Oh, I LOVE that movie "A Christmas Story". There's a sequal that I've only seen once and cannot remember the name of it. TBS played it a few years ago and I haven't seen it since. Does anyone know?

Are you thinking of "Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss?" It has the same characters, (with different actors) only they're a few years older, going on summer vacation to the lake. It's also based on a Jean Shepard (?sp) story.

My husband and I particulary enjoy A Christmas Story because we lived it; I have pictures of my brothers and I in those same type of winter clothes, and that school looks just like the one I attended. ;)

I LOVE the Christmas Story marathon! I usually keep that on while Im wrapping, because, yes, I AM a Christmas Wrapping Procrastinator! Anyone else watch A Charlie Brown Christmas? Love that one too :) And of course Its a Wonderful Life. Makes me cry every year without fail.
I gave up on trying to catch A Charlie Brown Christmas on the network and got the DVD last year. I plan on getting It's a Wonderful Life this year. Although I have never cried while watching It's a Wonderful Life, something always seems to get it my eye when Zuzu announces at the end that every time a bell rings, an angel gets wings. Darn those specks of dust! Come to think of it, that doggone dust gets in my eye during Linus' speech near the end of A Charlie Brown Christmas. Stupid dust.:animwink:

How about some more traditions? Ours are...

- the boys always get to open one gift on Christmas Eve.

- there are always more presents on Christmas morning left by Santa.

- the expression of any doubt regarding the existence of St. Nicholas is strictly prohibited in the house, and said expression could result in a drastic reduction of loot under the tree.

- my wife always makes (this is the best one, IMHO) home-made-from-scratch BANANA PUDDING!!!!!:slurp:

Ah, it's so nice to see the Christmas spirit in the air........

But it sure doesn't feel like Christmas down here in South Florida, heck we had two people in my class faint today because of the blazing sun during PE.

Thankfully I don't have to go shopping for gifts anytime soon! I'll leave that business up to the folks! I did though go to a mall on Black Friday, three years ago.....and vow never to return again, though last year I was in Toronto and did go to the Eaton Centre the day after Thanksgiving.....not packed at all.....and one of the largest malls in the world, but of course Canada's Thanksgiving is in October, and I don't believe they have that Black Friday tradition.

By the way, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is THE BEST Christmas movie of them all! Followed by A Christmas Story (BTW at JCPenny they sell these shirts with Ralphie on them that say "Oh, Fudge!" Just hilarious!), Jingle All The Way (I personally like this one with Ahhh-nold), and of course you can never leave out How The Grinch Stole Christmas! A classic I tell you!

(Then there's always Pikachu's Winter Vacation, that one is awesome! )

BTW, Grinchmas starts at Universal's Islands of Adventure one week from today! Be sure to be there for the Whoville Christmas festivities!

Madaline, if you love fried calamari, you must get to Mohegan Sun and go eat at Summer Shack. The absolute BEST fried calamari that I have EVER had!! :slurp: Fried shrimp there is pretty darn good as well! :slurp:

Since most Christmas Eves these days are just our immediate family, we dont bother making the seven fishes (havent since my Grandmother passed a few years ago..that was her gig and she loved it :) ) we just go to Red Lobster for the Vince and Chips ;)

I saw the other night that the tree for Rockefeller Center was on its way down to NYC! They found it in Connecticut. Im not sure, but I *think* its being put up this weekend...but dont quote me on that

One time, I was driving down a narrow, windey local road that happend to be just off of I-287 up here, when I came to a screetching hault. Right there in front of me, attempting to back up, was this huge flat bed transport truck...with the Rockefeller Center tree tied to the back. My guess was that the driver took a REALLY wrong turn somewhere. It was just getting dark, and getting hard to see, so needless to say, I made a U~Turn..FAST!

Our family (my side of it, anyway) is scattered here and there (oh, and we all live in different places, too  ). I'm hosting the Christmas family reunion, and it should be real interesting - a new in-law who speaks practically no English, a daughter arriving with a neurotic cat (my two will be thrilled, I'm sure!), a son arriving with a brand-new girlfriend, an elderly maiden aunt ariving with a penchant for ill-timed, awkward questions ("So, young lady, are you two engaged yet?"), etc. Should be fun! No, really, it will!

What's everyone's favorite Christmas carol?

Mine is O Holy Night, it's such an elegant and powerful song.

FALL ON YOUR KNEES!!! :)
