Football time my peeps..;)

One Lil Spark

EPCOT Center Defender
Indy better be able to beat Mineeesooodda spark! Is Manning hurt? I haven't seen this weeks game (not even highlights yet), but last week he looked a little out of sorts.

He had knee surgery over the summer and last week was his first game back. It seems the second half of this week he's been on fire. :D

Good to hear he's back full force. Would hate to see such a great QB have an injury that could ruin his career. I wish them the best; well, until Playoffs, as a fan of an AFC team myself, I would like to see the Broncos beat them in the end, lol. (but says in my best "Godfather voice", "it's not personal, it's business", lol)

Before it is said, I will be the first to say that the Broncos game (although still a W in that column) was, um, err, uh, heck, I'll just say it: It was decided on bad calls.

My only recourse is that hopefully by week 10 or 11 next season, this little fiasco of two bad calls on this game will be forgotten.

COME ON MIDDLESBROUGH!

Oh wait your talking about NFL? Not PROPER football then:lol:

LOL! There was a gentleman I used to play online games with during grad school that was from the UK. I can't remember his team, but I used to say "gooo South Hampton" to him (as they were the rival of his team) every time there was a proper football game on, lol

San Diego won that game...if it was to be determined by that one whistle blow.

At the very least, Ed Hochuli should've called the play dead as far as any return goes, but possession should've been given to San Diego. It was not an incomplete pass, it was ruled a fumble. No Bronco touched (or was even in the area of) the ball. A Charger picked it up prior to it leaving the field of play.

Um, so what happens if a guy makes a break for it down the sidelines...and the ref just blows the whistle to blow the whistle. The play is dead and there are no points awarded?
Some common sense needs to be made. If the purpose of having a referee is to keep a human aspect to the game, then the ref should be allowed to make judgment calls.

(BTW, I hate the Chargers)

LOL! I'm not disagreeing with you. Apparently you missed my head hanging in shame to call that a W in the Broncos column.

It was a game decided on two really bad calls (in favor of the Broncos). I love football too much not to call it like I see it (regardless of who my team is).

Charger fans have NO reason to be upset about that game. Their team won hands down. Now I'm afraid of meeting them again the last game of the season (Dec 28th) in SD. I just hope that game doesn't decide a playoff spot, as I think they will run all over us.

Chargers and Broncos have always had great games, regardless of season record. I am scared about that last game. Chargers will come back full force

Actually, the Broncos won the game...the final score says so. San Diego didn't stop the Broncos on either the 4th down touchdown or the 2-point conversion.

Anyway...the rule is laid out there pretty simple, it isn't up to the referee. The whistle blew to end the play (which may or may not have been a mistake, depending what the official saw and when), and there is nothing that can be done to change that. The whistle blew and that is the end of the play, regardless of what the instant replay shows. So yes, in your example, if a guy takes off down the field and a ref just blows his whistle, the play is dead...period, end of story. It is how the rule reads. There is no exemption for the head official to change the rules on the field of play.

Stuff lke that happens every Sunday, but people only care if it happens in the way it happened yesterday. If that same thing had happened in the 2nd quarter on the Bronco 32 yard line and Denver had gone on to score a touchdown, nobody would care one bit.

Actually, another controversial call was made earlier in the game and people cared about it.

This was even worse because Ed Hochuli admitted his mistake on the field...He was man enough to "man" up to it...but his mistake caused San Diego the lead they had earned...and eventually the game.

I understand why it turned out the way it did...because it's the "rulebook." This is why I don't understand why they fight so hard to keep the "refs" in the game. He made an error. He manned up for the error (this error went against the "rules.") Now, to get the game back on the tracks...they go by the rulebook again...and it screws the opposing team anyways. Why not allow the ref to be human (like he was when he made the human-error-call) and right the wrong. He needs to make a judgment call. No other Bronco was around when the whistle was blown...and the Chargers player recovered the fumble cleanly before it went out of bounds.

Yes, you are right, San Diego did not stop the touchdown or the 2 point conversion...but the defense did step up and the fumble was caused (whether it was the Cutler just mishandling it or not).

In essence, Denver was given another shot that it had not earned or deserved. This was week #2. Imagine if this was the Super Bowl. (Again, I'm calling it as I see it...I have no "love" for the Chargers...I'm much happier that Denver won.)

BTW, That "tuck rule" call is crap...and I'm a huge NE fan.
