Just give it a bigger sign - the main problem ops admitted they had (and didn`t correct in time) with Timekeeper. Yep - simple as that. And then of course give it some TLC and a new fourth act.

I fail to see how a building 166ft wide (plus WEDWay) which is rotating is easy to miss...

If you got rid of the un-ecological, noisy, waste of space that is the Indy Speedway, there would be more than enough room for any idea that they may have up their sleeves.

good point...but I think Indy still attracts more crowds than CoP...especially children

yeah, a new sign would definitly be a good start.
And, for example, a Character Greeting spot there would be ideal...

The reason the CoP isn't popular has alot to do with the fact that the ride sits off in a corner of tomorrowland with no other things to draw people over there. There is no sponsor for the ride to help fix it up and promote it. The building the ride is housed in is plain and bland compared to the other "new tomorrowland" facades. There is a theatre available every 4 minutes that can hold over 200 people, and make little to no line, making people think the ride is closed.

Since the new tomorrowland makeover in 1994, and certainly after 9/11 the show has seen fewer crowds, mainly because they don't know its there or what it is, not so much that they don't like it.

If CoP was something more than a quaint, mildly amusing diversion, none of the above would matter. It would be packed. I appreciate that many Disney fanatics love this attraction, but I doubt the average guest has strong positive feelings toward it or plans any of their day around it. This, to Disney, makes it expendable.

I think it would be cool if they integrated a new indoor attraction with the Speedway. You could drive the cars inside and back out, though I haven't thought about a theme.

Tomorrowland Speedway 2.0: "Put 'em in space!"

Just theme the cars to spaceships and have you navigate around planets, past cartoon aliens, and into a black hole.

No, Carousel of Progress isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

A) It isn't out of the way, and it IS busy during the peak seasons. It's only deserted on slower days (which ain't too often anymore), just like other misfortuned rides like Horizons etc. (May they rest in peace)

b) They have yet to come up with a replacement attraction that either appears to be a visible upgrade and/or doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Ironically, MK's own skinflint management is working in COP's favor.

c) With Space Mountain about to go down for we-don't-know-how-long, and MK now filled to bursting almost every day as is, now is most definitely NOT the time to simultaneously take out one of the park's "people-eaters."

d) Like previous posters have stated we have areas like Galaxy Palace and Skyway just sitting there. Why knock down one of your classics when you got open unutilized space right next door?

e) They would be stupid to waste another one of Uncle Walt's "legacy" attractions. Or would they... :zipit:

If you got rid of the Skyway building, there's enough room for a mid sized dark ride.

There are expansion plots in Tomorrowland that haven't been touched.

:sohappy:

If there's any attraction that needs to go...It's that one.Noisy and smelly are NOT Disney quality.

Or,they could move CoP to Innoventions. Those buildings were build for expansion-and Innoventions needs a few draw.I wouldn't mind.

Innoventions really does need something. I don't know what... just SOMETHING! I don't think showcasing future technologies of the world should include Velcro and a few PS2s and Xbox 360s.

Just think, if Epcot Center could have made a little more money, CoP might have actually been moved there, and today there would be a people mover running through CommuniCore and the Centorium...

Stop it!Stop it!

Your utopian view for the real utopia is too much to handle!

Seriously though,I wish. But I do believe the CoP migration could happen. It's logical and let's face it:They need room in TL and Innoventions needs something. It couldn't be a standalone pavilion(I know it was in 1964) so why not *add* it to Innoventions?

*There's a bright big beautiful tomorrow....*

Wouldnt it be nice if it were incoporated into Wonders of Life as a new pavilion! I know not going to happen, I think Disneys thinking is we musnt put an attraction there only special event space . I dont think the whole sponsorship thing around there is working much anymore anyway. Theres room for more than that in there too of course, but that sure would be a nice spot for COP as part of it.

I was in a packed house in 2005 2006 and midway in 2007.Why are we worrying?

I don't think it could stand alone as a pavilion in EPCOT.Theme-wise and size-wise it wouldn't work.A pavilion based only on technological progress kinda undermines the rest of them, even if we do have SSE (Which is like Horizons 5.0)It would fit in Innoventions though-seeing how "just around the corner" technolgy influences your life is what CoP is all about.

I really don't see Disney putting the time, money, and effort into moving CoP to Epcot though. At least 95% of park guests wouldn't even care.

I'm confident it won't be gutted soon, so it'll either stay the way it is for X amount of years, then tear it down.

Or... they could update it! (Does anyone have a brainwashing chip that we could implant in Iger's heard to make him do that? :lookaroun)

Most if not all of the people complaining about the little race car go carts are people whose kids no longer are really young and want to drive the car. Indy is as popular as ever with the little ankle biters for whom it is intended. . . so a word to the haters - not every ride is for you.

a Character Greeting spot for CoP would have to be for a Walt Disney character himself. "Hi, I'm Uncle Walt. Come experience my personal baby of a ride. Forget everything else here, CoP is da bomb." :lookaroun

It might be a little different if our Speedway was half as interesting as Autopia at Disneyland. The themeing is much, much better on Autopia and I will make sure to ride it at least once on upcoming trips there. Our Speedway on the other hand, I'll more than likely never take the time to ride it in the future. There are plenty of other attractions that could appeal to kids even more than the Speedway does if they decided to build them there.

MissM has posted some great photos of the touch ups already happening over at Carousel of Progress here.

As I said, they are going to continually work on touching it up. Until the day comes that they decide to remove it (which isn't anytime soon), they will continue to work on upkeep of the attraction and make sure that it is there to relieve Tomorrowland and the rest of the park's attractions that have a history of long lines...
