Magic Kingdom Tree Massacre

Think for yourselfer
Those poor poor children with no strollers to be pushed around in. They must have the most awful parents.

Also no gigantic people motoring around in ECVs, how ever did those people survive the hardships of walking around a theme park???

I walked through the hub last week and in the back of my mind, something just seemed off: I realized how unappealing it was: barren, sparse, and blazing hot. No appeal to stick around during the day unless for a photo opp, first look at the Walt/Mickey statue/castle, or for a show. It makes perfect sense to me that the trees were originally put there to provide much needed shade, greenery, beauty, and as a buffer to the other lands. If size was most of the problem, I think they made a wrong choice with the original live oaks since those get huge (and I understand the issue of messing up the perspective of the castle size), and were on their way to becoming so back around 2003 when removed - so they should have just chosen a tree that doesn't get as big.... although with so much hype over all the shows/projections/fireworks and how everyone wants a "perfect" view, even putting medium sized trees there today probably isn't going to happen....

Another reason why we are going to Disneyland. Google map it and then drag the little yellow guy to street view to the end of Main St. at the castle end, or on the other side of the hub closest to the castle. Benches and trees everywhere. It's lovely.
And, if I'm going to pay that much per day, I would much rather enjoy the scenery and get much better park hours without an up charge of over $100 for 3 hrs. for what should be an open park.
This of course means fewer trips and airfare to the west coast from the east coast, but the difference is amazing and well worth the extra $.
8am to 11pm or 12AM park hours for DL , and that's without the extra magic hour.
