Specifically, what does the Yeti do (and not do) in B Mode? I've only seen him (if you can call that little tease you get on the ride "seeing") in A.

Exactly again. The difference between a and b mode is fairly meaningless to 90% of guests.

I'm serious, they should remove it from the mountain and build an attraction around it on ground level. Think of a combination of King Kong and Alien Encounter.

So, um...what's the answer to my question there, deputy? :lookaroun

I believe in b it does not move but they use strobes to create the illusion of movement. I think there are more than two options the use though. A, A-lite  and B.

But I'm not an expert on the yeti.

A-mode: Yeti leans toward track and takes a swipe with its arm over the heads of the train passengers.
A-mode "lite": Never seen it, don't know.
B-mode: Yeti is entirely stationary and they blow fans and flash strobe lighting on it to give the impression of movement [not terribly effectively, IMO]

I don't think anyone who has never seen A-mode would notice anything wrong necessarily, but as one who has seen it in its glory, B-mode is disappointing.

Once you see it in A mode it will matter to you. Yeti in B mode would be like the HM with the audio and motion turned off the the grave yard scene.

Wow, we had no idea as we've never seen it either, it will be awesome to have a new one then! Crossing my fingers this is true.

When was the last time EE was down for any sort of regular maintenance? It is about time that it was down for a week or so and really gone over.

If they going to replace him I really wish the sequence with the silhouette of the Yeti had the actual Yeti animatronic in it's place. It makes more sense because you have much more time with it and that's when the high speed portion of the ride begins.

I can honestly say I don't think I've ever seen the Yeti in "A" mode...:brick:

There's no way this is accurate. Anyone who's seen A before, heard of A, seen any of the promos, watched any of the TLC or whatever shows, knows that the yeti is supposed to move. And if you know it's supposed to, and you see B mode, you know something's wrong. And there's no way that's only 10% of guests.

But I'm quite positive that TDO at least hopes you're correct, whether they believe that number or not.

I can not tell you how disappointed I am that Disney has not corrected this issue yet. I realize it's not a cheap/easy fix but having the Yeti not perform at its potential is like taking the water out of the final drop of Splash Mountain. It's still a good ride, but the pay off at the end is just not the same. I remember being there the year E:E opened and was literally frightened at the Yeti because I thought our train car was heading straight at his arm! Now... not so much. A-mode is definitely something that should be experienced by all who enter DAK... not just the lucky ones back in 2006. Please Disney... if for some reason you do troll these boards... make this happen before the 40th.

Yea, the yeti generates plenty of complaints.

Last time I saw it was Animal Kingdom's 10th Anniversary, and I believe that was the last day it was in full operation.
Me, too.
That day everything was working...excpet for the second waterfall...and the cave mist...heck, even the "blowing show on the mountain" effect was working that day.

Of course, Joe was there....that could make a difference.

That is still quite a big list of 'not working' out of a limited number of effects.
