American Idol: Season 8!

I was surprised again (as I was for the Disco week) thinking that this would be a train wreck. They all did decent jobs. I agree Danny really hit it, Adam was again over indulgent, but he sure is an entertainer! The clarity of Adam's voice, even when he is screaming is just impressive.

It may sound weird, but I think Simon's comment that Allison might be in trouble was an attempt to help her get some additional sympathy votes, as she clearly wasn't weakest.

Contrary to Simon however, I thought Matt was just OK, with an average presentation. Based on my assessment of performance, I thought he was weakest of the 5.

From here on out however, all are solid, and it comes down to a personality contest. With that, I see Allison leaving next.

I agree...It was far from brilliant like Simon said...

I agree...this week was really great for me. But Danny...Danny brought out the Danny I've been missing. That was such a great performance by him, for me. So glad to see him sing like that again.
Well said.

And seriously...? Adam? How is it this guy can do no wrong in most of the judges eyes? Sure that one long note was amazing... but I thought he was all over the place and over the top aside from that.

.
agree, I think Simon does that to help who he wants to succeed.

It was time for Matt to go - two weeks ago. I'm glad Allison was in the top two!

Natalie Cole looked good! Sounded pretty good, too. And I liked Taylor's shift to a more southern country rock sound. He looked great - and the song could be a hit for him on the country stations.

I had a brief glimmer of hope that Adam might leave... :lookaroun

What?

He's, um... Odd.

Glad that Matt finally left. I think the judges wasted there save and will be regretting it next week.

Taylor is finally doing music he sounds good doing. We saw him in San Antonio the year he started touring. The music he was doing just didn't quite fit him. Was it me or did Natalie sound, um, "bad" tonight?

I'm not sure, but I believe someone had mentioned that the "save" had to be be used by a certain date, and it was use it the week they saved Matt or loose it. I don't know if that is fact or not.

If we got rid of everyone that was odd, that would leave no one at WDWMAGIC :lookaroun

...yea, I was thinking the same!

The save was only available before the top five. So they only had one opportunity left if they didn't save Matt. The only difference it made is either Lil or Anoop would have made it to the top five instead of Matt and been eliminated last night anyway.

Monty you are correct. I was not thinking when I said that last night. As per the americanidol.com FAQ page:

How does the judges' "save" work? Up until the Top 5, the judges, if they unanimously agree, have the option to save from elimination the contestant receiving the lowest number of votes. They do not have to save a contestant, but if they do it can only be done once during the season and the following week two contestants will be eliminated.

I am just so bored with this season. I have no favorites.

I'd love to see gokey or Adam go home next.

Kris and Allison are decent.

This week is rock week so I hope they at least do some songs I like without butchering them. Slash is the mentor. No Doubt and Daughtry (YUCK!) will be performing on wednesday.
I love Daughtry!

I think Adam and Alison didn't do enough to make the songs their own and I think Kris and Danny did too much in making theirs their own.

I actually liked Kris and Danny's duet best of the night.

It'll be interesting to see who goes. All things from tonight taken together I'm thinking Kris, but it could be anybody.
