How many people visited IOA last year? How many visited MK and Epcot? Why can't Marvel fix both?
Pixar was thrown into every park under the sun afterall and Marvel is far more appealing to park guests
Agreed again.84 pages of drivel like this? ... What's abundantly clear is there is a large number of comic geeks here who also happen to like WDW ... and a larger percentage of those folks don't get what this deal is about and what it isn't ... and worse ... what Disney parks like MK and EPCOT are all about.
No wonder Disney can dumb its offerings down so much. If people here actually can rationalize how Marvel characters have a place in a MK-style park (and everyone from Disney or close who I've heard talking say that's not ever happening anyway, which doesn't stop the insane banter from going on ad nauseum), then how much damage can a little blue alien or a cute wittle clownfish do?
And the thought that Marvel is more appealing to guests than Pixar is quite simply crazy.
Pixar films appeal to folks across all demos ... that's why films from Toy Story to Finding Nemo to Cars to Ratatouille to Up are huge successes.
Unlike superhero films that have a much, much, much smaller spread of fans beyond fanbois who may see an X-men or Transformers or Ironman multiple times.
It's a very select comic book film that gets into the public consciousness. The Dark Knight certainly would be the biggest. But there are few.
Why these threads aren't moved to the Comic Book Board is beyond me ... except they are driving traffic.
But they have nothing to do with WDW News or Rumors ... Disney Business or Universal ... but that's about it.
That seems closer to the truth.I think this deal is purely about Disney expanding their reach as a media powerhouse, adding to their television, movie, theme park, and overall entertainment muscle. That's all it is. If you have the extra money to acquire one of the top names in a business that relates, why not do it? They've done it before with ABC.
That said, I think it is kind of a bizarre match, and somewhat strange deal considering the limited options Disney has (at present) with some of the major properties in regards to movies and theme parks, what I would say are Disney's two core businesses.
So by that logic, WDW was never really operated by the real Disney company. Disney should be building attractions that create characters, not the other way around. The real Disney company died with Walt and Roy. Let Stan Lee and George Lucas take the reigns now and shepard us into a new utopia!
I do not think he is, it just depends on the change.Don't be afraid of change. It comes where you like it or not.
