Dinosaur quietly losing sponsorship? (No surprise really)

I eat at McDonalds more than I'd care to admit. But munching their fries in the parks seemed strange to me. Every time I turn my head in the real world, I see another McDonalds. Why would I want to eat their food on my cherished Disney vacation? Some rip Disney's fast food, but there's plenty of yummy options.
Let's hope Dinosour gets a new sponsor that insists on bringing back the effects the ride's missing now. I know it's a longshot, but.................

What is happening with Restaurantosaurus? I remember walking into to that place once and saw the inside was a McD's. Now I enjoy a Big Mac like most, but not in the park at Disney. We turned around and walked out. I wasn't too happy because it was EMH night and nothing else was open. This was in May 05 when EMH started up again.

Some people....especially kids are creatures of habit. Too much change is uncomfortable for them. When on vacation they are in a strange and unfamiliar place and a little piece of home....like McDonald's...helps elevate that. Also kids are incredibly picky eaters. You can put the best fresh cut, peanut oil fried, french fries in front of them and they will not touch them because they are different than what they are used to. McDonald's helped with that as well.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Well, I'm not going to miss a McD's in the park, hopefully we as guests won't miss out on anything losing a sponsor.

But good riddance to them. I enjoy an Egg McMuffin every once in awhile, don't get me wrong. But the McDonalds brand was just not a good fit for Disneyland and other Disney parks. Disney needs to keep their parks as the Tiffany & Co. of theme parks, not the WalMart of theme parks. McDonalds wasn't helping with the Tiffany scene.
I too think McDonald's was not appropriate for the Disney Parks. I'm just wondering if we're going to see a slowly degrading Dinosaur attraction without a sponsor...
How is it that McDonald's doesn't fit? It can't be the food. There are burgers and fries available all over the place. It can't be the idea of a sponsorship, as there are sponsors all over the place. McDonald's is just a special case? Disney and McDonald's are probably two of the most recognized brands worldwide. They seem to fit just fine together.

That being said, I have never eaten McDonald's in the parks simply because there's plenty of other food that I'd rather have. If other guests want to get the meals at McDonald's, more power to them. And as far as the Tiffany & Co. example goes, "premier" does not have to translate to "expensive."

I have no problem at all with McDonald's slowly dropping out of the parks and the company as a whole. I think losing this major fast food chain is a good image for the parks offering healthier options. :)

Um...have you seen their menus?

Healthier options are few and far between.

I aggree. McDonalds has healthier choices on their menu than most WDW counter service restaurants do.

The only McDonalds options in the parks were fries, Chicken McNuggets and Mc Flurries. Not one of these were a healthful option.

First, if you happen to be in a place where there is a Tiffany's, it doesn't cost anything to walk inside and look around.

Well, depending on whether we are talking about the jeweler or a different type of Tiffany's. :zipit: I presumed BigB911 was talking about the place that sells diamonds, but who knows.

Second, no matter how many times you've seen the movie or heard the song there is no breakfast at Tiffany's, so that should probably be clear as well.

Umm...

Is $100 coming from Tiffany's more than $100 coming from McDonald's?

Why are we saying Good Riddance to a sponsor of an attraction? Sponsors keep the attractions going and give Disney the ability to keep the rates down.

I don't care one way or another who's shelling money over to Disney to keep attractions open and taken care of (ok, this last bit is a stretch as of late).

Would I rather eat at a Gordon Ramsey-run restaurant over a McDonalds? Heck yeah, but if either of those two were giving me $100...I wouldn't choose one or the other.

They don't fit together simply because McDonalds isn't known to be classy...when people think of McDonald's they thing of a fast food joint on every street corner with way too greesy food and isn't all too clean inside.

Disney has a brand image of classy and wholesome family fun whether in the form of a themepark, tv show, or movie. Disney's brand is known as being "premier" as you put it.

Primier does not have to translate into expensive...but "cheap" or "fast food" does not translate into "premier."

It's just an image Disney does not need to associate with the parks.

That might be what you think of, but everyone might not. Same goes with Disney, some people think it is a classy, wholesome place, others do not. :animwink:

How about this for a different perspective?

We were there last November, and had free dining. We ate better than
ever before while there, some great food and restaurants.

After the trip was over, my 7 year old commented that the McDonald's fries in the Studios that we ate just before Fantasmic was HIS FAVORITE MEAL.

Great comfort food for a kid. I know when we go back he's going to look for that fry stand and be disappointed!

Actually, they were really fresh and tasty.

i can see what the post was all about, i think what they mean is that disney should be seen as a premium brand (not necessarily expensive but a premium) and having mcds in the parks nowadays, isnt seen to be the right thing by many people. And how many lawsuits can there be ''im suing disney cause i ate a macdonalds there and now im obese''.
i think its a good thing they are still available at the all star area if anyone needs them, other wise take the mcdisney instead.
beside if disney are now doing the catering its more money straight into there tills.$$

Isn't today's youth great? McDonald's French Fries are their favorite meal...

This thread is about Dinosaur losing sponsorship from McDonalds.

McDonalds isn't "classy" enough? What is across the "street" from Dinosaur?

Umm, fits the theme perfectly IMO.
