Magic Kingdom Tree Massacre

I know, I've read it. I've seen it in the park.

I think it looks terrible.:lookaroun:lol:

In total agreement.

You clearly can see them from FrLand and they clearly are tiki like. They may be a buffalo, but it sure looks like some tiki god. You'd think they could just get away with not having those things on the roofs at all, so why don't they take them down?

I thought the same thing.

If it's not pouring, tomorrow, I would really like to spend a lot of time in the area.

They are a perfect blend of Pacific island and American Frontier.

Sorry, that doesn't look like a Tiki God at all. If there was nothing there, everyone would say how it looks like there's a tiki hut over Frontierland. Instead they tried to blend it in.

I seriously don't know what the problem is.

If you can find a FrLand shot with those in the background you can clearly see it's completely out of place with the architecture.

Dude...they tried. Either way, it was going to clash with one of the lands. They made an effort to make sure it didn't clash a lot.

Honestly, this is much a do about nothing.

So is the whole tree argument :lol:

Why can't they just remove the Tiki's from ALand that are visible from FrLand? Are they hiding something? Like a vent?

Don't let the Propaganda get too you. There is absolutely nothing redneck or derogatory about enjoying Delicious hand-battered boneless Chicken strips! If you can't enjoy a good Chicken Strip, DARE I say you shouldn't be allowed to enjoy FOOD at all! It is the right of all free peoples everywhere to Look to their chickens and enjoy! For these Fingers hold not just chicken...but FREEDOM.

*Salutes in front of waving flags from all over the world*

And next they'll be telling us that WAFFLE FRIES are Passe, and Tacos are for heathens! Burritos are for Beggars, and sandwichs are for suckers! WHERE IS THE LINE DRAWN?

Preach it brother.

And Palin is still crazy.

Testtrack321 enjoys a classy meal at Bistro or Jiko and also a fast bite from Harbor House!

Pumbas Nakasak

Heading for the great escape.
What a load of bollocks! What about all the unthemed parts of buildings you see on splash? If you really need that amount of imagineering to be able to enjoy yourself you really do need to seek some help.

As for aspects of design and rules, as with any inovation, practical requirement and physical need, the rules are there to be broken, flexed, ignored or even inovated.

Plenty of discussion on other boards complaining about tree obstructed views of the fireworks, they are paying gusest too.

Sadly, I still do.

And while the folks who argue for the dumber, more concrete, less park-like setting of today's MK, all I can say is from the design standpoint that created the park, what's there today is incongruous with that.

Doesn't work. Doesn't belong.

And sure, anyone's entitled to like it better this way because taste us subjective and many folks who claim to be Disney fans don't even get the most basic tenets of MK design.

They likely also shop at Walmart and enjoy burgers and chicken fingers when dining!

Much like Sarah Palin, they like to see their purty fibgerglass castle from Alaska!

So in a nut shell we are welcome to like the treeless forecourt but we are uneducated, uncultured rednecks for doing so.
I would agree with that for the most part. It's no different than the wand at Epcot or hat at Hollywood studios. I can't tell you how many people I heard say they liked the wand they just didn't understand that it didn't fit with the design and theming.

HAH!

Thanks!:ROFLOL::king::xmas:

If anything I ever write is the dumbest thing on a thread here, then I'll wear it like a pin lanyard as a badge of honor.
:xmas:
The point that the OP noted was the importance of trees from both a quality of guest experience (i.e. shade) and design (shielding things that shouldn't be seen from your sightlines).

That's why the wholesale slaughter of them to make it easier to see Wishes and make the castle POP more simply dumbs down the whole experience.

But that doesn't account for taste, which was my point. Plenty of folks like dumber and simpler and don't get or care to get the whole picture.

People saw fireworks for well over three decades with lots of greenery in the Hub.

I could go on, but why? People do like Walmart and Sweet Sarah and burgers for every meal and the MK being a vast sea of concrete. And don't fret, TDO is listening to you!:xmas:

Preach it brother.

And Palin is still crazy.
Wow...could you be any more condescending? And what's with all the political attacks? I thought this was a non-political forum.

No offense, but this thread is really starting to border on "asinine"...This many pages on a thread that started out about landscaping?....Really? And to turn it into something pseudo-political? In all seriousness people, let's take it down a notch, (or several!) It is what it is, and I know this may sound crazy, enjoy the parks for what they are, and sometimes as hard it may be, let's all try not to point out every little thing that's wrong with them sometimes....Yes, there are flaws, as many us on these boards know, and to one extent or another, they have all been beat to death (see Master Yoda, post #14) I could go on, but in all honesty, do any of these seemingly small things Really screw up your visit to the World that badly? Is the fact that you can see one section of the park from another or the Contemporary in the background going to ruin yours or your entire familys' trip? I personally, would not hope so, but then again, that's just maybe me. (Sorry for the rant)

I don't know about testtrack321, but I could be soooooo much more condescending. I have it down to an art form. I do know Disney execs and PR hacks after all, so I've watched the best!:ROFLOL::eek::xmas:

As for political attacks, if anyone takes a shot at my beloved airhead ... I'll call her 'Sarah', you let me know and I'll get me my shotgun!!!:):xmas::)
