All DHS, all the Time

Yeah, in a way. unfortunately it sounds like it was scaled back to a standard omnimover. Of course if I was king :king:, I'd order the clone ride system but reimagine it as a Princess/Frog ride. That way you save money on the ride system but you get a unique ride for WDW.

As much as I would like an original, LM is seriously underused. That show is terrible. So terrible I only call it that show.

Well that and it costs a couple hundred million dollars. WDW is also not getting an Indiana Jones ride similar to DL or Tokyo because the system is already used at AK. Same thing.
None of these was a good enough argument 6 months ago for Pixarland...

That show used to be the longest wait in the park prior to Tower. Gives you an idea of how much that park has changed.

Just a thought when I was doing two things....reading restaurant reviews and leaving the Epcot Center all the time thread and thinking about DHS.

I definitely visit DHS for many reasons. Love the 50's and Sci Fi and wonder why nothing else opened restaurant wise in the park.

I love the Derby too and love the 30's & 40's feel of DHS, especially the music and architecture as you walk into the park and down Sunset Boulevard toward the tower.

The next themed restaurant I would love to see would be similar to the Derby. I'd love to see a 30's-40's Golden Age place make a comeback.

Disney should do a Ciro's, Trocadero, or Mocambo restaurant/bar in the park. I want to imagine Fred Astaire or Gable walking in. It just goes so much with the theme. Those places were where all the stars hung out during that time. Hence the DHS theming.

It's time for DHS to add new sit-down places. Well, some more attractions would be nice to but that's for another thread.

Where are people getting these wild ideas about Journey to the center of the earth coming to florida and MGM getting a copy of Carsland?

Be thankful you might get a barebones Monsters Inc. coaster

A replica of The South Seas Club from The Rocketeer would fit the golden age image and give a restaurant and dance floor with band/singer for entertainment.

In my opinion HS needs more rides. I feel the place is a waste of my day but we still go one time each trip. I said this in another thread but since going to DL in '98 I have wondered why they don't have an Indy ride at WDW. It is the best ride I have ever been on. Instead we have a stunt show that after seeing once 3 years ago I have never returned to. There are SO many cool rides they could build in HS and I cannot figure out why they haven't done it.

Oh, and the backlot tour is completely lame. The one time we rode it I felt like I did when I was on that train in AK that we affectionately call "the train to nowhere".

You couldn't be any more right. There's simply not enough to do, especially if you're a person not interested in the shows and too chicken to ride ToT and RnRC.

can't believe it took until post #32 for someone to suggest tearing the hat down!!

personally i think that dhs lacks the strength of distinctly themed "lands" that mk, dak has. i would prefer it to be rethemed into old hollywood (engulfing sunset boulevard), pixar place (engulfing mickey ave and animation courtyard), behind the scenes (covering an area from studio backlot to indiana jones) and classics land (assuming there is space to expand the park in some direction, perhaps behind star tours?).

personally i would like to see:
* the hat torn down!! (to bring back the old hollywood feel to that area of the park) and GMR updated (add a couple of new scenes from some modern classics ie platoon? rocky? the graduate?)
* pixar place expanded (the MI coaster? a nemo water ride? move pizza planet arcade over? bugs life playground?)
* plus the backlot tour so it at least resembles a genuine studio tour (obv we know it's not...but it can always be faked, that's the magic!)
* little mermaid ride (in the classics land)
* pinocchio's village with dining and a dark ride (in the classics land)
* hunchback of notre dame show!! (in the classics land)
* aladdin flying carpet ride (similar tech to soarin') (in the classics land)

also, dhs is really lacking an iconic focus (esp. if the hat goes). i would like to see a much larger version of the earful tower built (afterall, this is what i remember as being the icon of mgm when i was younger, it's just that wdw has become too big for it to stand out anymore) and placed either where the pin shop is at the main entrance/where echo lake is (as the entrance to behind the scenes.)

if these ideas were done (i know it's obv not realistic) then there's no way you could call dhs a 1/2 day park!

anyways, just my tuppence!!
