I hate having to complain about the new things being added to the parks, because it sounds like we are bashing anything new. But, I have a few importaint concerns regarding this attraction:
1. Crushed spirits.
If they are actually trying to make this show like American Idol, then they had better be prepared for the tears, the shouting, the anger, and the humiliation that not only comes with the show, but makes it what it is! American Idol thrives off of viewers that just want to laugh at the bad performers. And thats fine, when you are watching it in your own home. But when you are actually there, what kind of a reaction are we going to get from the audience? Or from the performers?
And if they don't want people to come to the show for this, then why are they hyping it as American Idol?
I would be excited to hear the good singers, and would love to cheer for anyone participating, but will it happen during every one of their shows? What if we get some hecklers in the audience?
2. Who is this show made for, the people participating, or the people watching? I'd almost liken this to the Dream Suities, a highly marketed attraction that only applies to a very small percentage of guests. I'd like to think that a 45 minute show would include plenty of entertainment from good singers, but what if they aren't that good? Won't it feel strange witnessing a huge critique of some poor guy's skills?
3. How are people going to take rejection? In front of a crowd of theme park guests no doubt? Millionaire was fun because it involved everyone, and the person playing didn't feel crushed after loosing. It was more like, "oh well!"
I don't want this attraction to fail. I want it to be good, and hope that my concerns are unneccessary. But when the concerns rise up so easily, I can't help but worry.
