Fifth Gate rumor

Pumbas Nakasak

Heading for the great escape.
I dont know why so many mock, I think the idea of a park dedicated to old rides, expanded monorails, pin collecting and year round seasonal makeovers would be a smash.

Very true that Screamscape and Wikipedia are not the best sources but in the Screamscape post I believe it said that there has been discussion that they are developing ideas for a fifth park again....no timeframe was mentioned. They also mentioned that Beastly Kingdom is back on the drawing board.

Rumorr for now and as we all know nothing is ever official until the digging starts:)

before they build a fifth gate.....

Disney had better be talking to Orlando, to be making their city safe for tourism..

Yes I know that most of you elitest's stay on base.. but some of us can't.. and with the crime rate increasing in Orlando, it becomes a situation, where you have to think, DO I WANT TO TRAVEL THERE? ... when Orlando come's in in the top 25 worst city for crime in the Country, Disney should be speaking up and in a hurry..

and again, we all should be concerned that we will kill the golden goose..

you can't have more traffic to the parks if its unsafe to come to the town its related to..

Or what?

Disney's not going anywhere. That Orlando isn't the safest place will only drive more people to stay on property. Besides, you can always stay to the south of WDW. Surely it's safer the farther you get from Orlando. :brick:

Signed by an elitist who will actually be staying inside the Orlando city limits on his visit to WDW this Dec.

1. There is little/no demand for an additional theme park in Orlando. The market is mature and currently saturated.... the growth of the past is a thing of the past. Universal is having a hard time making money in a good economy....I would hate to see what happens next year as the market begins to slow. Cypress Gardens filed bankruptsy, Holy Land will be going bankrupt by the end of the year.

2. Epcot and MGM have turned away from their original purposes and are becoming "MK-lite"...DAK is begining to follow suit too.....there is not a good central theme for a new park...at least not a park in the traditional sense of what we think of a Disney park to be, without creating just another version of the MK....

3. Theme parks, in general, are declining in popularity.

4. Construction costs have increased so much that a theme park may no longer be able to be built (as we know them to be built) and be financially viable. Even new casinos being built in Las Vegas are having to scale back their plans due to the rise in construction costs.

That brings up the question then, has WDW hit the pinacle? What is WDW going to do to re-invent itself?

Unfortunately if Orlando wants to be a big town then a higher crime rate is going to have to be part of the growing process. Also Disney is not Orlando!!!!! They aren't even located in Orlando....they are in Lake Buena Vista which is a separate area.

Look I hate the fact that Orlando's crime rate is getting higher and higher. I have lived here for 15 years and I see wonderful things about this town and I see bad things about this town....but I don't leave because I like it here. To give an example of the crime not being all over is that I used to work a part-time job at Prime Outlet Mall (formerly Belz) and we had to be walked to our cars every night because of the gang activity in the area...which is north International Drive. If you go to the south end of I-Drive you see very little if any crime activity at all. It all depends on the area of the town...sad to say but very true!!!!!

It's not Disney's responsibility to speak up and say anything but I would agree that they maybe should ask how they can help if at all. I listen to a radio station here in town and they do a Kicks for Guns program where people get a new pair of tennis shoes for every gun turned in. NO questions asked and the gun must be given to an Orlando Police Officer. They usually get 75-100 guns at a time and while it's not a permanent solution atleast it is a start. Props to the Monsters in the Morning 104.1!!!!!!:)

The theme park business isnt going down. It was been rising every year for like ever. Disney's attendance was an alltime high last year.
