Maybe this has already been discussed, why not repurpose JIA into an OZ ride? The exterior of the building has faceted structure that could be further modified into an Emerald City facade. The ride could be could travel through the stories of The Great and Powerful and Wizard. The theatre could be a live recreation of the climax scene from Great and Powerful utilizing Turtle Talk style AI.

I don't really think that would fit in future world. Oz is way more of a Magic Kingdom feeling thing. Its kinda like putting snow white in tomorrow land

It didnt stop them from putting an Oz playground right there during the flower and garden.....blending oz with imagination wouldnt really be a bad thing,,,way better than P&F and would have a more timeless feeling instead of a short lived fad cartoon.

Oz would just not be appropriate with the design and structure of the park. It would work in DHS or Magic Kingdom, but never Future World or EPCOT. The OZ Playground was a temporary setup for Flower and garden ...and I don;t believe that film will have a lasting presence. Imagination is a broad theme...I am sure they can come up with something that fits it without adding another ip to the park... No P&F... Use the original characters and take them on a new adventure...

While I agree that finding a place to feature OZ- The great and powerful as an attraction or themed land would be a nice addition to WDW, especially considering Walt Disney's own fascination and efforts around the OZ story's, EPCOT in general and the Imagination pavilion specifically feels wrong. True, the OZ story's are highly imaginative, but taking a pavilion dedicated to the concept of imagination and focusing on a specific set of tales doesn't feel like an open door to the exploration of imagination. Disney is capable and should create an attraction that allows guests to explore the idea and power of the human imagination. Imagination isn't just OZ, but imagination is what created OZ.

That makes Seas with Nemo look tasteful and educational.

Wasn't there a good bit of speculation back in March that Disneyland would be building a James Franco ride?
Tony Baxter seemed to drop hints that they would be.

If the new version of imagination is base on phinease and fern I will be not be visiting Epcot until it is removed. Haven't been in 5 years and the only thing that will get me back is by adding attractions that are true to the original 80s Epcot not tie ins

I agree leave Figment alone!! :( If they want to redo something get rid of the Captian EO instead that show stinks. Disney made a mistake adding EO in and taking out Honey I Shrunk the Audience.

I was recently talking to a CM at Mission Space and here is what they told me. Jan 2nd 2014 Imagination 1 yr refurb; eo retired

My guess at this point is the p and f will get a 3d film or perhaps another attraction in the theater. At least I hope so. Pavilions should be multiple things not just a film or cartoon. the seas should have just had turtle talk but also other things.

For instance, they did not put pixar/disney's cars in test track. And that would be a terrible idea too. Imagine if they did that to every pavillion they couldn't call it future world anymore. Stitch's mission space, a bugs LAND, It'd start looking like a six flags park where the theme of the lands are ignored and you have a safari and bizarro from superman both in the wild west.

Well, they didn't put cars in TT I suspect because GM is still the sponsor. They can do anything yhey want with Imagination. Nobody is sponsoring it right now. Also, clearly maintaining the idea of Future World went out a long time ago.

With the refurb confirmed, I'm slapping together a version of this right now, but I'm still probably going to hold off on posting it until we know just what we're getting.

Clockwise, we've got:
  1. The History of JibJab
  2. Ellen's Dated Adventure
  3. Wonders of Life

  6. Odyssey Restaurant
  7. A World-Themed Food Court, Presented by Disney Princesses
  8. Lack of Imagination
  9. The History of Farming and California
  10. Talking Fish

Yep, that's so futuristic.

But it could be worse.

The fact that Figment and Dreamfinder were created specifically for Epcot is the reason they should return to Epcot. They weren't a tie-in to some show or movie or whatever. They were unique. I think that Epcot should be characterized as a place where ideas are born and experimentation is a way of life. I also think that Figment's abilities should be expanded upon - he should be able to change shape, a la the Genie; he IS a Figment of imagination, after all...
