I wish we could say "Bye Bye" to Fantasmic

I...could live without Fantasmic. Might be interesting to see it get an update or something. I think we've seen it 2 or 3 times since it started, but we're generally not big "show" people when we go to WDW anyways.

That said, I love RoE, so I think it's a "to each his own" scenario.

It seems that whenever someone dislikes or tires of a show at WDW, they think it needs to be replaced. I, personally, love Fantasmic and see it every time I go to the world. That being said, it might be time to spruce up the show to keep the audience (especially us frequent park guests) coming back. I just returned from WDW last Saturday, and the two performances were packed. I don't mind change, but I much preferred Stars and Motor Cars to the new Block Party Bash---so I go do something else during that time. If you don't like something at WDW, there are plenty of otherthings to do and see. And my experience has been, that change happens at WDW all the time, so don't wish it away just because you don't particularly like something. There is something at the "world" for all ages and tastes and I find little reason to complain about the variety of shows and events. Now, the foreign guests..... that's another story! lol.

You know what the dragon needs? A hat. Just take Mickey's Sorcerer Hat from the middle of the park and plop it on top of the dragon. The GMR show building is then no longer obscured by the Hat, and Fantasmic! adds some flashy costuming. Solves two problems at one time.

WDW's Fantasmic needs Pocahontas to be replaced with either a POTC scene or the 20000 Leagues scene that was in the original plans. And put in new villains, Frollo doesn't make any sense at all in there considering the movie.

If Fantasmic were really as bad as a lot of people are making it out to be, then it wouldn't fill to capacity. Period.

Nope, not true. As I've stated earlier (post #32), and as Testtrack321 has stated (see quote below), Fantasmic filling to capacity does not mean it's a "great show". Logistics play a huge role (great point made by Testtrack321) and marketing plays a huge role. Unless all those people filling the theater to capacity have seen it before, their presence at the show means absolutely nothing about the quality or entertainment value of the show. None whatsoever. Unlike Disneyland, which caters more to locals than to people visiting from out of state, WDW caters more to tourists. So it's probably safe to say that the vast majority of people attending any given Fantasmic show are people seeing it for the first time.

Fantasmic fills to capacity because it's the night cap for DHS. People end their nights at MK, Epcot, and DHS with fireworks or some show, and this is it.

Fantasmic bored me. I was SO excited to see it as it was so hyped up by everyone I spoke to and everything I read, but oh my god, it's all projections on water. Granted, that's a cool effect at first, but it's practically the whole show.
Not to offend anyone who loves it. I don't really care if it's changed or not (I don't find myself spending many evenings at DHS anyway) It's my best friend's favorite thing at WDW, so I'll be seeing it again this year when he comes along. Maybe my feelings will change.

Also, I'm sure I'd love DL's version. I went during the week so there were no nighttime shows (I missed RDCT too :()

I'm a yearly Disney guest and I'm wrapping up my CP here at the World. In all, I've seen Fantasmic 3 times since its debut and not once have I been the slightest bit impressed with it. There is one word that fittingly describes Fantasmic in my opinion, and that word is "LAME."

So, if we could say "Bye bye" to Fantasmic, what kind of nite time show would you like to see at the Studios?

There are some things I don't particularly like at WDW either. But instead of lobbying to get rid of them, my reaction is just not to go see them three times!! Instead I spend my time going back to the things I do like.

I like it. The thing I don't like about it is having to get there real early to get seats. And it's usually a long wait before show time. It seems to always be full when we see it. Also I'm a thin guy, so no padding in the rear. Those bench's hurt after a while.

To be honest, I enjoyed Fantasmic, but I think the nighttime shows at the other parks are a step up.

Perhaps it is simply time for a new show or an upgrade.

Maybe Disney could replace a show before they let it dive into obscurity until it is ignored and blasted on the boards.

It never hurts to keep things fresh.

for me Fantasmic is the main reason to go to DHS. love the show, but of course it would be great to see some slight upgrades and to tweek the show here and there. I would much prefer to miss ToT than miss Fantasmic. It is the only show I go out of my way to see(since Tarzan) and if not the best but the 2nd best night time fireworks show(RoE).
Great way to end the evening.

I have to agree with you, but there are LOTS of others who would viemetly disagree...and they all have their own reasons for that. Personally I have never seen the DHS show live, but the taped shows I did see have done nothing for me. Oddly enough, I have seen the DL version live a few time and actually like it very much. Maybe it's the whole Pocahontas segment that throws it off for me...

I do have to support all of the fans of the show though -- whenever anyone says that my beloved ROE needs to be replaced, I defend it as strongly as I can. I personally can't think of what EPCOT would be like without it! And I am sure that there a lot of fans out there who think the same about F! at DHS.

I could take it or leave it, but mostly leave it. Out of the 50 plus times we've gone to DHS we've seen it 3. I think my problem with it is the theater or amphitheater. We saw at Disneyland and it was great, but at DHS, not so much.

I saw Fantasmic once at Disney Land...for that same reason I'm not going to see it in Disney World. But I don't see anything wrong with the show to make them cancel it.
