If anyone has schematics of the track, I can tool with it to create a virtual coaster and you can ride it to your hearts content.

oh please please please can you build us a demo track layout.

ok people, we must find this person some schematics of the track so we can get a sneak peak. thanks paulcmartens

As you can see...I don't post much...I just have been looking around alot.

Saw some great pics from faraway, but found some that were close to the track. You can see them HERE. Again, some are ones that were posted here before...but some haven't (from what I've seen)...so take a look...you may see something new

What I think is meant by "as tall as the crane" is that when you see the crane in its normal position, basically forming a triangle above Everest, the very top of its apex (as high as the wires go) is how tall Everest will be when finished. That looks approx. 200 feet to me. The crane itself is probably about 400 feet if fully outstretched.

Crane in Rest position

The highest point the wire reaches in this pic is ~200 feet. Look like a mountain to you? Does to me!:D

I'm no good at judging heights, so I guess that's possible, but the news report that first made the comparison used a graphic that had the crane in its upright position. :)

the really touristy road the cuts through all of Kissimmee... If you live in Osceola County, there's almost no way to get home without at least crossing it.

Same road which Medieval Times, Wal-Mart, and the entrance to Celebration are on.

I think Lee posted a picture of the forbes spread.

I'll look online...someone might have already posted/created the coaster ride.

It should be a neat hobby. It won't be perfect, and it will just be track....leave it to the 'professionals' to add 3DS objects to it.

jmaxwell...I'll pm you when its done.

The new drop they just started adding is the famous 85-foot drop. If you extend that scale up into the sky, the highest point the wire of the crane reaches is 190-200 feet up.

Where else can you find some DIsney Coaster files for that simulator? Are there any with the 3DS objects in it?

I know you can download RNR (Superman in SF Holland). But there are no 3DS objects. Top Thrill Dragster is a great example of some of the fine work folks do with No Limits (better have a great graphics care! ;) )

Check out coastersims.com

I favor "Nolimits" but bear in mind, I'm on a mac, and that's all that's available for us.

Its received some decent reviews.

I'm sure it would be no problem for some of you PC'ers to re-create Space Mountain or stuff like that with No Limits. Very versatile program.

Geez! These construction workers are on speed or something! It's awsome how fast they're going. I'm still praying that it opens before March 2006.

It's moving along, but I mean, construction started almost a year ago, when the announcment was made last April. They're moving fast, but when you think about everything that needs to be done, they still have SO much to do.

last year...around this time...

At Disneyland around this time, they were testing out Pooh. One of the cast members said they were doing lots of test runs till summer to make sure everything operated.

So, I think some of you folks don't realize that maybe there is a LOT of testing to do.

I know with the TOT here...those cars were running, gosh, at least in February? A couple months ago at least. And it isn't yet open to the public.

THey might open it early though...because Pooh was opened earlier than the CM was told.

I will never understand why people keep saying that Disney dosent do anything new under Eisner but yet get excited when they put a mountain around an "average" size coaster. I am not saying that people wont like the ride but I just wish this would have been something new that nobody has seen before....

new: track technology

This was just hear say...but there is a switch back in the middle of the ride...so in terms of track technology, there is something kinda new here. But I think the Mummy is using this tech as well?

Anyway...I think you'll careen up the mountain, get some g or something, then slide back down, track switch and keep going backwards, but on a different track....confused you yet?

I am

Its new, from what I've heard...so...who knows. I might be misinformed.

Do you get that it's not about the "coaster" but about the "experience" and "storytelling" around it? Tower of Terror is just a "drop" ride...(granted, the tech is different...but the effect is the same)...but when you add the tower around it...throw in a storyline and theming...it becomes out of this world. Mission:Space is just a centrifuge...add theming and a storyline...and WOW... Wishes is just a fireworks display...come on...there is more to it than just what you see with the naked eye...Wait until it's done before you say it's just an "average sized coaster" (How many average sized coasters have a 17foot tall animatronic Yeti? with snowcapped peaks?)

welll...

wellllllllll No.

TOT is a drop ride...but they added some unique innovative idea (forward moving elevator) to it.

Wishes incorporates new tech. in their shells.

Mission space contracted out for a very unique and innovative centrifuge

if a disney ride was just a story and some old ride system...it wouldn't fly.

there is always a tech. innovation involved and that's what the poster was lamenting. with EE it doesn't look like there is a new tech innovation...the coaster could well be like Space Mountain...but as I pointed out...there could be that new switching technology involved...not positive though.
