EPCOT Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

I do find it odd how the old Joy M&G spot is still just sitting there uncovered. Are they waiting until D23 to announce what would go in that area?
They probably are, said M&G replacement will probably be another inside out character (most likely Anxiety as her merch is apparently very popular if the stories about how Disney has ran out of plushes of her are to be believed). JII v4 won't happen at the expo unless its packaged in with another IP addition to the pavilion, whether its finally putting something new into the Magic Eye theater or kicking Figment out entirely, which the only reason that hasn't happened was because Docter vetoed it years back. And realistically the other IPs presented for redos, Phineas and Ferb and the Muppets wouldn't happen as DTVA stuff rarely gets parks representation and Disney hates the Muppets, were stuff that would get killed in blue sky. I also view Figment as a "break glass if profits are toast" which given the parks are one of the two disney divisions that make money, attendance woes aside, it also isn't likely. Besides, even the most optimistic JII rumors are that v4 is in blue sky and Disney's investment focus has pivoted back to AK and MK for the short term.

The “diversion” list from the scene as follows:

Add an unused concept from the haunted mansion as a distraction
Blue Sky something that may or may not happen
Call out The other site for reasons or no real benefit (call him an unscrupulous source
Redo test track
Bring Tony Baxter on to do nothing
Merchandise or meet and greet dreamfinder
Redo test track again
include the muppets in presentation
Bring back something that was taken away and shouldn’tve been removed in the first place.

Let me know if I'm remembering wrong, but I believe some of the insiders here have rumored that Figment will stay in the Imagination Pavilion proper, while Inside Out may go in the Magic Eye Theater. With the smashing success of IO2, I wouldn't mind if this helps push improvements onto the whole of Imagination while also giving the pavilion a draw with IO in the theater space.

I'm not an insider so like most I don't know what will happen, but if things were to net out like this I wouldn't be too upset about it.

Yeah I saw and that’s what I’m hoping for.

I’m not sure any reputable source has specifically said Magic Eye outside of speculation, but yeah, that would make the most sense so hopefully 🤞

I want it to happen but I just have trouble getting excitement for anything relating to the imagination pavilion because I have no confidence it’ll ever come to fruition. Though this does seem like it could happen. And no, I don’t think inside out is going in WOL. Tbh, I wouldn’t be surprised if the building never gets filled, or is torn down for a new ride in 10-20 years

Yeah, probably more on the speculation side then a rumor with merit. I'm sure many inside the company are quite pleased that IO2 is doing so well, so I'm very curious as to what could/may happen on the parks side of things.

Having just seen Inside Out 2 and thinking about how best to represent this property in a theme park:

To quote one of my favorite artists: "Content Dictates Form". A Cranium Command-esque presentation is what the property would excel with. A dark ride is not the correct medium to tell an Inside Out story, imho.

Magic Eye is the way to go.

I agree. Unless you make it a book report, an Inside Out dark ride would just be scene after scene of the emotions in Headquarters, standing around the control panel. It'd make a very dull dark ride. I think putting it in the Magic Eye Theater would be best if they don't want to just reopen Wonders of Life and stick it in the Cranium Command theater.

I feel like they can invent an excuse to get the emotions to Imagination Land. Probably not one that this forum would like, but I digress…

No ‘Inside Out’ in the Imagination Pavilion.
It is not needed!

Kick that to the curb….and send it packing.
Plenty of dead space and empty former show buildings to stick it into elsewhere on property.

No nonsense, unrelated IP overlays ….
Imagination Pavilion deserves better.

I know everyone  wants to believe Inside Out won't touch Imagination, but with the current way they're pushing IP into the parks, along with what I've heard, Inside Out is ending up at EPCOT eventually, and it may very well be next door to Journey into Imagination.

Thems the breaks.
What is preventing them from putting it in WOL?

Lack of capacity if complete leveling of the inside isn't done, high cost of doing said leveling, needs to be brought up to code, and Magic Eye has more capacity than the former Carnium Command theater. Magic Eye also puts it next to a ride which means more people will notice it and go to it/and or the ride.

Really an Inside Out show for Magic Eye is going to be the hook for them to invest in the pavilion again. There needs to be a non-parks exclusive IP hook for investment in park originals, that's been a thing since the Eisner days.

Tiki Room? Don't dump money into it until you can shove other birds/Stitch into it.

Country Bears? Don't dump money into it until Big Al is singing "Love is an Open Door"

Splash Mountain? Despite not being a parks exclusive IP, it basically is in the US, and it was left to rot until it became Princess and the Frog.

Things like Big Thunder, Small World and Haunted Mansion are immune to this and Test Track has a GM bill.

Let me double down here. Inside Out in Magic Eye? Harmless! It's not worse than Captain EO next to Imagination. Not worse than Magic Journeys, HISTA, and now the Disney Shorts compilation. I get why people don't want the ride part, and that isn't happening. Figment sells too much merch in parks and is still a valuable IP to Disney. Having an Inside Out anchor next door will only increase the amount of eyes ON Figment.

Nobody will shed tears if the current film went, and will be happy if anything went into the pavilion that wasn't another M&G.

spot on,,,though Small World could use...I don't know they need to revert the front, back to how it use to be more open and with fountains, heaven forbid there be a fountain again...but different topic for diff thread I know......Actually I think if they are going to add inside out anything magic eye theater is perfect next to figgy. What's there now is a joke.

Correct. There is no downside. Similarly to Remy in France, if Inside Out never existed and those characters appeared as original parks characters, they would fit EPCOT.

To use your reference as it being an anchor of the pavilion, it would almost certainly be a catalyst for Figment getting his due in a big way.

At the very least, they need to take the Magic Eye Theater off Genie Plus.

The Lightning Lane door leads to the same area as the normal one and there wasn't even someone manning it when I went in there.

I know they don't have a lot of stuff to put on there, but that's just flat out scammy.

(To be clear, I wasn't using it. I went in for air conditioning and saw a very confused family scan in.)
