I wish we could say "Bye Bye" to Fantasmic

Fantasmic! is an amazing show. Maybe it is because I got the chance to tour throughout it and see how much really goes into it.

The concept of his dream going into a nightmare and then fixing it is actually a great message to delivery to families of all ages...sort of "when things are going into a mess, you can always try to change it. No one chooses life for you except for you.." and with "magic" :) I knew all of the cast members in entertainment that did the show and actually it is one of the highlights and a HUGE accomplishment for performers...including myself. I was asked if i was going to stay and become seasonal then go to full time. I wanted to take up their offer on Clogsworth on BB and the stilt dancers at MJJ...I was already in the parade so it was great for me to have the chances there.

But besides the entertainment accomplishments...the show in itself is fun. Michael and I didn't get to go and see it last vacation even though we were there for 8 days (lol soo much to do!)and i wish i did.

Disney will end up eventually (probably soon) replacing it. Obviously not as often as they replace the day parades at MK.

Comon, the "attendence" or "full house" argument is bogus. It only runs three or four times a week(fives times if you're lucky). What other show on property only runs that seldom.

It is an expensive show. It's basically a Parade and Fireworks show rolled into one.

I do have to say the DLR is 100 times better than the fake "hollywood" studio version. The bleachers, the lame stage and backdrop, the 2d boat, and the lack of the Sailing ship Columbia? The DHS version is about as magical as the water tank on the "backstage tour"

Fantasmic is the only reason I am ever at the Studios at night. If they did not have it there is no chance I would be in that park at night.

I am so very sad.

I just can't believe what I am reading about Fantasmic. I feel that this is one of the BEST things in all of DisneyWorld!! It never ceases to amaze me. I always tell anyone visiting that it is THE do-not-miss. My family and I have seen it each and every year since it opened. I have NEVER seen the theater anything but PACKED. And I am SURE that cutting the number of shows recently has NO bearing whatsoever on a lack of attendance. It must be extremely expensive to put on this production. And as we all know, cost cutting is the way to go in these hard times. Even Disney doesn't have unlimited funds!

And another things -- I get SO VERY excited when the boat comes around the corner with all the characters. I could care less WHAT they are riding on. It's just an awesome sight to see.

Gotta love characters!!

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Fantasmic! is one of my favorite things at Disney! That being said, I wouldn't mind if it were replaced with something else.
While I love the show, I trust that if Disney were to use that staging area for a new show, it could be even better than Fantasmic! (which is totally showing its age).

Nowadays, it's hard to even get to see the show! I know it's technically not the reason, but AIE has ruined DHS!

The show needs to go, you have to sit on those uncomfortable benches for what seems like forever to watch this slow boring show that is so slow moving they need to add filler bits in to keep the audience from just walking out, if your going to do a show it needs to be much faster better paced and not rely on horrible water video projection of movie scenes I have already scene at home on DVD on in a theater there is nothing unique about that show just more crap that came out of the 90's at WDW, bring back fantasy in the sky and lets call it a day, I'm sure a few guys shooting off some fireworks is a lot cheaper than all those folks running around in costumes and what ever else, at least fantasmic isn't as bad as that stupid car stunt show where every time I saw it none of the effects worked and all the cars kept breaking down.

I'm a yearly Disney guest and I'm wrapping up my CP here at the World. In all, I've seen Fantasmic 3 times since its debut and not once have I been the slightest bit impressed with it. There is one word that fittingly describes Fantasmic in my opinion, and that word is "LAME." The actual concept of Mickey having a dream turned nightmare and rescuing it is...idk what is that??? I mean for the most part you're just watching a movie...wow awesome :hammer: they try to make it dramatic during certain live scenes but it comes out as kind of corky or cheesy. Lastly, via word of mouth, I hear that it's rare that all the effects are working properly. Does anyone feel the same way?

I know a lot of you love Fantasmic but a lot of you also think that there are too many attractions/shows that are in more than one Disney park throughout the world. So, if we could say "Bye bye" to Fantasmic, what kind of nite time show would you like to see at the Studios?

i do feel the same...arrive 1 to 2 hours early? a show that involves villains and scare my kids?....

considering that hollywood studios only gets one day when we go to orlando, spending 3+ hours on phantasmic seems like a lot to me...and at that time everything is empty..

ive seen it a couple of times only, and my kids on one they were scared (they were 2 & 3.5) and on the other time they fall asleep...

to me the best way to end a day is with wishes...no wait, no bad guys...great soundtrack..great fireworks..

phantasmic...has great special effects....and thats it..

i recall my father telling me when the show ended..."wow, that effect of projecting in water is great"....and the rest of the show? no comment at all...

Amazing?? I understand it can be somewhat entertaining, but as another poster has mentioned... it's projections on water. What exactly is "amazing" about it? :veryconfu

I think that's pretty awesome:shrug:
I've never seen that done anywhere else before and the fact that the picture appears very clear on the water is pretty impressive to me.

I used to really dislike Fantasmic! at DHS... and I guess I still do, but I didn't really have a reason before. When I went to Disneyand last summer, I was almost hesitant to see Fantasmic! just because I didn't really care for the WDW version. Thank GOD I actually saw it over there.

The DLR version of Fantasmic! absolutely blows the WDW version out of the water (pun intended?). It's not only the Peter Pan sequence (though it really helps), there's also much about it that is missing from the DHS show. Part of it also may be the ambiance you feel while sitting along the Rivers of America rather than at some out-of-the-way amphitheater.

Should Fantasmic! go? No. It should be made to be like Disneyland's.

Comon, the "attendence" or "full house" argument is bogus.
Wanna bet? Try getting into even the second show, when it`s twice nightly every night in the summer. Sunset is like a riot.
The show needs to go, you have to sit on those uncomfortable benches
Sit on a coat if its that bad
for what seems like forever
You sit there so long because it is popular
that is so slow moving they need to add filler bits in to keep the audience from just walking out,
The filler bits are to prep the next sequence
not rely on horrible water video projection
Film projection
bring back fantasy in the sky
Why? That was in the Magic Kingdom.
at least fantasmic isn't as bad as that stupid car stunt show where every time I saw it none of the effects worked and all the cars kept breaking down.
They are both live shows. These things happen in lives shows. You got really really unlucky if NONE of LMAs effects worked and ALL the cars broke down. Dreadful.

Is it 5:00 yet?
I like Fantasmic! but I don't HAVE to see it everytime we are there. To me it is not like Wishes or Illuminations where I want to see it on every trip.

I have no real desire to see it again unless updates are made.

Today's the first day I've stepped in the studios in nearly a year.

I did the backlot tour just to hear see the new stuff (can't hear a word being said while in Catastrophy Canyon), but otherwise ok with the automatic spiel.

I did AIE for the 1st time (only 2 performers), seats are tiny (I'm a big guy, but even normal sized people were complaining). Did GMR as it was inside with a 5 minute wait if everything was running ok. only 1 car operating but a delay of about 25 minutes due to some sort of issue.

I would have done TSMM, but I wasn't going to queue outside for it and FP wasn't until 5:40.

We really enjoy F! and were bummed that it rained heavily on the night we were scheduled to see it on our last trip and couldn't make it back. We love the water scenes, the good vs. evil nature of it and the kiddies love seeing all of the characters in the end. The pyro scenes are still awesome to me.:)

My bad I meant to say Sorcery in the Sky, my bad, rather have that then to sit in that stupid theater for that slow moving show which is boring, did it once and that was more than enough.

You know what the dragon needs? A hat. Just take Mickey's Sorcerer Hat from the middle of the park and plop it on top of the dragon. The GMR show building is then no longer obscured by the Hat, and Fantasmic! adds some flashy costuming. Solves two problems at one time.

:D

I know what they could do.. Replace the Mountain with a Giant hat.. Now where could they find a hat like that?

There's nothing like a lake on fire to warm the cockles of your heart.

:):)

This show may not be my favorite, but because it still seems to be popular I don't see any reason for them to replace it. And to those that may complain about the seats or anything abotu the show they do not like.. There is a simple solution .. Don't go see the show.

The Fire on the water gives me that
special feeling we get in the cockles of our hearts
Maybe below the cockles,
Maybe in the sub cockle area,
Maybe in the liver, maybe in the kidneys,
Maybe even in the colon, we don’t know
