I thought the guys did about as good as they could tonight. Here's how I would rank it:

6. Jordin - Why did she pick that song? I'm sure there were others in the catalog that would have fit her voice well, but she picked maybe the worst song choice for her voice that should could have possibly picked. She'll survive, but it was below par tonight for sure.

5. Chris - I think it was ok, but still not good enough to get through to the next round.

4. Melinda - I though she growled way too much through that song. Not her best, but not bad.

3. Lakisha - Started out rough, but closed it very well. Again, I don't think she makes it through to the next round, but did well tonight.

2. Phil - What a hot streak this guy is on. He's found his niche and can actually have a career. Nobody thought that a few weeks ago.

1. Blake - He's back!!!! I honestly could care less if the Jovi fanbase started throwing things at the TV during this one. The originality is there and he did things with that song that I never would have expected. Welcome back Blake!
That is right on with what I'm thinking.

As for Blake, it not uncommon for an orginal song to be twisted into a rap version. I really enjoyed it, nice twist. He will go far in a career because he's more then a voice, he is creative.

Vote for the Worst is trying to save Phil
If that's the case, they're no longer entitled to call themselves "VFTW", he's done really well for three weeks straight.

Tonight's bottom two were Jordin and Melinda, but last week's votes will save both of them. Lakisha was horrible last week and better but not good enough this week. Chris was mediocre last week and passable this week. Blake didn't impress last week, but this week he took a tremendous risk - although I don't think it was as good as the judges said, he did pull it off.

With combined votes for last week and this week Lakisha and Chris are gone.

The thing is though it WASN'T a typical rap version. It wasn't rap at all. Listen to it again, he actually sings the song just as he would in a standard cover, but it was everything else that he changed around that made it work. Also I think his vocals were fantastic tonight.

Rap may be a bad term I used. But I've heard artist do that to orginial songs. But many fail, that is why it was such a risk. He pulled it off nicely by leaving most of the song in tact. He didn't over do it.

Blake has stage presence and great instincts. He messed with the verses, but kept the chorus almost entirely intact. Best performance of the night.

LaKisha owned that song. This is the most impressed I've been by her in weeks.

Chris continues to flail hopelessly. He's less talented than Phil; he's just lucky he's cuter. From the awkward dancing to the nasally whine, there is nothing remotely pleasant about Chris' performances.

It was great to see Gina in the audience. I felt so sorry for her, because she would've kicked butt this week. I can hear her cranking out "It's My Life" (my favorite Bon Jovi tune). Oh, well.

I'd say Melinda and LaKisha were tied for tops tonight (and I had doubts either of them could pull it off). They both really dazzled. Phil's vocals put him right at their heels, but I don't think he has enough of a fan base at this point to stay in much longer. Blake was good. The arrangement was very creative, but I'm not a fan of his vocal tone. He should be safe this week, though. Jordin didn't live up to what I expect from her, but her votes from last week should keep her in. Chris should be one of the two going home. He struggles every week lately. The other one going home will probably be Phil or LaKisha, even though they were very good tonight. They've both had too many mediocre performances that will bite one of them this week.

I'm not a fan of Blake at all, but he looks hot with the dark hair...

I thought Phil was the best tonight. Lakisha did well, but she chose a song by Bon Jovi that was more soulful. She didn't embrace any sort of inner rocker. I know that rock definitely isn't her genre, but I think a good idol should be able to show some versatility.

Its a tough call tonite. I think Chris is pretty much gone for sure, but the other I'm not certain about. It could be Phil, but he was fantastic this week. And it could also be Lakisha, and she was also good. But if I had to chose, I'm afraid I'd have to go with Lakisha. She's going to be missed, but I think her time has come.

Bon Jovi still looks so GOOD!!! :slurp:

I was thinking the same :king:

I LOVED Phil tonight! Wasn't crazy about Blake (sorry) though I do understand what he was doing, and that's cool. I was worried about Jordin until I came on here and read that the votes are to be combined with last week's. Hopefully she is safe, then.

Hi..

I agree with ya about Phil. He's come a loooong way and should get the 'most improved' trophy. He's really loosened up a lot and it's made a huge difference in the way he connects with the audience. Also, he's really helped himself by his song choices which fit his style perfectly.

But I tend to disagree with ya about Blake. I find it very refreshing to see a young person willing to throw caution to the wind and own a song with their unique style. When Melinda was singing, the first thing I thought of is that she sounded (and acted) like Tina Turner...so I asked myself if the world needs another Tina Turner. Maybe it's because I lived thru an era when there were plenty of 'fantastic' voices like Melinda and Lakisha and, to me, that sound is worn out.

I didn't think Jordin did as bad as it was made out and I hope she can make it thru cuz that young lady lights up the stage with her smile. And I still think she could win it all.

Chris just didn't impress me last night and, while Lakisha gave a good performance, she fits the profile of so many other Gospel singers that I don't find her unique.

If I had to guess, I'd say Chris and Lakisha may go home tonight. But I wouldn't bet the farm on it.
