Disney+Foot Problems=What Shoes?

This last trip, I brought running shoes and the Alice crocs (the only ones I can bring myself to wear) and my feet always hurt at the end of the day, but always less when wearing the crocs.

Now, I don't have any serious foot/ankle issues (my knee is my problem) so I don't know if they'd help in your situation... just sayin' my tootsies felt better in them

Crocs have VERY thick soles. I have stepped on roofing tacks with them and not felt a thing. Also, the real Crocs are non-slip. As for irritating skin, that is all based on you, I've never had a problem.
only some of the new crocs have extra non-slip rubber souls on them, all the original crocs' bottoms would wear off in like a month of wearing them. I had a piece of glass cut the bottom of my foot while wearing crocks. They do not irritate my skin. But, crocs and Merrells are all I wear. I would go with crocs. They have a ton of different styles that don't look like clogs now. I have the Islanders. they look like a crock sperry hybrid.

Thanks so much for everyones input! :sohappy: Very helpful. I just ordered a pair of crocs...I'll try them out around before the trip and see how I feel in them!

Have you asked your doctor what he/she would recommend? Remember, you'll be walking miles on pavement every day so you definitely want something comfortable. Anything other than cheap flip flops or dress shoes should be fine. (You wouldn't believe the number of women wearing heels I've seen over the years :lookaroun )

Funny actually...my podiatrist is a Disney NUT and says walking shoes all the way, but I personally don't like to wear them. I guess I should listen huh:lol:

I would try New Balance. They supposedly make the best sneakers for your feet. If you can't find a nice pair of NB Zips for a reasonable price (a just got a pair for $40), then you should see if there are any Nike Factory Stores (AKA outlet stores) near you. Several outlet centers like Tanger have a Nike Factory Store. They have nice shoes for great prices. Good luck finding a nice pair.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Just take their motorized wheelchairs, it helps you skip lines.

I love my New Balance walking shoes, but I have to say that I used crocs on our last trip & it was the first time my feet/legs did not ache at the end of the day. :)

To be honest, I would go to a sporting goods store that has specialists in footwear. Not all stores will have this, but somewhere in your town you should be able to have someone who can fit you in the proper shoe by judging your arch type and watching your gait to determine your pronation type. From there, they can tell you the shoes which are best for you. Most people shop by brand loyalty and what works for others, but honestly this is the best way to find what's best for you. It may be an Asics model, New Balance, Nike... who knows. Call around town and see which stores can help you out

Some people will swear by Crocs. Some by flip flops. But I always think that at the end of the day, a good athletic shoe offers the best support for your foot. Just be sure to break them in!

Thanks...that's a very good idea...never thought of having that done!

Yeah...for me, flip flops in Disney = :fork::brick::cry::hammer:

I have feet issues as well. I wear crocs with a good pair of well padded white socks. I still hurt a bit after a full day at the parks, it does help a bunch. I've tried running shoes and believe it or not Justin's work boots. The Justin's were the most comfortable but kind of hard to wear with shorts.

I wear them with socks too. They look stupid but my feet like it. Also, they have to be real crocs- not the generic ones.

Wow!
I should take that class just to find the right shoes...it's such a challenge!

I recently learned about Superfeet insoles. I have plantar fasciitis that results in severe pain after a day on my feet. I found a store near me and tried out Superfeet insoles in my most comfortable shoes and my feet are so much better and ready for days of walking at WDW :D My DH & DD also got Superfeet for their shoes and love them. http://http://www.superfeet.com/

How many MILES is the average day at a Disney World theme park?

Personally, I wear Nike's all the time, and being meant for high impact I have not found an issue on full days at the park. Father-in-law works for Nike (I refer to him as "my supplier"), so I have 6 pair broken in and at my disposal.

I concern here may be trying to be totally reliant on good shoes when one's legs are not used to the daily trek THAT IS either AK, MK, DHS or Epcot. Shoes are not going to be the hear-all, end-all if you are not ready for the MILES you will walk.

With all that said, the kids are 7, 5 and 2 -- I tend to stay on my toes.

I also suffer from foot issues, along with anke swelling. On our last trip to WDW, I bought 2 pairs of Crocs, not the original type, but a new style, sling back flat called Malindi. I love those shoes and didn't have any problems walking, or foot pain. A good idea would be to find a Croc's outlet near you so you can try on for size and see how they feel.

After I had feet surgery (on both) I was weiry as well about what to wear. Well, this forum recommended crocs.I think they are very ugly, sorry people, but found crocs that look like mary janes. I bought them in black from zappos (they are free shipping both ways so if you don't like them you can return them at no cost to you) and really like them. They were comfy and great to wear in the water parks, too. I also suggest getting a good pair of sneakers...walking shoes. It is good to switch shoes, too.
