Fifth Gate rumor

To put it simply, a 5th gate doesn't make sense, Beastly Kingdomme doesn't make sense, and buying out other themeparks doesn't make sense.

If I'm not mistaken, the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM and Epcot, rank first, third, fourth and fifth in attendance (with the Magic Kingdom in WDL as second). None of these parks are at their full capacity, making a $1 billion investment (an approximate cost for a new gate) doesn't make much sense right now. If you look at how they made Animal Kingdom, the attention to detail is better than any other park (as long as you don't consider a functional water system a "detail"). I'm guessing that Disney attempts to bring the other parks up to that same standard before expanding to a new gate. I actually wouldn't be surprised if some derevation of Disney Sea found it's way into the Animal Kingdom, just linked more tightly with aquatic animals. Although I havent' heard mention of this anywhere - it seems more plausible than Beastly Kingdomme.

Beastly Kingdomme was meant to be a land of mythical creatures. We have already set aside one of those mythical creatures in it's country of origin. It has been said that additional mythical creatures may be joining the Yeti, but it's very unlikely going to be in it's own land.

Buying another set of amusement parks would be a horrible investment. Disney would have to invest more than their initial purchase to re-invigerate these theme parks to bring them up to Disney standards. It would cheapen the Disney brand, they're better off selecting a single location and building from scratch, and given the bicoastal theme parks we already have in this country, that new location won't be in the United States.

Disney stuff, visible from the streets...
I realize that Celebration was concieved as a sort of utopia, but was this a rule when Disney built Celebration (so to speak), or did this rule come about after the de-annexation of Celebration?

Just curious, it seems kinda strange to me.

I do what I can - actually, this was meant to call attention to a screamscape rumor - and then basically say that it wasn't really based on any facts.

We all know the drill... Let's pump some dough into the 4 existing parks first. Especially D.Studios. But it's still fun to dream about "Florida Disney Seas Park"...:lookaroun

The Fith Gate has been officially declared to be named "Rumor Mountain" where all sorts of Disney Villians, Beastly Kingdoms, Harry Potter and Indy Jones attractions will be built. They will also expand the monorail to it.

I understand the Wikipiedia is user driven and alot of things are not actual factual but i stumbled accross this and through it would make for a good discussion point. Theye are claiming this is in the works for the fifth gate at WDW based on the original idea for the park in Virgina that never happened.

"New rumors have arisen that Disney's America would be combined with the Disney Sea concept for the fifth theme park to be built at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The timeframe for the park's opening is in the early 2010's. "

Not that Screamscape is any more reliable....but talk has surfaced there that a 5th gate is a possibility....

...possible development of a 5th park being talked about once again. We know Disney was once looking at ideas for a new park project after opening Animal Kingdom when all work was shelved by a combination of 9/11 and the dismal attendance and satisfaction levels from Animal Kingdom’s opening lineup of attractions. The poor performance across the country at Disney’s California Adventure only served to drive home the message that Disney’s latest batch of park designs just were not holding up to guest expectations and that the money they would spend on building a 5th park at the time would be better spent on improving the existing parks. At the time it was believed that if Disney were to open a 5th park it would have been around 2008. As we quickly approach this date and WDW is experiencing great attendance once again it seems they are thinking about reopening the idea vault and looking at ideas once again. Past ideas that generated a lot of popularity were a Florida version of Tokyo DisneySea as well as the infamous Disney’s Villains parks (aka: Shadowlands), though I’m sure there are other ideas as well. Now I’m not saying that they have approved anything at this point in time, or that they are even actively designing a new park right now, only that they are said to possibly be looking into the idea once again. Along with this idea however, they would also have to finalize a site for the project as well and we’ve heard a weird rumor that there may be a few pieces of construction equipment sitting somewhere in the Epcot parking lot (not sure if they meant public or CM lots) that may be there to clear a few sites for ground survey work in advance of any serious development.

I think "Rumor Mill" would be a better name for the 5th Gate. :D
