I agree with what someone said a few posts ago about Idol taking over the world.

Please stop trying to take over the world Idol! When you first came out it seemed like a different concept for a show. But now that we have seen you for 6, 7, 8(?) seasons so far did you ever think of taking a hiatus? Well, I suppose you'll be vacationing in WDW for a while.

Wait a second....people singing on stage in front of friends and family who prob ably shouldn't be up there in the first place....what we might have here is just a huge karaoke lounge!

Well, unless I'm really drunk there's no way I'll be participating, but good luck to everyone brave enough to get up there and sing.

I'm still holding out for a Lost ride.

It's great art, but I have to post what my mom just said...

"Why are we burning LMA in the background? Is a nuclear war going on?"

To which I added...

"No, it's the sky from 300."

:ROFLOL:

Why couldn't they have put this in Downtown Disney .. You know at the Former Rock N roll Beach Club

I would love to be picked as a judge....
I can see the headlines now in the Slantinal.. "Girls dreams of becoming a singing superstar are Crushed at Disney's ollywood Studios"

Is this just a glorified Karaokee contest. i read somewhere that Universal is closing The jazz club and converting it to a karaokee place

You DO realize Disney isn't going to let it get to a point where someone feels bad about being up there, dont you? Disney will find a way to rework the show so that it fits with the Disney image.

You know, I always hear Imagineers say "For all the great ideas that get put through, theres about 20 that don't!" I wanna know what other 20 options weren't able to bypass an American Idol attraction! :hammer:

Merchandising, merchandising, where the real money from the attraction is made. Dawg (with Randy's face) T-shirts along with Dreadful(Featuring Simons Face) T-Shirts, American Idol-the Coloring Book, American Idol -the Lunch box, American Idol-the Breakfast Cereal, American Idol-the Flame Thrower

Or Better Yet
Mickey, Minnie and Donald as Randy, Paula and Simon

Ok, ACTUAL press video (not joking)

It's a nice pointless little clip that shows how stupid this idea is.

Well if they will be needing very critical judges from the audience to fill the Simon role, just pull people off this blog.

It's a shame, but you're exactly right about that.

Disney keeps the theater empty, people complain. Disney puts something in the theater, people complain.

Why would Disney even bother to listen to our opinions?

There was barely ANY complaining about the lack of show there. Once and while I heard a few "Hope they put something there"-type remarks. no real complaining.

They really are switching the theme of this park--from the Hollywood of yesterday that never was all the way to current pop culture. At least we get something new.

I'm not thrilled with this. I would rather see another ride or good show. However, the positive side is this will help the lines at DHS. We all know the lines there for the big rides can be horrible. Let's cross our fingers in hopes that two things will happen. One - shorter lines. Two - a better attraction comes along and AI is just a space-filler.

I can't honestly say whether I like this or not. I'm not really that big of a fan of American Idol, but a lot of people are. Hopefully Disney puts their signature twist on it and makes it entertaining, but I guess all we can do is wait and see. The building looks pretty neat though.

And lastly American Idol-The Doll (pulls out Simon Cowell plush)

"You are the WORST singer ever!"

adorable.

I don't hate the idea as much as some board members here, but does Disney really think that this is what Disney's Hollywood Studios needs?

-Indiana Jones ride: Although DHS has 2 of WDW's best thrills, it could always use more. The park does not have many actual rides, so why not something based on Indiana Jones (whether it be the Disneyland ride or a roller coaster)?
-Alien Encounter: I really think AE would be a perfect fit for the studios. The Studios seems like a more acceptable location for such a scary show, and it has a great sci-fi theme/cool special effects. It could go in "Lucasland" near Star Tours and Indiana Jones.
-Pixar rides: With the establishment of Pixar Place, I hope Disney actually plans to build some new attractions there. Disney has a lot of material to work with (Incredibles, Ratatouille, Cars, etc), so Pixar Place should definitely get some attractions besides TSM.

Disney's Hollywood Studios has so much potential, but I'm disappointed so far in the currently known plans for it. Don't get me wrong: it's nice that Playhouse Disney was updated, BPB and TSM look cool, and HSM/AI may actually be popular for a while. But I think one big E-Ticket attraction would do more for the park than some new shows, a ride and a parade.

Hi all!

I haven't read through the seven pages of thoughts... I'm sure they are all great!

I'm really excited that the Superstar Studios, Doug Live and ABC Theater will be getting some use. By the looks of the concept artwork, it appears they will be taking the entire building (including Sounds Dangerous). If this has already been mentioned I apologize!

Not sure how it is going to work the hole show thing and all, but hey, I will give it a try. I like American Idol and I think this could be fun. I am not so worried that Idol loses popularity in the next 3-5 years, this is very consistent with Hollywood Studios. Studios are setup to film a show or such, that maybe lasts a few years or 10 years, either way, they make their run, and the they tranform it to another show. I think this would be great for DHS. I just hope they do open it later this year as we are booked for December.
