MM+ Why we can't have nice things.

May as well call the water parks the 5th and 6th gates I suppose then.

Call it what you want. "In all seriousness" It has a gate and it is an attraction people go to. It can be included in people's ticket packages so again call it what you want

Are we really arguing what you all's new definition is of an attraction or a gate?

Disney Springs isn't considered an attraction?

I think I agree that it depends on ones definition of an attraction. To me I think there are attractions at DTD...cirque....DQ. But it is a destination. But DTD is a shopping mall. Almost everything there is something I can experience at home. Where is the "uniqueness" The "I can only experience" this there?

I personally absolutely loved DTD around circa: 2000. JT can say what he wants but PI was one of the best adult night life spots in the country. No where else you could go to find something like that. The unique stores. The unique merch. DQ was fresh and cutting edge. Cirque was relatively new. I understand that venues like this often need updating. SO what does Disney do? They update the look, they update the parking situation. But they basically CUT some things and left DQ to rot....which I believe they really would rather close. I used to be a huge pin collector. Instead of coming up with new and innovative pins they have cut designs and are now going to close the biggest pin station on property. Which with the crap they sell now they could just add a pin cart to DTD and call it a day.

Where once was Starabilia, the magic shop there will be Wet Seal and other retail stores. I have been to Cirque three times. I have been to DQ to many times to count. Why would I want to visit DTD? Have you been in the Christmas store, AOA store lately? Even the WOD is a shadow of itself when it comes to unique merch. Whenever I would make my trips to DTD I would go right to the jewelry dept. at the WOD. They had stuff there YOU COULDNT find anywhere. Now? Stuff you can find EVERYWHERE!

Cirque comes to my town once or twice a year.....with a NEW fresh show. Again where is the attractions?

I think DTD will be beautiful....stunning......but what will it be? A upscale shopping mall with dated attractions.

I'd love to stay and argue with you negative people...but I have several Disney quotes to do today for a few families

People just seem to love going to that stale place that is falling apart and offers nothing...I don't know why

Just down the road from Disney in Tampa. Next to Bush Gardens, the nature theme park that makes DAK look like a children's playground with overgrown bamboo:

A mall with trams, shopping, nightlife and elevated walkway. All for free. Nearby luxury hotels $75.

It's a shopping mall themed as 'lakeside turn-of-the-century small town Florida'. Complete with Starbucks and Splitsville. To make it truly indistinguishable from 'the Disney Difference', it even has 'oversized everyday objects' for a theme.

Definition of attraction: a thing or place that draws visitors by providing something of interest or pleasure
Perhaps you should look at a WDW park map and see what they identify as attractions.

Taking a quick look, at no point does Disney claim stores or restaurants are "attractions".

If Disney doesn't claim they are, it's unclear to me why you are claiming that stores or malls qualifies as attractions.

If a mall is an attraction, then I have dozens of attractions at home. No need to visit Orlando! :D

Be sure to bring back that wow attraction list when you come back. Please :). I'd like to know what I'm missing so I can ask around.

Because they need a better travel agent

I don't even know what that is supposed to mean.... they need a travel agent like 85% of the negative nancies on here?

but since you all have a passion and love for Disney that shines ever so bright on here....why can't you all just do one thing positive and be happy for the families that takes their kids to Disney World (many for the first time) and have the best vacation they have ever had and make memories that will last a lifetime... just like all of us when we were growing up?

oh wait... let me reply for you all "because Disney is and never will be what it was back in the day, blah blah blah"

different strokes for different folks... and regardless, kids and parents still love it....or the parks wouldn't be as crowded

oh wait...let me reply for you all "but they are probably just lying about the attendance increases over the years...I mean cmon, the parking lots at the deluxe resorts are empty"

thought I'd help you all out there... lol

Why are you being unnecessarily difficult and/or stubborn? Arguing for the sake of arguing? Since you're a "dad" I sure hope you understand the difference between discussion and trying to prove a point that simply can't be proven because there is not a point to prove.

What's you end game here, wdw dad?

Yes we are all disney fans. Yes we like the parks. We would also like to see them improve rather than crumble. Another company is doing a huge business right now, one that's worthy of taking notes, yet disney - the company we all love here, otherwise we wouldn't be on this forum- is sitting back, raising prices, charging more for the exact same product it's been peddling for years now.

Think of it like this, if the xbox were on the market, yet play station kept adding new game consoles, wii was a big hit and added new consoles every year, but Xbox only released the xbox every year- never the 360- but raised the price to compete with the prices of the brand new gaming consoles... But never changed THEIR model... It was always the xbox .... At what point would you go, "gee, this is the only product they've released for years now but they keep raising the price of it but nothing has changed...." And start to look more closely at the company and complain?

Better yet, when do you buy the brand new wii console instead of replacing the Xbox with another xbox?

Think the explosive population growth our world has seen over the past 20 years has anything to do with fuller parks? Just curious.

To @WDWDad13

People are going to gang up on you, as seen through these last few pages, if you don't provide examples to back up your assertions. Simply laughing them off or dismissing them isn't going to make your argument look any better. In actuality, it makes it look worse.

I do have sympathy for you though because nobody has been taking your side and it is tough when everyone is against you. So I give you credit for standing your ground.

Liking Disney more than Uni doesn't make you a bad person. Just you have to understand there are other people who like Uni as much as you like Disney. And they have a different viewpoint. If you get offended when someone insults Disney, why would you hurl insults at the place other people enjoy? Do you see my point? There's nothing wrong with having fun at a place and there's nothing wrong with passion. But as a Disney fan myself, even I realize when things are not what they once were. Attractions are in states that 20 years ago would have never been considered show quality. But more importantly, just go look back at the history of wdw in the 70s 80s and 90s. Look at the pictures, examine the attractions then compare them to what is offered today. Any passionate Disney fan can notice a decline. I'm not saying Disney is done. I'm saying it's in a declining state of show quality and an increasing state of ticket prices.

Overall we should all just be accepting to others. Two wrongs don't make a right, so if insults are hurled at Disney you don't agree with, then react calmly, and cite specific examples to counter their point, rather than just dismiss the point, cite no counter examples, and compare Uni to mcdonalds.
