Fifth Gate rumor

This would be kind of neat, and seems like an obvious next step for Disney in Florida. You have Fantasy, Discovery, Adventure, and the magic of Entertainment...why not play on the aspect of water. At the same time, I would think Disney would try to think out of the box again to reinvent the Theme Park idea.

The biggest reason this is a rumor though is because of the direction Imagineering is heading. Everest is complete, and it will more and likely be the last major new attraction for a while. Imagineers have already entered into what you could call reimagineering. Their major focus for the next several years will be to revitalize and reinvent what already exists.

Lol

I think there is more of a chance of disney buying great adventure then this.

Sorry, that is one of my dreams would be perfect. 2200 acres. Already the safari and water park. Its own lake.

Anyway I think in some of the specials they said there will be no new parks in disney world. They even mentioned it as the 4th and final.

That brings up a whole new discussion

What parks would be good if Disney took them over.

My vote easily goes to Sea World. Any others??? Would they even think of touching a coaster park?

To use an old James Bond title, "Never Say Never Again"

Every special I see, they always talk about the ability to expand and build more pars...

I would love to see expansion to all the parks rather than opening yet another park. It seems so ilogical to keep building parks. I think there should have only been one park in florida with 4 major lands. I know I am going to get jumped on about charging more admision and so on... But realy I don't understand why the fence can't be broken and a new section added or why we have to demolish something to add something new. Why did Walt buy all this land in the first place, to build 60 difrent competing parks.:hammer: Why oh why do we have to have a copy of a ride or a copy of a park in Florida. Is there no imagination left in the world? How about instead of Sea How about something completely difrent, and maybe it dosen't even have to be based on a movie. We'll call it "something difrent and revolutionary to the industry land".

I mean all of this in the most friendly way posible.:)

How was disney sea when you went? Unless you have gone there or intend to go to Japan isn't it a new park? I have the resources to go to WDW i can also get myself to DL. I have a friend with a house in france so i can even get to DLP but i dont see myself ever going to japan. Disney sea, even if its added onto one of the existing parks, would be something new for me and alot of other people.

convienience

I would realy like it if the built a carbon copy of all Disney atractions in my back yard, it would be realy convienient. But, I would love it even more if they would come up with something completely fresh, new and unexpected. People travel from all over the world to see what make Disney World unique, not what makes it the same.

I find the time frame for this (opening 2010) hard to believe since this is the same opening being discussed for the new Shanghai Disneyland.

Why doesn't Disney build a second park in Hong Kong before they open a whole new resort? (Isn't the area around the new Hong Kong park supposed to be turning into a huge vacation/tourist attraction?) With the exception of Hong Kond because its new, every Disneyland Resort in the world has two parks. If they open another "Magic Kingdom" elsewhere, will they feel obligated to fill out both new resorts out with a new second park? I'm not saying Florida should get new things before the rest of the world does (we already have four great parks.) I'm just wondering when they'll sink some time and money into creating unique projects here (such as a new section for AK or a great replacement for WoL.)

I'm sure they'd take a hard look at the accident/incident rates (rarely reported by the media) at coaster parks before accepting future negative publicity. (aka M:S)

In a couple of the specials I have seen on TV they said they did have land set aside for hotels forest preserve and new parks. I would bet they have the site already set aside.

I dont think a new park is a good idea at this time. The last thing Disney needs is another "1/2 day park". a lot of people still think AK and MGM are 1/2 day. Once they expand the current parks and update the things that REALLY need to be updated, then they can look at a 5th gate.

china is also HUGE with a LOOOOT of people in it, so that might be a reason to spread things out.

i agree with the idea of just adding to the existing parks rather than building a whole new park. until crowds start getting out of hand, i dont think there is a need for one. i like how it seems everytime i go, there is at least ONE new thing to see, i dont need a whole new park. there are constant discussions on this board about what should be updated next. people want to see another Imagination ride, some want another thrill ride in Epcot, some want beastly kingdom, some want a NBC ride, some want a harry potter ride. another park would just mean that these other things would be harder to get around to.

The article that the OP was looking at, wasn't actually Wikipedia. It was an answers.com cache of the original article, which is out of date. The article in question is here. The actual Wikipedia article is here. You will be glad to know that the offending text was removed a mere two days after it was posted.

Another issue no one's addressed on this thread is that Disney's already having problems staffing the 4 parks that they've got in FL - which means they are probably not in a position to keep adding parks in the same area until the area itself grows enough to support it.

Plus, I also agree that the "reimagineering" is much needed over a totally new concept.

This isn't really a repost, he is bringing to light a resource (wikipedia) that I haven't seen before.

Good point but I figured I would try to say it nicely before everyone got on the poor poster yelling and screaming, guess it backfired ! :p

Disney's American Seas

Is Disney completely lost?

Each park has it's own "theme". Epcot- technology/countries (ok, bad example here, but it is derived from the Epcot Center concept).... MGM-Movies/TV... MK-Fantisy... AK-Animals.

How does an American history / Seas concept work? They are two totally differant ideas. Seas seems to fit best with Animal Kingdom. After all, they are real animals, arent they? I can live with an American Park. It might be a little odd, but it could work. but a sea section added to Animal Kingdom seems like the most logical idea.

While Disney can be really good at keeping things under wraps, I have a hard time imagining that whenever the final steps of starting construction for a fifth park are initiated, it wouldn't be leaked and we'd know about it. In our internet era, it's hard to keep anything mum these days. Especially with all these forums, you'd think all us Disney nuts would know something before anything gets announced.

True but then what would "the living seas" be good for at Epcot? I heard last year from a few execs out of press realeases that they were going to strongly focus on their current parks (which is what they need to do IMHO) and is what they have been doing.

I think we have enough American themed with Liberty square..fronteirland..and The American pavilion at Epcot. It would not attract the foreginers that much so I think that idea is 100 percent doutful. WDW has to appeal to people from all over the world.
