Pretty sure it's the support structure collapsing in concrete, or someting like that. Their is no flaw in the actual AA though- or else they couldn't go full A mode at all. But who knows, I got this from the interwebs.

Exactly. And what I heard also from others.

Weird Servo everything I heard about the Yeti is a design flaw.

Everything I've heard is summed up as some kind of cracking/wear and tear on the structure from stress. Of course it's built to handle stress, but the stresses of moving nonstop for about Four years with no real good looking over, preventive maintenance, or oversight and naturally the stresses would start to incrementally damage it's lifespan. A Rehab would've done a world of good, I'm sure.

Like I said, everything breaks sometime. Nothing is perfect forever in the world of mechanics.

To add to the confusion...
What I've heard is that it isn't a matter of a design flaw on the Yeti. He isn't faulty or malfunctioning.

I hear that due to the way the Yeti is constructed, he puts a lot of stress on the structure he is mounted to, which has resulted in damage.
Building a 2.0 Yeti will allow them to alter or redesign him so that they can get the desired effects without the damage to his surroundings.
Keep in mind that Yeti is the first of his kind. A prototype in many ways. They are having to learn as they go with him.

A refurb may have allowed them to repair the damage that was already done, but without doing either some major redesign work to the Yeti, or some serious rebuilding of the structure, it would likely just happen again.

No kidding? I thought it was in A-mode for, like, a year tops. It doesn't seem like it has been moving nonstop for four years straight, at any rate.

Correct.
Opened in January 2006. B-mode became the norm sometime in late 2007 or early 2008. Give it two years of full service.
Since April 2008 he hasn't been A-mode hardly at all, best I can recall.

In interviews with Joe Rohde he mentions that there was no opening big enough to get the Yeti in once the mountain was complete, thus the reason he was installed during the building phase. So this would seem to remove any way that they could get a yeti 2.0 into the mountain and mounted properly. There going to have to come up with a way to fix the base and reinforce it on the current yeti.

That was because the Yeti was built elsewhere, then shipped to DAK.

Solution: Build a new Yeti INSIDE the mountain!

True, fully assembled, the yeti won't fit out the door.
However, he can be removed the same way he went in, disassembled.
He's not permanently sealed up in there.

Well, I know they kept the crates inside the Mountain. As long as they repackage it well and have kept the receipt...Store credit?

If the Yeti isn't malfunctioning, can't they just take him apart, refurbish him, and put him back on a new foundation?

No, nevermind. They need a new yeti. I want a Yeti V.1 toe. :)

B-mode was not at all uncommon in 2007. Common enough, I would always ask the CM at the entrance what mode it was currently in.
They seemed annoyed to be asked...

Lee: "So is the Yeti in A-Mode or B-Mode?"

CM: "The Yeti is a very unpredictable and mysterious beast, sir. His moods are unknown to us."

Lee: "Right, but seriously...you got him moving today or not?"

CM: "Only the most intrepid and fortunate explorers have caught a glimpse of his movement. May you be so blessed on your venture this day."

Lee: *stares intently*

CM: "B-Mode! Sheesh! Have a magical frikkin' day!"

Sounds like a discussion I've often had with guests when they try to make sure the JC animals are "fake".

I've overheard parents tell their kids that the animals on Kilimanjaro Safaris are robots so I've gotta imagine cast members have conversations with some pretty stupid people.
