A Set of Goofy Observations

I think the "few visuals" are what you see on the giant Globe in the middle of the lagoon. There's a fiery beginning, then the earth appears, followed by animals, humans, technology, etc. The finale looks (and sounds) like a celebration of mankind, then there's a few optimistic lyrics about the future of human civilization. I think the story is quite clear, and without excessive narration.

Without the giant globe with pictures, it's just a score. When I think of one part, I can't really picture what would be on the globe- kinda get what I'm saying?

I get what you're saying, but Disney does provide the visuals. I think that's what imagineer boy was saying - between the music and the visuals, a clear story is told. Nobody needs to narrate the show and tell us what's happy, what's scary, etc.

Even if you ignore the globe, the music does an amazing job. You can tell that the opening is intense, then there's a pleasant middle section followed by an optimistic finale. Then there's the colors of the fireworks (a lot of red in the beginning).

I agree, I don't think any fireworks shows need Jiminy Cricket or anyone to tell you when the villains are coming, etc. Look at ROE, you can tell a story purely through music and a few visuals, no narration needed.

And look at the fact that 99% of the audience for RoE have absolutely no idea what is going on.

The narrator is important for an MK show in my opinion. It also serves as a buffer which gives the smoke a chance to clear ebtween the acts.

I agree.

I've watch RoE since it's opening and for the longest time the only thing I could make out on the globe was that foot walking through the forest.

Great show. May be my favorite, but I have no clue what they are trying to tell me other than "This show is Epcoty".

LOL. I always thought they should produce a show guide to hand out to guests (like they do with the Candlelight).

Head to http://www.wdwmagic.com/Attractions/Reflections-of-Earth.htm and go towards the bottom for a full explaination of the show.

wow, i am shocked at all the dissing going on about Wishes. i think it is alone worth the admission to the park.

the music? perfect! my favourite part of the show is when they introduce the "beauty and the beast" song with the synced fireworks. it is one of the few things that makes this grown man cry.

Wishes is the best show in any of the parks, in my opinion. i don't find it a bit sappy. i hope that they do not change this show anytime soon.

I think the majority would agree with you that it's a great show. I don't think the 4 or 5 people here who don't like it are representative of the general opinion of the show.

Wishes is an overly long Disney commercial to me.

Nope, literally had everything done by 6. We just know how to utilize our time. We saw the parade, saw the Jubilee, and everything. I really don't know how we did it, but we did.

Fine for me.

Splash looked great. The shadow was working perfectly.

There's absolutely NO reason for a lot of vocals during a fireworks show. If anything it really detracts from the experience.

It looked very clean, very good.

They were moving. As for the hats, I wouldn't expect them to come back.

Nope. I've heard nothing about it. Other than having it in our costumes.

MMM was the best fireworks show I've ever seen live. Honestly, it was a spectacle.
So is FitS, it's just more unique, which is a HUGE plus for it over Wishes.

Glad they fixed the Spl projection!
Ya know what...that makes sense. I'll officially stop bashing that part of the show now. :D
My job here is done! :D

That's sadly true. Some do get the symbolism, though, the people next to us at R/C actually got the whole Earth emerging from the Big Bang, though. They must have read up.

Regardless, people still fall for it....They cheer for it. :D People "Oooh and Aahh" for Wishes, RoE gets applause. :D

(Makes me proud...:lookaroun)

Have you seen the show since they upgraded the screens? Every image is VERY well defined now.
Holy crap!

There is no way anyone could get that even after multiple viewings.

Where is Jiminy to explain it? :lookaroun

You have Jim Cummings and Kelly Coffey instead. :king:

Ah! I also forgot to mention how Fantasy in the Sky, and it's park music soundtrack blows Wishes out of the water.

Honestly, park music blaring as the shells go off is something that needs to be brought back. It feels much more genuine than the overly sappy Wishes.

Blasphemy! I LOVE WISHES. And aside from the HOT DOG SONG from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, its my daughters favorite disney song.

Have you seen the current incarnation of Fantasy? The use of park music makes all the difference in the world for me. Wishes does have a catchy tune, but having seen both (and Fantasy being new to me), I prefer Fantasy's formula to Wishes.

Glad your little girl enjoys the song though:)

True statement. I'm definitely the only person that I know who isn't a big fan of Wishes. I get a lot of grief for it but the pyro is definitely good :)

Wishes gets applause as well.

RoE is great though even though people don't understand it.

Yep, several times. We make a point to sit right in "front" and while many more of the images are clearer there are still moments of "was that a yeti?".

You have Jim Cummings and Kelly Coffey instead. :king:
They need to talk more then!

RoE gets WAY more screaming though. People are generally shocked about some of the effects. Chaos is huge for that. The Seawall Pyro, too.

I said that, too.

You need to seriously get your eyes checked! Watched from R/C with glasses and it's crystal clear!

Kelley, yes, Jim, no.
