Just got back from The Cricketers Arms where I spent the day watching all three matches. The Portugal/Iran match was decent, but I was loving watching Ghana pull out that victory over the Czechs. As far as the officiating went in the U.S./Italy match, that had to be some of the worst I've ever seen. Some of the cards were justified, I'll give them that, but not all of them were. Some of the fouls that got Yellow cards were worse than the one that got Moestriani his Red Card, and the foul that got Eddie Pope his second Yellow was a play on the ball from the side, not a tackle in the back on just the player. Add to that the clear ignorance of a hand ball for Italy in their penalty area that should have resulted in a PK for the US(and possibly in the end a 2-1 win for the US if they made it) and it almost looked like the Italian Mob had paid off the ref in this one. Although, I did end up calling it as a draw in the Pick 'Em, so it's not all bad news.
