Buy 4 get 7 returning! Well sorta!

Just checking my math here...we're going for 10 days in December. To see if this is a viable option I need to figure on 7 days at rack rate and 7 day MYW tickets and we'd get 3 days free...

If this is the case my existing package is still a much better deal (by $700)...am I figuring this right?

On a side note...does anyone know if they're still offering those pre-paid gift cards where you buy so much and they give you more?

Not to go off on a rant here (but I'm going to), this makes me mad! I am a DVC member and generally get squat. No free (or even discounted) dining plan, no extra nights, no free passes, nuttin. Yes, I know, I get $100 off an annual pass (wow :hammer:) and have locked in my room rate for the next 100 years, but, hello Disney  throw me a bone over here, would ya???

OK, rant over. :zipit: Thanks for listening.

Judy

Not to sound condescending, but this is the exact reason we decided against the DVC membership. It seems like you can do much better (value wise) without doing DVC. With that being said, you're right. It doesn't seem fair.

yeah, if the gift card is back, I'm in... can't beat that deal, even offsite.

How did the giftcard work last year? Could you just apply it towards your balance/purchases/food during the trip, or were their restrictions on it?

When buying the 1 day ticket, can I apply the value of that ticket to an AP renewal when that time comes?

He said you would have to buy tickets for the length of your stay, which would mean 7 days worth of tickets. So, I'm guessing it won't be of any benefit to us AP holders. :brick:

I'm hearing the deal will be announced Wednesday (9/30) for booking Thursday (10/1). Disney Visa cardholders may hear about it on Monday (9/28).

Travel dates should be 10/1/2009 through 3/20/2010. Value resorts will have a Buy-5-Get-7 (as opposed to B-4-G-3 at mods and deluxes).

That's about all I know right now. Will post back if I hear more.

Im with you on DVC membership. My mom owns Interval International which at the time was bone cheap (1994) compared to Disney and actually I can travel anywhere I want in the world at a very cheap price (hotels). DVC seems to ONLY be good if you want Disney specific properties and even still its a gamble if you can get in (once a year). Plus I do not like the point system. When I am ready to go - I am ready to go.

Anywho, I am surprised DVC members do not get EVERYTHING. I am happy with my AP pass and living my life!!

Thanks Len! So are you saying the values will be a buy 5, get 2 nights free (as opposed to the buy 4, get 3 nights free)? Interesting...

This couldn't have come at a better time, I was just waiting on the next paycheck to get the reservation ball rolling, and now next week I may have a slick deal to work with.

We were planning on going with a moderate, so here's hoping for the 4-3 deal.

The giftcard would be nice too, thats a snowglobe and several themed MK and retro EPCOT t-shirts. I would be happy with just the 4-3 deal though.

Thanks!

From the Unofficial guide website:

Details are still being worked out, but we’ve heard from multiple, usually-reliable sources that Disney’s Buy-4-Get-7 deal will return next week. The announcement may be made as early as Monday, but could be as late as Thursday. Value resorts will have a slightly different “Buy-5-Get-2″ deal. Travel dates, we hear, could be October 1, 2009 through March 31, 2010. Book by December 20, 2009 (we think that’ll be extended). And you must purchase Magic Your Way tickets to match the number of nights of your stay.
Take all of this with a grain of salt, in particular the announcement dates.

Well, I hope, if this is true, that the final dates will be different, as our proposed trip begins April 19!

However, even though we didn't go at all this year, I'm kind of thinking I remember the 2009 4/3 deal starting out with one set of dates, and then getting extended once or twice so as to include the dates that we normally would have gone (sometime in April), had we done a trip this year. Here's to hoping that happens again!

OK, stupid question but I need to ask.
For values, (as speculated) will it be buy 5 nights, get two nights free (hence a total trip of 7 nights, 8 days). Or is it buy 5 days, get 2 days free (hence a total trip of 6 nights, 7 days).

We plan on going Feb 12 - Feb 18 (6 nights, 7 days).

Think of it this way.. you don't buy "days" in a hotel room, right? You stay a certain number of nights, and that is what you pay for. So for this promotion you pay for 5 nights in a value resort, and you will get 2 nights free. So if you are planning a 6 night stay, you would only get 1 free night. If you are able to stay an extra night, the price would be the same, because you get 2 free nights when you purchase 5.

Or in the case of our 9 night stay at AKL in January it would be pay for 6 & get 3 free. That comes out to about $1200 saved.

However, we're Disney Visa cardholders, AP, & FL residents. If it's required to book length of stay tickets I won't use this discount. I'll wait for something for AP or FL resident that's room-only. If I can book the 4/3 discount with just a 1 day base ticket (like we did last year) I'll do it. We still have my DH's room key from last year with his unused 1 day ticket on it. We could have that one + the new one stripped to apply towards his new pass since his is the only one in our family that will be expired.

My in-laws will do well with this discount. I'll be watching closely for them!

Very happy to see this up here....just came back yesterday from WDW and i am already in the midst of planning a late January visit. This is the deal i was hoping they would re-run, as last years offer was swell.

Let's hope they add the Gift Card givaway to the package this time..too!

Many thanks for the heads up!

Ok, here's what is confusing me about this offer - I just went to the WDW site to get quotes for Dec 3-10, to compare non-discounted prices and my search is turning up no free rooms at the value resorts or most of the moderates. The only thing at the moderates are suites at Coronado Springs... if this offer is going to be offered during this time frame, what rooms are going to be filled? And does this make sense for that time frame? We picked this time to go because we expected crowds to be lighter... Or is this just a snafu in Disney's reservation system?
