Dinosaur quietly losing sponsorship? (No surprise really)

To me it always seemed somewhat comical that a paleontological research center advanced enough to come up with time travel available to the general public was sponsored by a company whose claim to fame was putting thousand island dressing on a burger and calling it secret sauce as well as developing what is considered the pinnacle of the fast food french fry.:lol:

They teamed up with McDonalds so they could travel back in time to find out exactly what Grimace is.
(Purple JellO mold? Purple "twin" popsicle with legs?, Purple spice drop?)
Another thing...why is he called "Grimace" if he's always smiling?

Grimace. Grimace is an anthropomorphic purple being. Originally, Grimace was the "Evil Grimace", with two pairs of arms with which to steal milkshakes. After that first campaign, the character was revised to be one of the "good guys", and his number of arms was reduced by two. Commercials and merchandise generally portrayed him as a well-meaning simpleton, whose clumsy antics provided a comic foil to Ronald McDonald. The character was retained after the streamlining of the characters in the '80s. He was voiced by Frank Welker.

Grimace stealing milkshakes, Hamburglar stealing burgers, and then those pesky Fry Guys!
And we think crime is bad now. McDonaldland was always in the middle of a crime spree.

I am so glad mcDonalds is leaving i remeber when i went to animal kingdom and dinoland was sponsered by McDonalds i hate that all those rides liked like carneval rides you could put up and take down in a day. If i really wanted a McDonalds i could travel 5 minutes to get it.

Yea...McDonalds had nothing to do with the building of Dinoland...

I actually liked McD's being there... it was like a little bit of home... mmmm--McD's fries... just enough of home to bring the comfort, but not enough to break the magic.
Besides, I can't help but feel that getting rid of McD's is partly a health image thing: "Look at us--we don't have the bad-for-you food of McD's!" For me, that's really just a type of political correctness, and I really don't have any tolerance for PC...

I agree about the non-tolerance of Political correctness, it is the demise of free intellect and individualism.
And, i could care less WHO sponsored the ride. Money talks, whomever pays up, gets the advertisement.
WDW has ALWAYS had sponsorship of some attractions.
Im a White Castle guy, lets HOPE they sponsor in WDW, nothin better than some sliders.

Disney should strike a deal with the National Geographic Society to sponsor Dinosaur. That would be a freaking brilliant collaboration.
Not sure the Nat Geo has the same free cash laying about available to Ronald McDonald. Disney made a big mistake letting loose of that sponsorship agreement, unless Burger King is on the way, but he's uber-creepy. Speaking of, I just don't want to see that red headed Wendy character running around the parks. No amount of money is worth setting that loose on happy vacationers!
Anyway, National Geographic owes Disney after that hatchet job article on Orlando growth a couple years ago. :lookaroun

Me & my good buddy alecshawn like to take anything close to nutritional out of big mac -like the lettuce & pickles - and whip 'em at poor people's heads. They're mad for like a second, but then they remember they'rev poor and eat the lettuce & pickles so it's win-win. He's a firefighter & I taught Jack Bauer all he knows so we're allowed. So there.

I thought that the Countries in world Showcase were sponsored by the country the represent.

I think that's the thing...Disney doesn't NEED brand recognition within their parks because Disney in itself is a recognized brand. Many of us, when we go to Disney parks, we want to be as immersed in the Disney brand as possible. Having McD locations scattered about the property made that immersion a little more difficult.
As for McD sponsoring something within the parks, I could care less one way or another. But, I didn't care much for seeing McD locations all around the parks. Is it different from getting a Disney burger and fries? In my eyes, yes. Because the Disney burger and fries is just that....DISNEY burger and fries. I can't just go down the street and get those (I actually like a lot of the food at Disney, so I want Disney food when I visit). I go to Disney to escape reality...but with McD's everywhere, I would turn a corner, and reality would smack me in the face. I'm just glad Disney didn't bring in more franchises into the parks (excluding sponsorships...I understand the need for sponsorships, and they don't bother me a bit). Well, except Rainforest Cafe in AK...but that's different to me than having a McD's in the parks.
