Imagination! Being Replaced w. Dr. Doof?

With tweaks? Why not? Granted, I've watched one crummy ride-through video on YouTube, but I basically took MM to be a variation of The Sorcerer's Apprentice, where the monkey opens the forbidden box and unleashes a phantasmagoria. Why couldn't we have a version where Figment unlocks Dreamfinder's 'treasure chest' and reveals a wild flurry of fantasies, using the same ride tech and special-effects tech as MM? Crazy images that make you wonder? And of course, the twist at the end is that Dreamfinder discovers what Figment's done...and praises him for wondering and being curious.

I think that fits fine. After all, the idea should be to inspire *us,* and a lot of the visuals in MM were pretty inspiring. I was going 'I'm not sure what I'm watching, but I like it.' I wouldn't *call* it MM or have it be a ghost story per se, but why not? The original JII had a whole section devoted to spooky/scary stories. The key is the story/creative aspect.

Granted, I would ideally love an entirely new attraction altogether, not a clone, but this is WDI 2013 we're dealing with. If they've already sunk the $ into developing MM, a version of it may be more than we can hope for in the JII pavilion. Beats a fart machine IMO.

If the pavilion is planning to close in January, wouldn't there have been more recent information regarding the closing besides the date. Disney hasn't confirmed the closing, but I would have thought that they would by now if the pavilion is indeed closing in January. Does anyone remember any other time frames of the announcement of the closing of a pavilion to the actual closing?

The Test Track refurb was announced in early January and it closed in early April which would be 3 to 3 1/2 months notice.

I don't even understand why people like this idea so much, that's like putting Indiana Jones Adventure in Epcot...
What does Mystic Manor have to do with the natural and environmental feel of DAK?
A cartoony monkey?
All the artifacts are from remote areas of the world. Seems awesome to me.

That and the fact that mk already has hm and people will get confused. I think of AK as an extended live animal filled adventureland so it makes sense to me.

It didn't open until March 5th 1983.
I'm liking this post cuz of your knowledge that the pavillion opened a year before the ride. not an offense to cammy up there.

I like that idea actually. I want it to be heartwarming not goofy and cheesy. I guess thats what this comes down to. It was heartwarming, then it became boring, then it became silly/cheesey. I fear that a ride based on a cartoon will be just that silly/cheesy. Built on gags and parlor tricks. It just won't have the heart I used to love so much.

It was also special since they weren't anywhere else really, that this WAS where figment and dreamfinder lived. This was there world their only world, not a toned down version of a world you see on tv or the movies, but the only one there is. That made it very much personal and intimate but also wondrous and mysterious

1. No
2. Yes
3. Not really, but I'll take the special effects and 'magic journey' (see what I did there?) aspect of it.

It's Imagination, which is the one pavilion in Future World where you can unleash the creative beast a bit and not sweat the 'future technologies' part. It's the 'right brain' counterpart to the rest of the area's 'left brain.'

It's cool if you don't agree. Absolutely. But you seem to be missing the 'variation of' part and focusing too much on the 'Mystic Manor' part. I don't want a haunted house-- a straight clone would be silly-- but I'll totally take that starlit wall and the swirling visuals and the ride system. Apply it to a story about dreams and put Figment in it and bring back my old pal Dreamfinder. It doesn't seem too far off the mark from the original ride, which, yes, I rode back in 1983 and remember very well. The dude drove a blimp-bicyclemobile and had a purple dragon for a sidekick, for crying out loud.

I guess I don't understand why a dream story wouldn't fit in a pavilion called Imagination, but YMMV.

Mystic manor is a fine ride and the fact that we want it is a testament to how good it is. But being perfectly honest it has no place at the world showcase, animal kingdom I could see. But the fact is, mystic manor is most likely never going to come our way. Just hope that somehow imagineering will be given the green light to make an original e ticket stateside.

I actually think it could work, link into Agent P's adventure. We are big P&F fans in our house, and it wasn't until it was the only show on our inroom TV at OKW, coupled with the M&G at Hollywood, that we had a clue who they were. Have watched every episode since. Here is how I CAN see it working:
Pre-show - DR Doof building his otherdimensionator, remembers about not connecting the self-destruct button, opens other dimension to "World of Imagination", goes through and on way destroys machine, needs help of P&F to get him back.
Journey into "Imagination", guest appearances by Figment AND Dreamfinder while P&F (and Perry - not Agent P) go through various journeys like painting a continent, surfing tidal wives etc, all the while gathering things, using imagination to get the machine back together and we all return to reality. End scene is Dr Doof building another inator and Perry pops on his hat and disappears toward direction of WS.

Post-ride, I would add the dine n drive, and all the food things and make it a food court.

Upstairs, I would add some P&F style building challenges.

Now, I LOVE the original Imagination and I would love nothing more than to go back to retro ride a la '88 but even if my 7 year old daughter can remember the ride song 18 months on, and I hated the new ride, well then maybe the new ride will be our old ride to our kids? if it's not changed of course.

I would put Mystic manor as a ride, but not in FW. In Japan or China maybe it could work.

It could even just be an unsorted Idea Bag and you start out in the Dreamport storage room from the original. Dreamfinder has let Figment have Imaginometer duty, but he's too excited to see whatever surprises Dreamfinder picked up on the last trip and just opens the Idea Bag and lets it all loose.

The "Music Dust" becomes "Sparks of Imagination" and the ending has Dreamfinder saving the day by turning the Imaginometer on himself, and bringing us and Figment the message that sometimes you just gotta dive into new ideas and see what happens.

I'm okay with something new as long as Figment sticks around.
Me too as long as we don't end up with a partially closed building. I must say the area between Imageworks and the gift shop has been looking pretty sparse lately. On our last trip, most of the instrumental areas weren't working.

Why are you guys looking forwards to the P and F anyways? It's just going to tacky Future World up some more. Heaven forbid the color scheme for the show box. Perry blue and Beak yellow? And with more cutout signs like Imagination 2/3.0 but with that same stock image of Phineas and Ferb that they always use for promotional material and merchandise. Maybe they'll tacky up The Land with more unnecessary pastel colors, or maybe bombard the entryplatz with more bright colors that don't look good in actual daylight compared to the heavenly giant geodesic sphere looming over Future World and Innoventions.
Rant over, feel free to disagree
