I thought that cruise was a surprise?? I was put on top secret double probation by Tammy...LOL

Pam

LOL! First of all, Tracey is terrible at keeping secrets. Like 2 days before our first Valentine's Day together we were driving somewhere in the car and out of the blue he asks me, "Do you have any idea how expensive a dozen roses is???"

He did the thing online to have Mickey call my phone thinking it'd be a few days before I got the call. Well, it was about 3 minutes before my phone was ringing. Mickey spilled the beans. I was shocked and all excited! I knew he was up to something and I half-expected it would be a cruise because he'd been asking me questions. I didn't know he had already set it all up!

See, what I was going for here is, Joanna joins us for brunch and sits next to Kelly, who will drink all of Joanna's champagne, as long as there's OJ added to it... :D

It seems only fair, since Pam is seemingly getting all of Tammy's champagne. ;)

Works for me! As they say...sharing is caring:D

OK, so...let's make a pact--here's at least a table for three for Palo. :)

Oooo, yes please!!

While Palo and Remy both sound like wonderful places to eat, I am quite a picky eater. Do you think there would be enough for me to eat, for it to still be worth the money?

Sorry, I haven't been very vocal lately. Been planning multiple trips to WDW. There are actually a quite a few of us cruisers that will all be there at the end of Sept, beginning of Oct. Maybe we could plan a little meet up, or something.

So, with Tracey's surprise cruise in September and the Fantasy cruise we're going on with my brother & his girls in May 2013 that makes the girls' cruise Disney cruise #5 for me! That means Castaway Club GOLD! Woohoooooo!!!!! :p

Tracey is adorable. Major points to him.

Castaway Club GOLD?! What does this mean? I'm hoping lots of perks for you and whoever happens to be rooming with you :D

I am a very very picky eater too, Jess. No veggies for me! :) I have always found things at Palo, no problem. I haven't eaten at Remy, but from what I've read, I think I could find something there too.

I'm thinking once we hit the one year mark we should start talking excursions, Palo, Remy etc. We can make a list of who wants to do what and match people up to the same days and times if they want. We'll plan plan plan!! :)

Oh, Jess, that was funny, you made me actually laugh out loud!!

Planning, yay!! :sohappy:. No veggies???!!! o_O Actually, I know a few people who won't eat veggies. My husband only ate three for years, which is almost more boring that not eating any at all...it's taken me 25 years to get him up to five veggies.

As in, very end of September? I'll be there Sept 28-Oct 2 and would love to meet up with cruisers!!

Works for me! As they say...sharing is caring:D

Oooo, yes please!!

...and it's clear that you are a very generous soul. ;) Will look forward to both meals with you, and, since you are my roomie, would LOVE to be able to meet you (even briefly, whatever your schedule allows) at end of Sept!!

I'll be offline for a week, ladies, I found out last night that my aunt is on her deathbed in Ireland and will be flying out tonight with my dad (at 80, he can't travel on his own anymore, and also, I am very fond of my aunt). "See" you all when I get back...

I've only done brunch at Palo but I can tell you our waiter would NEVER have allowed us to leave anything less than completely satisfied. I wasn't feeling quite up to par so I wasn't the voracious eater I think they are used to having. Poor fella was so concerned! I think he thought I didn't like the food which was so not the case. I'm kinda picky in that I don't really care for seafood. He really was trying to find things he could bring me in addition to the huge brunch spread. I think if you mentioned to the wait staff that you tend to be a little on the picky side or maybe explain your dilemma they'll be more than happy to accommodate. I'm certain you won't be the first picky eater they've hosted. Right? It's so hard to explain how attentive or personalized the service is in these restaurants. To say they treat you "like family" is almost too loose a term. You almost feel like stinkin' royalty the way they attend to you. It's not quite fawning but then it is but not in an intrusive or uncomfortable way. And if you engage them in conversation they'll chit-chat about anything you want, about themselves if you want. We loved our waiter so much! When we made a fuss over how amazing he was he asked if we would be joining them for dinner during the rest of our cruise and mentioned that if we wanted him to he could make sure we were assigned to him for dinner as well. When we needed to change/reschedule our Palo dinner we popped into the doorway one afternoon and the maitre d' was no different. So sweet, happy to help us out, made sure we stayed assigned to our waiter (who spotted us and rushed over to say hello!). I think just the experience of it is worth the $20pp at Palo. Really!

Well, we'll be at the Hyatt at the airport late-ish in the evening on 9/26 then for a few hours in the afternoon on 9/30. If there's anyone gonna be in the airport I'd love to come spread some girls' cruise love!

Well, the good part is that I'll be earning my gold status. The bad news is I can't really do anything with it until after I complete the sailing. LOL! The biggest perk I'm enjoying right now as a silver member is being able to book excursions, dining, spa stuff, etc. online before the first-time cruisers can. Of course gold & platinum have that opening even earlier than me. So, to me, that's the biggest perk: earlier booking advantage. Earlier booking advantage is more of a big deal for things like brunches and Castaway Cay cabanas, two things that tend to book-up early because they're in-demand with limited availability. I *think* gold &/or platinum members can also start booking newly-released itineraries before the general public. Like when Disney Cruise Lines comes out and announces the sailings/dates for 2014 I think the gold & platinums get a day or two to book them before everyone else. That gives them the lowest opening prices available because (remember this) the sailings start out at low prices then go up as people book and available inventory goes down. It's a supply:demand thing. Sometimes special rates get released and you can opt to switch to a special rate if it's going to save you money. But by booking as soon as rates are released you guarantee a good price. ((Plus, people like Tammy & me will hold "dummy bookings", or cruise bookings we don't really intend to go on, that we book when onboard our cruises then switch them to apply to these lowest possible opening prices to take an additional 10% off that!))

There *will* be a Castaway Club gift in our stateroom when we sail, as well as Tammy's & Holly's staterooms...or anyone else who has already sailed with Disney before. DVC members, too! The gift tends to be the same thing and since I'll have sailed as a repeat cruiser 3 times prior to our cruise I'm sure I won't feel the urge to keep it. You and whoever else is in our room can duke it out for it. I think the gift currently is an embroidered backpack, a couple keychains, and some pre-packaged snacks. Oh! If there's Mickey crispy treats involved I'll keep those. You know me and my crispy treat need. LOL!

Definitely! I can't wait to start planning this stuff! It's gonna rock!

Remy & the picky eaters. I had taken Remy off our cruise in September but then yesterday Tracey said he felt like I shouldn't have so I put it back. When I'm there I could try asking what they do for the picky eater guests, if there's anything they go out of the way to do. I know if it was me and I was staring down a $75+tip meal I'd want to be comfortable in that choice and really feel confident I was going to enjoy it. Well, I AM staring down that price tag (($150+tip for Tracey & me)) so I must feel pretty confident we'll love it. LOL!

Also, question on the Castaway Club status thing for ya, Tammy! I'm correct in my thinking that everyone in the stateroom falls under the status of the lead guest's status, yes? So with me being silver going into the girls cruise that means when I start booking things for me I will be able to book them for Jess, Sarah, or anyone else in my stateroom, right? When we arrive at the port (assuming everyone in my stateroom will be arriving together) won't the other girls in my stateroom be able to check-in thru the returning members line vs. the first-timer's line even tho they are first timers? I wonder if they'll get the different room key than me or if theirs will match mine. I'm sure we could ask that they get the first timer's keys (I actually thought they were cooler than the silver keys ~and~ the concierge-level keys).

Oh man! How stinkin' cool would it be to snag like 2 or 3 cabanas either on the family beach or Serenity Bay next to each other?!?! We'd be like the WDWMagic Mafia taking over a chunk o'primo real estate!

People are going to KNOW us on this cruise. It'll be like "oh thats that group of ladies that have WAY too much fun everywhere they go. I'm jealous I'm not with them." And we will look at them like "Pshh we know.":p

Your hubby sounds exactly like mine - 2 fruits and 1 vegetable for 25 years (I blame his mother) until I put my foot down and said eat what I cook or starve! He eats just about everything now.

And I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt. Ireland is a wonderful place and I loved it, but I wouldn't want to be planning a visit under those circumstances. My thoughts and prayers are for your family.

No veggies, cookies for breakfast - I am a dieticians nightmare! :)

I'm so glad you're going to Remy! I decided I'm going no matter what next time!!

That's correct about booking, boarding, etc. They will actually get different keys and no lanyards though. My family still gets a different key and lanyard from me, lol! And we can book cabanas for everyone and add their name in later. If everyones paid in full we can book Palo and Remy for them too!

Yeah, I was up in the air on the Aquaventure, too. I want to do it but then I want to earmark that time to explore the parts of the ship I didn't get to see last time on the Dream. So I don't think I'm making that decision based on money. It's time. Remy was a money thing which Tracey told me NOT to do. So I rebooked it. I'll be sure to ask about accommodating picky eaters at both Palo & Remy.

Good to know on the CC status thing. Well, I guess it's not the best perk for our roomies having to PIF a little earlier than they otherwise would. But then if they want us to book for them it's gotta happen. Does everyone in our stateroom have to be PIF for us to book the cabanas at the earlier dates? I'm betting the answer is yes. I'll also be sure to thoroughly document the cabana experience to share with everyone so that option can be understood better, too.

I swear, my upcoming surprise cruise is turning into a total recon trip! Love it! Is there anything else I should check into while there????

For a stateroom to book anything, the entire room has to be paid in full. Once they are paid in full, the entire room gets to book early.

Since we are linked, we can book other staterooms (even if no one has sailed before in the stateroom) to eat at Palo and Remy with us as long as they are paid in full.

Does that make sense?

You should get a tax deduction or something for a recon trip! Lol!

Good to know stuff! Woot! Definitely need to be compiling lists of who wants to do what so when the earliest folks open their booking window they can start snagging the good stuff.

I dunno about tax deduction (because Tracey would inevitably say "Oh great. Where the heck do I put that in at???" since he does our taxes) but a hero-cookie would suffice! LOL!
