9 days ladies! We are down to single digits!!
In 2009 I went to my first & only Cabbage Patch collectors annual convention/event. Every year for 10 years I wished I could go. It was the biggest deal of the year. The best, most sought-after special edition dolls were there to pick from. Its the thing the whole online collector community revolved around. And for 10 years I dreamed and wished...then finally I got my big chance. I went to Spring Event! Well, for the 1st time the artists who hand-stitched the dolls made quite drastic changes to the appearance. I thought and still do think those event dolls looked really weird. I kid you not, the faces look like Muppets! So, all those years of wishing...all the anticipation...the daydreams of being in THE room able to hand-pick from a couple hundred of the most primo dolls of all...and they were hideous. I can't describe the despair. To say my heart was broken is an understatement, cliche as all heck to boot. It was literally a nightmare. I was a 34 year old woman sitting in a room full of long-time (internet) friends as well as strangers sobbing like a child. Yes, I cried like a broken down little kid. Bawled. Buuuut, the trip to Georgia and the experience of being there is what I remember most. The dolls were terrible. I didn't buy not 1 of them. I went with a load of cash to blow on several and brought all that moolah back home to the bank. No, what stands out to me was the fun of meeting friends finally! My roomie & I had a blast! We hopped about our hotel going room to room visiting with other friends and having fun. We had a best pajamas contest. There was a brownie bake-off. The purpose of going, the dolls, was a total bust beyond my worst nightmares. But I can honestly say I had a wonderful time and don't regret having gone for a second. The friends and fun made the trip for me. I'll never forget it!

Kelly when you started this story I thought..."Kelly WORST story ever!" But luckily there was a happy ending! Can't wait!!
Yeah because it doesn't matter if you end up hating the cruise (which you won't, not at all like dolls) the highlight will be the fun with friends!
That's true. The cruise can't suck like those dolls did. I mean, you'd have to get onboard and the ship be like an old decommissioned military ship, the characters all Looney Tunes, the food all week-old cafeteria leftovers, and the entertainment a few board games and a run of some old 80s b-movie. That's not gonna happen! The cruise will not be like the dolls!! Lol

Thinking about it - will depend on what happens with my job.So I'm curious- is anyone planning on rebooking while on board?
I always add more dummy bookings. We've got 1 floating. At the end of Sept we'll have 3.So I'm curious- is anyone planning on rebooking while on board?

So what if I book a dummy cruise and then it never happens? Do I get the deposit back or lose it?
Still trying to talk the husband into cruising in the future...I think I'm making progress!
