Fifth Gate rumor

There must not be any imagination left in Florida.

I'm not saying there should be another Florida park soon; I'd like to see some expansion of the existing attractions in all of Disney's parks. But does China really need another park on a different site? Why not expand in Hong Kong first?

I guess that's why I'm not going into business in the future...

I dont think Bob Iger is saying NEVER, just only when its needed. He said when he came in at the top that he wanted to expand international markets, and he is doing so, the Disney Brands are finally breaking into other parts of the world.
This my thinking DisneyWales too. I don't think the door could ever be completely closed for something new in Florida.

Bob Iger is moving out to international markets, and I think its good to spread awareness of the Disney brand. Its a solid business decision. As long as the attention to detail and story is always at the top of the list, I'm game. :)

While I wouldn't be surprised if one day, perhaps even soon, Disney announced plans to start developing a 5th park, I wouldn't believe it until I saw it in the MSM...and even then, I'd probably be a little suspicious. :D

Just set the entire it will/will not be built debate aside for now.

Why do so many want or expect a 5th park to be built and have it done immediately? There is plenty of room left in existing parks for expansion and new rides. There are many existing attractions and rides that could be/ need to be refurbished. Why not focus on those items and make the existing parks even better?

Well, for me, I agree with you. Part of the stretch out beef up thing I was saying early. I was lucky enough to sit in on a Q&A session with the head of Imagineering for Animal Kingdom and the Imagineer from Innoventions and the question of where Imagineering was headed was asked. In a nutshell they said that after Everest they were going to go into what they call Reimagineering, and were going to begin to revitalize, update, and restore much of what the parks already have before building anything new.

Nothing new will be built for quite some time (several years), but I would guess we'll see a lot of TLC around the park, as we've already seen with improvements all around EPCOT, MK, and MGM.

The 5th gate idea: many years down the road. Probably close to a decade if not more.

Exactly what i would expect from them. I would love to see some attractions getting a "freshening up" HM for example. With the technology that is around today that ride could be amazing and at the same time keep close to the original.

I'll say it again... No Future expansions to the US Parks...

You misread Iger. In fact, he said there WILL be expansions in the US resorts aside from their various international plans. He did however emphasis the word "decades" in reference to their homeland expansion plans.

Here is a segment of a recent Orlando Sentinel article I will link you to:

Q: As you discuss globalization you seem to suggest that the domestic theme park market may have limited growth potential right now. Is it saturating?

A: Well, I don't really mean to suggest that. At the moment, we don't have plans on the drawing boards to build what I would call new parks in the United States. We certainly have plans, and the desire, and the ability to expand what we currently have. Today [with the grand opening of Expedition Everest] is a good example of that. The building going on for our vacation club is another great example of that. There is a list of concepts either in the dreaming phase or on the drawing board that will fuel both this facility and the one in California for many years to come. So growth is far from over. ..... The other thing we're doing is we're expanding other concepts beyond the theme park concept. The cruise ship is a good example of that. Adventures by Disney is another good example of that. There will probably be more of that.

Q: Is that, at least in the next couple of decades, an area of tremendous growth compared with theme park growth potential?

A: Since you used the time frame "a couple of decades," you'll see Disney building more parks internationally, and you'll see Disney expanding the vacation experience domestically a fair amount, and you will see expansion in California and in Florida, but again I doubt you'll see, at least in the next decade, a new gate.

Preposterous, I just had a new gate installed last week due to tree damage. I can post pictures of the gate if needed, that'll settle this once and for all.

Wow, that one park is WORSE than Fantazyland. Atleast Fantazyland didn't have a random pile of junk sitting in the middle of the park with creepy looking manaquins lying around.

The Reason I have thought this is that its where the serious celebrities and that go.

P.S. What dress code is there for women
