All DHS, all the Time

You're right, I never thought about that, but I'm just wondering what they were thinking when they planned DHS then. Why did they insulate themselves and close themselves in? I would think that they'd plan and leave extra space for expansion in the future then. OK, maybe DHS was never going to be as large as Epcot, MK, etc. but still. Kill off some shows and put a few more attractions in. I'm sure they didn't want to duplicate the hub plan like MK but still. I always get the feeling that DHS was never as intricately planned as MK or Epcot was. I have a feeling that is why DHS is the way it is now. I love the park but it is still lacking in vision and direction somewhat. Is it just money or do they really not have a solid vision of exactly what they want there or what they would like DHS to be. Where is the five year plan? The 10? Er, the 20????

Just my two cents. I know the vets on this site know a heck of a lot more about DHS than I do.

I agree. They just didn't give themselves a lot of space. The rush to get it completed before USF really hurt it in that way.

Dhs somewhat irritates me. NOT that I don't like the park (because I do) it's just that it lacks that special feel that MK EPCOT and AK all have. I have to agree I don't think Disney had too many intricate plans for the park other than an old Hollywood theme. However, I know there are many people who would disagree with me but, this is just my opinion.

I would like to see a GMR rehab, and also a new backlot tour. Another stage show would be nice too (like beauty and the beast... Not the little mermaid one). And of course some more expansion over at pixar place (if possible).

I would like to see some nice updates on DHS. I realize we just got Toy Story Mania not too long ago, but the park really needs some updates. The shows could use some rehabs/replacements.. Star Tours needs a refurb.. Great Movie Ride needs a refurb.. obviously growth in Pixar Place... and a Fantasmic refurb would be nice - especially since Disneyland is getting a nice Fantasmic upgrade. (Not to mention returning to once-a-night Fantasmic shows, at the minimum.)

I really do enjoy DHS, but there's just something missing from the park, like others have said, that gives it... definition, I suppose. DHS still just doesn't seem like there is too much to do there. They don't have too many attractions either, compared to Magic K or Epcot. I'm not sure if they planned to originally make MGM/DHS a non-full day park or what.. ::shrugs::

I'll always love the park, just doesn't seem fully complete, yet.

As great as Fantasmic! is, I'd really like to see it changed to fit the DHS theme. Instead of all the Disney villains, why not have Mickey going through classic movie moments.

love that idea...i also don't see the correlation between aerosmith and dhs? perhaps that could be rethemed to be a journey through the history of disney villains...

SIDENOTE: maybe i made this up, but was there once a section of rnr where a car (just the headlights) would nearly drive into the side of you? or have i just made that up?

Maybe...just maybe...you mixed RnR and Test Track in a dream and are thinking of the tunnel/truck section in Test Track.

Though I do feel like I vaguely remember headlights atleast in the que area just before loading...

Anyone have more insight?

You didn't make it up. It happens near the end of the ride, near the point where the track makes a little hop up and over itself under the rollover loop. Not much to it, just lights and a horn.

Did not know that. Would love to see that back in action.

Pretty sure it's still there.
Watch a video of the ride.
After the big donut you run a stop sign and nearly get hit. That leads you into the final bit before the brakes.

The best attraction at Disneyland (Indiana Jones Adventure) really needs to be added with a different theme to DHS after Star Tours 2 opens up. That would be the biggest addition to the park since the Tower and Sunset and would do wonders for crowd dispersion in the park.

I just can't think of hearing a horn, or any real lighting. I'll pay close attention next time I'm on.

On this video (supposedly shot by some guy named "Smith"...sounds like an alias...:lookaroun) you can hear the horn, but the camera is not turned towards the lights.
Just after the donut and after running the stop sign near the end before entering the VIP parking area.

Agreed, it would really be a magnet for bringing people into the park.

I would still like to see the finalization of seperating the park into "lands" as it should be sometime in the future -- Pixar Place (with more attractions added), Lucasfilm area, and the other parts grouped up to make individual areas

Muppet Studios.

It will happen. Even if I have to MAKE it happen.
