Mickey's Toontown Fair begins its transformation February 2011

Why not a Mickey's Vacation Village?

Put their vacation homes there in a beachy/Florida type setting with fake sand and water features for the kids. Heck, Donald's Boat could even be there.

I could see it outside the berm, just past the FLE (kinda like where Disneyland put theirs) past where Circusland is going.

I think if Disney would do that it would be way into the future. They would make a big annoucement for it like they did for FLE. I think we will get our own Toontown and it'll be nice and big like an actually ToonTown rather than a street with some houses.

I'll agree with the idea that Mickey needs a consistently staffed meeting spot in the MK...but that still doesn't get us to the necessity for a house. Not to be pedantic, but Mickey was never AT his house! Not exactly a homebody, that one.

Well, he wasn't exactly AT his house in Disneyland, either.

So basically, you're saying that a house for Mickey is obsolete? If that's the case, where could/should Mickey's meeting spot in the MK be?

I think you might be reading a little extra into what I say with the obsolete comment. The idea of a house for Mickey is nice, but I just don't agree that it's a vital part of any park. Particuarly at MK, where TTF served no larger purpose than meeting characters. (At DL, Toontown is a lot of fun on its own merits.)

For your second question, the location of Mickey's dedicated meeting spot just isn't a big deal to me. Character meets can happen anywhere. They're moving him to Main Street at least temporarily, and that sounds fine to me.

But Main Street just doesn't fit thematically. I hope they at least make him feel at home.

Its not a temporary move but a permenant one, or so I was under the impression.

I understand where you're coming from here. They will need to make some effort to make it work, but if they do it right, I think it could be a nice fit.

I do hope they make a nice fit. I would hate for them to be placed here just for the guest's convenience and nothing else. And besides, the building is also a bit of an awkward location: right inside the park entrance.

I hope they keep the "secret" trail from Toontown to Space Mountain open. There is a sweet smell of diesel oil from the railroad tracks off the train about half way that always seems to take me back in time when I smell it.

Funny because right when i read "Secret" trail that smell(which is'n thorrible just nostaligic) came right to mind!

Permanent if there's never a plan to bring a Toontown-esque area back to Magic Kingdom.

I have, without a doubt in my mind, that Imagineers are drawing up new Toontown concepts for WDW. Whether or not it'll be in MK, who knows.

And who knows if they aren't even drawing up such concepts. :hammer:

Sadly its going to go. Hopefully they'll use the similiar sets on the new Snow White ride and hopefully the new Snow White ride will be better (technology wise)
