Why on Earth does it matter if Rivers of America is shortened????? They made the back of it look spectacular at DL. Star Wars Land is definitely out of place, but saying it’s sad because Walt Disney drew it is on of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Is it because of Star Wars or RoA shortening?
It’s hypocritical to not want RoA to ever change, and it did not negatively impact the park in any ‘real’ way whatsoever as it never needed to be as long anyway. Strange, because many people here are advocating for the destruction of the Subs & Autopia, something Walt also did...

The problem is, many people find that the new film doesn't have as great an emotional arc as the old one. I think that's partially true and it's partially nostalgia.

I think they should stick with the new one in Epcot and Shanghai but go back to the old one in DCA.

That only happens when you're sitting toward the sides though. So it looks fine to the people sitting in the middle.

Soarin 1.0 was classic. Great *real* scenery that can be enjoyed even if not sitting dead center in the theatre. Replacing that with SOSFCQCGI (Soarin Over SyFy Channel Quality CGI), especially on a screen THAT BIG, seriously degrades the attraction. All that's missing is Ian Ziering with a chainsaw...

IMHO the premier 'screen based' attraction in the swamps now is Impressions de France...

I hope so. It really just depends on how the next CEO views the company. Iger sees the studios as the heart of the company, and everything stems down from there. He sees theme parks as an inferior mean of storytelling. The fundamental question is, why are studios allowed to create new characters and franchises, but theme parks are not?

Hopefully the next CEO has a better understanding of the company.

Thanks for posting this. It's too bad so much of it is utterly garish, outside of the shot glass and that metal zipper pull thingee... otherwise I'd be quite tempted to buy some. I should go find my old Spaceship Earth t-shirt. Now that was a classic t-shirt design!

I love all Orlando parks for many, different reasons but I could give multiple reasons as to why I find Seaworld a better 'vacation day' than anything at either Disney or Universal. Yeah it's "crappy" compared to Universal and Disney....but name me somewhere that isn't. You are blessed to have such a wide range of parks in Orlando and Seaworld should be supported for the experiences it offers and not critisised for what it could never be.

I don't get the hate. As I said, every park contributes to the perception of Florida being the must visit place...and tripadvisor gives a pretty good idea that people who actually do visit are loving it. It's ranked above Epcot, for one.

I thought the same thing after my first viewing of NuSoarin, but it has grown on me. Everything but the Taj Mahal works for me, now.

It's easy to get on board when you realize that most of the area that SWL takes up is made of backstage areas and vacant land that hasn't been used since the late 90s. But to admit that wouldn't fall in line with the narrative on here that SWL at DL is an abomination because Walt didn't bless it or because there's no 20 minute slow moving Omnimover ride designed by Marc Davis in it.

That space could've been used for a land that wasn't attached to a single intellectual property.
