It's a Wonder-ful Alaska!! May 30th-June 7th

Our Alaska cruise was finally here! We booked this cruise when it first came out over a year and a half ago! We waited soooo long!

When we first booked we weren't sure we would do it. It was so expensive! At $5000 for the four of us for an oceanview room, plus airfare to Vancouver, we weren't sure we should. Several times over the next few months I checked other cruise line rates.

Slight rant - People love to talk about how much more Disney is than other cruise lines, but that's just not always true. I never found a savings of more than a few hundred dollars on any other line. Sure you can find great specials on other lines at times, and you can find great specials on Disney at times. But comparing exact same date for date, the difference was not much if at all. Is Disney worth a few hundred more? You bet your bippy it is!:)

So we stuck with our current plans! Then when the kids sail free offer came out, our price dropped to $3000! Score! So glad we didn't jump ship so to speak! :)

Who:

We ended up with 7 cabins of friends and family on this one! It was awesome! Disney cruises are the perfect vacation for large groups with different ages and interests.

Now a disclaimer. I did a horrible job of getting a picture of everyone this time! I don’t know why! Everyone appeared in different pictures, just no good pictures of each family. So here’s a hodgepodge of photos of the group. I had to steal a few from my brother in laws facebook! We’ve got a great group picture of everyone, but unfortunately it was on the desktop which is now packed and on it’s way to Washington DC. Here’s the breakdown of who is who and then I will post pictures. This will also give you a preview of some of our activities during the week!

First - Us! I'm Tammy, Disney lover, travel agent. My Dh is Stephen, Air Force officer. Ds 16 is Chase and Dd 13 is Ally.

Next - My parents. My parents have been on most of our cruises and WDW trips, including the Med cruise last year.

Then - My inlaws. My inlaws have also been on several cruises with us. My parents love WDW and cruises, my inlaws, however, are Disney cruise addicts. Their favorite vacation, hands down. This time my brother in law got to join us again. It was his second Disney cruise.

Next up - my brother in law and fam. This is their third cruise with us. They have a Dd15 and Dd 12. You may recognize them from our Grand Villa vacation last October.

Then - Friends with twins! You may recognize these cuties from another cruise with us when they were littler. They are 3 now!

Next - More friends! This is my Ds's best friend. His sweet grandmother brought him.

Finally - More friends! These are two long time friends of my inlaws. We've known them for 20+ years.

Here’s the run down!

What a great TR!! I am so tempted to book an Alaskan cruise myself. Thanks for sharing :)

During dinner a cast member came by with an envelope looking for friends with twins! Is this why they asked them their room number earlier?

It is!! They had a special invitation for a character party later that night in Studio Sea! Oh my word!! I was so excited!! I had only heard rumors of such a thing!! :sohappy:

I raced out of the movie at the end and headed to Studio Sea to see the party! There was a cast member standing in front of the doors so I asked if I could peek in the window and see our friends. She said of course. It was a character palooza in there!! There were about 5 families and 20 or more characters. Just about every character you could think of, plus several characters from the shows. They were dancing, taking pictures and having so much fun. The twins looked like they were in heaven!! It was the most magical of magical moments. :):):)

 So jealous!! I would love to have something like that happen to me

Check this out!! We missed him somehow! I saw his picture in Shutters so I knew he was there, but we missed him.

I stole this from DCL on Facebook. Is he awesome or what?

i know i will never remember it all. but to start with what i can remember:
love the eagle pics (of course) and hmm i just might have to take another trip to get more of those pics.

it looks cold up there. not sure i could take that. the water looks cold also, who in there right mind is doing the snorkling excursions

as long as i did not have to climb up, i would love to try that ziplining. it looked like tons of fun.

kayaking looked like fun, but it also appears to be a lot of work. hmmm. and it seems like a very small boat! do they have huge kayaks? :ROFLOL:

loved the kids hats. i think i would have to have joined in and found one for my. i must say that i loved your hat!

i too am shocked you did not stalk that mickey! what on earth happened? i too want minnies coat and boots. those are awesome!

i think that is all i can remember except that when you are booking yours and coree's trip you better book mine also! :D

I think the pictures of us in jackets make it look like we were cold all the time. We really weren't. If we'd been in shorts we would have been, but in light jackets and jeans we felt great. We could sit up on deck, go on excursions, etc.

The kayaking was a lot of work! They scared me when they gave us the lecture about how we could tip over and how not to tip over, but they really were quite stable.

I'm so glad you love the hats!

I don't know how we missed Mickey!:lookaroun

I will book you to, but I have bad news! It would involve an airplane!!

Thank you foreverbelle! I will be watching for your trip report!!:sohappy:

Ok, Tammy, I've been really busy with my summer courses, so I just now got around to your report. I loved it! It made me miss being there so much! I loved seeing your pictures of the scenery and remembering how it felt to experience all of that beauty during my honeymoon. It was nice seeing the stops from a different perspective as well since none of our excursions were the same.

I'm really jealous by the amount of wildlife that you saw. We only saw two whales during our trip, which was still awesome and breathtaking.

Also, I would have much preferred going through Tracy Arm after having a full night's sleep instead of getting up at 4 A.M. to see it. Completely worth it.

One last thing: the twin that likes to point with a particular finger - my nephew does the exact same thing. He has gotten better about it lately, but it always seems like the only time that he does it anymore is when we are in public.

Looking forward to seeing another report next month!

Thank you, Rachel! I knew you would like to read it! I love reading trip reports from similar cruises to mine. :)

I knew you said you had to get up crazy early for Tracy Arm. I am so glad we didn't!! We never would have convinced half the family it was worth it!

That's so funny about your nephew!! The twins parents were trying not to make a big deal out of it, hoping he'd grow out of it. No luck yet!

Seriously great ending to the adventure, Tammy! Loved it! Oh how I'm already looking forward to next year and we have a trip just around the corner to get thru. LOL!

Loved all the pics of the eagles. I wonder if the people who live there and see them all the time still appreciate how majestic they truly are. So beautiful.

I'll work on Newfiefan when I see her in September to get that cruise booked. Partners in crime we shall be!

Holly, if ya wanna score the character dream party it's really simple. Have twins! Give Brett his marching orders and get to work! :ROFLOL:

Soooooo...when we gonna book a WDWMagic girls cruise?!?!

Woo hoo! Partners in crime!! I hope you will see her right after the cruise so you can tell her all about the fabulousness. :D

The people in the kayaking shop were thoroughly unimpressed with the eagles right outside. But I guess they can't run outside everytime there is one or they would never work!

And you had two of the best ideas I've ever heard. First - Holly should have twins!! Yes yes!! :sohappy::sohappy:

Second - WDWMagic girls cruise? I would be all over that!! :)

Well, I actually will be seeing Newfiefan & fam probably on debarkation day (prob'ly @ Epcot). If not, it'll be the next night at our grown-ups dinner...well...semi-grown-ups anyway...at Raglan Road! Woot! I'm just glad I don't hafta try the Arrogant B*st*rd beer since I sampled it last Friday. Lemme just tell ya, the name fits!

I think a cruise would totally work for the girls. Hhhmmm...we should really start throwing this one around. I vote we pick a date in the somewhat distant future and see who jumps in.

Now, I didn't want to bump these threads as I was reading them, because that's tacky. But, I had to bump this one.

Look - this is where it all started! You two developed the idea right here!

And great TR Tammy (lol two years later). I'm having a very boring week at work and since your pics are so beautiful I've been semi-stalking your reports. I apologize for nothing.

Stalk away, lol!

I am actually kind of tickled that you found this! I was trying to remember when we got serious about it!! :)

So funny! It got mentioned sorta like this a few times but then right before I was going on my first cruise I emailed Tammy & Holly and really pitched it. It all took on a life of it's own from there. I just wanted everyone to have a chance to try cruising and everyone be able to meet each other. Gotta say, it was the BEST. I know a group of my Cabbage Patch friends never miss a year in their annual getaway. That's what I want, to never miss a year to see my Disney friends on our getaways.
