It's kinda like being in the Matrix. Once you take the pill, you can't look at things the same way. Once you reach a certain level of affection for the place...you begin to need to show it some tough love.

Is it horrible, falling apart, un-fun? Nope. Never has been.
Could it be better than it is? Oh, yeah. And until I feel that it is running at the level at which I expect (only the best) I will speak up about it.

Not trying to tell anyone not to go. I go all the time, and have a wonderful visit every time.

Now then, let's carry on...critics and pollyannas alike.:D

There is a happy-medium to be found, I promise.

Come on, Lee.

Are you nuts?

WDW is effing perfect now and always has been. There's never been a time when things were any better. As a matter of fact things are getting better by the day ... especially now that they've cut all these loser CMs and are running a tight ship.
