Whoa...whoa....easy now.
Let's not get carried away!
Imagination, in any of it's forms, never got within shouting distance of the Mansion.

I disagree.

The original was on that level for me, IMO. If not, it was right behind it in terms of WDW dark rides .

So something I still don't understand.

Rio De Janeiro is coming as a stand to the F&WF?

Yes, it's new this year.

From AllEarsNet:

Rio de Janiero, Brazil Location: Showcase Plaza
  • • Shrimp Stew with Coconut and Lime
    • Grilled Pork Skewer with Farofa

    • Beverage Selection : Leblon Frozen Caipirinha :sohappy:

I'll take anything new, especially one that expands WS which I love.

I would have preferred Australia, Greece, or Sweden (Imagine the Swiss Exchange Ladies!! ;) ) ... but I will take Brazil if this is actually more than just a rumor.

I can't...I'm still imagining the Brazilian Ladies...freshly waxed...

I could understand the push for a Latin American presence other than Mexico, but I don't know about this one.

I'd imagine that Greece or Russia would be more stimulating and visually interesting.

But remember that good old Jose Carioca's home country was Brazil, so it would be a built-in character tie-in. (Jose is still one of my favorite Disney characters, so this would not upset me at all!)

Time will tell, I suppose.

(Nice shot, even though he suould probably be speaking Portuguese rather than Spansih...)

Is it me, or is that a VERY awarkward way to hold a cigar ?

Are you kidding? Of course it did. I don't think the original Journey was quite as good as the Mansion, but it was certainly within shouting distance. Both rides had length, technical brilliance and detailed theming. The advantage the Mansion has is the classic haunted house subject--it taps into our primal fears and our collective knowledge of spooky places and things gleaned from books and movies. Imagination as a theme has no built-in associations and so it has a tougher time resonating with guests.

I'm somehow 100% confident that if we get a Brazil pavilion with Jose as host, he won't have a cigar anywhere on him. They'd let him parade around with a severed badger head before they implied he indulged in tobacco.

Oh and Lee, Original was TOTALLY Epcot's Haunted Mansion and one of the best dark rides on property.

That would be a true statement if Epcot had been a total piece of crap.

To mention ANY version of Journey alongside the Haunted Mansion is nuts.

Sentimentality sometimes gets out of control.:hammer:

Uhhhhh...no.

Original JII was definitely very close to HM's level. I'd like to hear a reason why it wasn't.

Eh...it's all opinion. Different strokes and whatnot.
I thought Imagination was just...ok. I rode it every time I went, but had/have no real emotional connection to it at all.
Of course....the same is true for me with all of Epcot.

But Mansion? Timeless and awesome.

My fingers would get tired listing all the reasons Journey is vastly inferior to Haunted Mansion.

Let's just say there's a reason HM is an all time beloved classic attraction, and a reason JII has been completely changed more than once and is constantly rumored to be going away.
