Disney(World) vs. Disney(land)?

Wait did bullsforthewin actually say because wikipedia says Avengers was produced by Marvel and distributed by Disney was proof that Paramount had nothing to do with the movie??? So, I guess WIkipedia is right and IMDb is wrong... A legit movie database site is wrong... Wow, imagine that...

Hold on... I want to look at the movie poster for a minute to see if I missed something:

avengers-movie-poster-1.jpg

I see Paramount... I see Paramount's logo.. Hmm, no mention of Disney...But Wikipedia is right and the movie poster is wrong too...

Instead of arguing over Wikipedia or imdb.. Why not simply reference news about the deal's details
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/ent...ibute-avengers-iron-man-3-from-paramount.html

Disney simply took over distribution - not production

I believe I asked earlier in this thread, but I don't think anybody replied so I'm going to try again (I don't mean to be repetitive, sorry!). Does anyone know if there are any plans, solid or otherwise, for Epcot once Test Track 2.0 is opened? Perhaps pertaining to Imagination and Wonders of Life? While I agree that Disney's Hollywood Studios needs the most help, I think Epcot (particularly Future World) comes to a close second.

I'm laughing to hard to type. This has been fun.

On a side note, thank you 74' for the great start to the thread.

It has killed my night. I actually had work to get to that was blown off a couple of hours ago. I can hear a very dear friend saying 'YOU ARE ARGUING WITH JT?!?!? HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND?!??!' ... and she'd be right.

I just hope all the news (much of it good, really!) isn't burried by the inane ramblings of trolls.

Also, for Spirit and/or Lee: Is there any timeframe we should be looking to for the winds o'change to begin gusting?

It was hinted a few times, hoping I caught this right. Please tell me if I'm wrong. I saw mention of Avatar getting held up while other things not yet known to the masses are picking up steam. If so, are there issues with James or is it a budget or priority thing?

So, Spirit, is there any word of removal of certain chicks & their minions from the TDO leadership? Would this maybe be part of the intervening from Burbank? Or is that wishful thinking?

Meg has some rather serious health concerns (and ones that really aren't any of our business) and I would expect her out of Disney very soon. She could make it to next year or on a quiet Friday before Veteran's Day weekend see Disney slip out a release saying she retired. Burbank isn't looking to get rid of her as they understand she is leaving.

the bigger question is who takes over and who leaves with her ... TDO seems to love Danny Cockerell largely because Lee (no, not our Lee ... he has fathered 18 other kids with 16 different women!!!) is his Daddy and I worry that he is being groomed for that role. If this Studios project goes through, just watch as he takes credit for it even when his predecessor begged, borrowed and pleaded for anything in that park and was constantly shot down.

DHS needs something but please, Disney, while pumping money into WDW, give us something for DAK as well.. even if it isn't Pandora... give us something with that WOW factor and would keep us in the parks all day, and would keep it open at night too...

Yes, that is indeed the case. I misspoke, it happens. Marvel actually created the film when they were independent and Viacom always had the distribution rights. Disney bought them out for about $115 million, which included Iron Man 3 rights but Paramount still went on the film as per the contract. Disney also had to pay a chunk of gross to Paramount.

But I doubt this is nearly as important as it is being made out to be. ... Disney did basically nothing but marketing and the film made a small fortune. Paramount did less than nothing and got a huge check.

They already are.

I am anxious to get to LA next month (not simply to go to DLR, for free, and go to the Emmys and assorted Academy events, also for free and pretend .. I mean live my Top 1%er lifestyle) to hopefully connect with some top folks in and out of Disney and see what I can dig up (I really should be paid for this!!!)

I can't comment more on Avatar because everything is very fluid right now. There are folks at WDW who absolutely think the Studios redo will be well underway before Pandorans fly on their winged creatures over to DAK to start destroying the beautiful FLA swamp and scrub ... and that major parts of the Studios redo would open well before Pandora.

I'm just tired of being attacked for stating facts and I admit I don't know them on this question, so I'd rather not even guess.

Oh. Hadn't heard Meg was unwell. Definitely the right thing to do (not that many companies care that much nowadays) to let her leave on her own then. LOL @ the Lee thing. I'm guessing it's not our Lee who's had 18 kids with 16 women. What a busy guy! Even if the FNG comes in patting his own back, I can stroke an ego (with a serious eye roll) if it stokes the flame that makes things continue to happen. Thanks for the answer, dear. ;)

Actually, I was joking about our Lee ... he really ain't a baby-making machine, which is probably a good thing. They'd likely pop out of Mrs. Lee (a beautiful woman, I am her second husband!) with Horizons schematics looking like birthmarks on their behinds!

And anything for you, darling. Glad to hear the old man is taking you on a cruise. Hope you have smooth sailing and the only rocking is in the MAGICal cabin.

I am actually sorta thinking of doing a Wonder cruise out of Miami next spring. My two issues are length (ony five nights) and price (more than what I paid for my lousy transatlantic on Celebrity!) But I could use a cruise now. hell, I could use 10 days in Amsterdam like a certain friend who is leaving in 10 hours!

On a somewhat related topic for this thread (general updates to the parks in Orlando), has there been any consideration given to moving CoP from Tomorrowland to Epcot? Maybe a new home in the former Wonders of Life pavilion as part of an intro to a new Horizons attraction (hey, a fan can dream can't he?)

This would allow Disney to quickly add the new TL attraction destined for DL's Innoventions to the MK's TL as well.

Again, gotcha and thanks for the responses. I've enjoyed your thread and, as you can see, identify with a lot of it. It's a relief to think that maybe, just maybe things will finally make a turn. I'll try to keep my chin up with you and keep the hope alive. Til then, enjoy Cali! I'll be soaking up the warm rays and salt air with Mickey & the gang next month! Woot!

74 amazing thread idea just sorry it turned into this

I am hoping things will get cleaned up. And we can continue tomorrow without the nonsensical BS that plowed in tonight.

What truly astounds me is this was a thread about good (maybe great) stuff coming to WDW and we still got an idiot troll (maybe our old pal) and we got the worst behavior from JT (who I, like most here, have been trying to figure his purpose since joining) ... ughhh .. good night!

There's some kickin discounts out there for this fall, 'specially for the Florida crew. Don't miss it. We scored an albeit short voyage with a verandah for less than 2 nights WDW deluxe. Just sayin... And FYI, Next May.. 25th.... western with the new girl. Bring a friend. Drinks on me.

Now why else would the old man go to such lengths to scratch the ball-n-chain's back if he didn't want his scratched?? I don't care how old y'all get, boys are strange & predictable. But I can't live without ya so where does that leave me. Oh so saaaaad....

A version of RSR was penciled in to the south end of Pixar Place during the design phase. It was included in white study models but as far as I know it was simply a future addition at the time. This was early 2007.

I wouldn't be surprised if something Cars related makes it's way to WDW, but I would hate a RSR clone.

Preferably I'd like to see an "off-road" style ride.

Regardless, the thought of TDO finally coming to their senses makes me happy.

I can't say I've ever gotten an answer to the question 'why?' in regard to a Disney Star Wars mini-land or simply new attractions.

I'm sure WDI could come up with great concepts. But I'm fairly certain neither Disney nor Lucas want to do this.
That brings up the 'why?'

But it does seem mutual and deep and I wouldn't expect that to suddenly change.

Nooooo so disappointed!! :(:(:(

How many years now has it been since Disney stopped discussing the domestic resorts individually? Even when Disney's California Adventure was at its worst, was it ever lumped in with other Resorts to look better? Either Disney has bought into a US DisneyPark is a US DisneyPark is a US DisneyPark or there is a reason to lump together two Resorts operated on opposite sides of a continent.

Radiator Springs Racers will simply not work without Cars Land. It is just that simple. So much of the attraction is built on the scenery.
While I dislike dissing any attraction, I feel the same about Fantazmic at DHS. It doesn't have the scenery that's at Rivers Of America at DLR. Just my personal opinion about the ambiance, not the quality of the show.
