Hollywood Studios entertainment overhaul

Thankfully you are in the minority. It was the best Disney Animated Feature since Lion King that is a fact, and it was in no way shape or form a Dream Works Imitation did you even watch the movie? You may think it stunk but the great reviews, BIG Box office, Merch sales, and High popularity say otherwise Period.
Yes, it was successful by pretty much any metric; you may like other movies as well that you feel deserve attention, but doesn't mean Tangled wasn't good.

I hope they don't cheap out and go 'Golden Mickeys' - not only did I not like the show, it further cheapens the DCL investment in entertainment.

I would have to think it will be hard for them to ignore Toy Story unfortunately... (for the same reasons)

While I strongly disagree about the Golden Mickey's, my whole family loves that show. I would really love to see something new, not a clone.

Also wasn't a huge fan of Tangled to be quite honest. My favorite Disney animated film of the past decade or so (not counting Pixar's stuff) was probably Meet the Robinsons. Very different style of move obviously (with flaws of its own as well), but I came out of it loving it far more than Tangled. I don't think Tangled is terrible, or even bad, I was just a bit disappointed. I also liked Princess and the Frog considerably more as well (i don't even care for Randy Newman's songs either for the most part, I did enjoy a couple of the songs in PATF though). I didn't really enjoy many of the songs in Tangled that much and found the villain rather uninteresting and under developed. The love scenes felt a bit rushed (especially the scene in the city where they just show extremely short snippets of what Flynn and Rapunzel are doing to have fun for her birthday). I also didn't care too much for the dialog either, a good example being the opening sequence which I felt would have been better without any dialog at all. Or at least told in a different style besides "see here's this villain which you might want to remember later on" or "yup that's Rapunzel", Beauty and the Beast just handled its intro storytelling so much better and with much more class). I feel Beauty and the Beast is inevitably going to fare far better against the test of time than Tangled will (B&TB has already been out for almost 21 years and still doesn't feel dated whatsoever). I just don't feel Tangled quite lives up the Disney animated movie legacy, especially the movies from the Disney renaissance in the late 80s and 90s. It most certainly had moments of greatness, but there are flaws that hold it back in my opinion. Again I don't hate it, and I did enjoy it somewhat. But I clearly didn't get something that others did from it.

I didn't think Tangled felt like a Dreamworks imitation that much however (though I did heavily enjoy Dreamworks' movie How to Train Your Dragon more, in spite of being heavily annoyed by Jay Baruchel). Well except for the scenes involving Flynn and especially Maximus that is. The movie mostly at least tries to be a Disney movie, it was the rather terrible marketing behind the trailers that tried to make it seem like it was.

What someone considers a "best Disney animated movie since Lion King" is in no way a fact, it's an opinion. A review is in "fact" an opinion. While sales, merch, and popularity do not necessarily have to do with the objective quality of something. In terms of Disney's animated movies since Lion King, I personally enjoyed Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, Tarzan, Lilo & Stitch, Treasure Planet, Meet the Robinsons, and even Princess and the Frog more than Tangled. And as a "Disney Princess" type movie, I prefer the mostly live action Enchanted over Tangled.

That being said, I don't have any feelings either way about replacing the stage shows. If people like them and the movies they represent, that's fine with me. Tangled should do well among the more modern audience. I've only watched the stage shows a few times each and they don't appeal to me that much despite enjoying the films they're based on. I'm more of a ride person myself.

Can't do the first unless you want to also take out the main kitchen for the park, including Brown Derby and the Cast cafeteria (the semi-circle end of that complex). Of course, if you mean just tearing down the theater front and moving a guest path between the Animation building and Cast cafeteria to come out in the Sunset Ranch Market seating area...still can't do that because that backstage area also functions as the receiving/unloading area for the main kitchen and Sunset Ranch Market. Stand over there in the morning right after opening and you may be able to hear all of the trucks backing in and out if you're in the right spot.

As for the show changes, bring them on! Can't say I'm a huge fan of either show, and I absolutely love the movies (more so Beauty and the Beast). I've always found the shows to be not that good, and BatB just does nothing for me.
Good to know, thanks for the info.

Would they face similar issues of the Magic of Disney Animation is removed?

I will be so sad to see BatB leave because I never miss seeing it when I am in DHS but I wouldn't mind a PatF or Tangled show in its place. I thoroughly enjoyed both movies for different reasons.

This legit makes me sad. My husband and I LOVE the BatB show. Brad actually went to a showing as I rode Star Tours II multiple times last Dec (He can't do sims).

I'm all for DHS 2.0 but why are we replacing things, instead of sprucing some things up, and adding to?

I really enjoyed PatF and wish it would get represented more in the parks. I figured VotLM would leave (even though I think it's neat and wish it would stay) and I figured BatB was on borrowed time but confirmation still makes me a sad panda.

They could tear down the Magic of Disney Animation portion without affecting backstage and infrastructure needs, as I don't believe it houses anything that is critical or even slightly important. However, it is connected to the old Animation building, which is still seeing a fair amount of use in certain areas of the building, so it would have to stop at that point. You still can't expand out into what is marked as Highland Ave. because that is part of the main backstage access and you can't re-route it through a different area because that is the only spot where you still have large vehicle backstage access to the main kitchen, Special Events, and Sunset support areas. Studios is a very unique/complicated situation when it comes to backstage access and facilities in terms of how expansion/modification can work.

I just want to have the entrance to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster come from somewhere other than Sunset Boulevard. Is that possible?

A live stage show of NATIONAL TREASURE! Come, join Ben Gates and help him "steal the Declaration of Independence!"

Live stage show? No. Dark ride in the same style as DL's Indiana Jones? A resounding YES! That'd be awesome. Not sure how/where it'd fit in the theming of the park (which as has already been discussed, seriously needs some tuning), but it'd be awesome and wouldn't be a complete clone of something somewhere else (same ride system as Indy and Dinosaur, but different story).

I liked it but it's not my favorite. Though for me personally, I thought it was a giant step above shrek. I think people liked that it was Disney doing what Disney does best with that traditional fairy tale. PatF wasn't exactly that with its setting in new Orleans (I know I know, beauty an the beast was set in france ext but it had much more of the traditional fairy tale with the castle). Even right down to the sidekicks...a chameleon and a horse are a lot cuter than an alligator and a semi toothless firefly. Just my take.

The songs could have been stronger, I will agree on that. I think some of that might have to do with the singers they got. I like Mandy moore but she isn't exactly a broadway star unlike the woman who voiced the mother, and that showed.

Regarding PatF, I thought it was very well done. I'm just not a big fan of randy Newman. Most of his songs sound the same to me. But in PatF, there was some variety so I enjoyed it more than I expected.

I agree in principle on the Randy Newman bit. But I thought he did a fantastic job with PatF. We just watched it again last night, and I really like the songs a lot. I think it's because New Orleans jazz is really in his wheelhouse, having grown up in New Orleans. And I think that on a whole the songs in PatF are WAY better than Tangled (with possibly the exception of "I see the light", although I can't decide if I really like the song because of the music, or the awesome animated sequence with the lanterns).

But yeah, Newman's songs for Pixar films... doesn't really do it for me. I still don't understand how "We Belong Together" got an Oscar.....

Cool to read people's opinions suggesting a Princess and the Frog show. I thought about making that suggestion when I saw this thread yesterday. A number with the Shadow Man's friends on the other side and another with Mama Odie digging a little deeper could be really great. And could be really scary to young children, but come on - this is straight out of the movie! LOL

Only half of the songs in PatF are even memorable. I can honestly say everyone I knew was singing the Tangled songs when it came out but no one was singing anything from PatF. Don't get me wrong PatF is a good movie but it fell short (I blame the bayou scenes) and Tangled pretty much blew it out of the water.

How about in the MK, replacing Tom Sawyers Island...or in EPCOT in The American Adventure!

No. and a HUGE NO to the second. The American Adventure should never be taken out, and plus why do you guys want an attraction based off a forgotten and mediocre franchise to begin with?
