A Set of Goofy Observations

Are you sure they don't view AK as the new Adventureland and the cartooning of MK's AL is just beginning? So then Indiana Jones might be better at AK.

I'm hoping this happens to TL actually. That Future World becomes WDW's "Tomorrowland" and the MK land get changed to Sci-Fi City or Mavel-Land or something.

I don't get what your trying to say here. Are you saying Disney is basically saying they don't care about alienating a lot of people from MK?:veryconfu

I hope not in the sense of the Toonification.. but in the sense of futurism.

Marvel-land...:rolleyes::hurl::lol:

I used that as the first word after the colon. But apparently "musings" and "news" dont:confused:
Have you asked (nicely) to have it moved back? Our Mods are good about that. :D

It would be one way of pushing people over to Animal Kingdom. :lookaroun

Seriously though, I think a South America land with 2 or 3 IJ attractions at DAK could be awesome!

Then they could do a Jungle Book or S.E.A. overlay of the Jungle Cruise. Stitch in the Tiki Room, and covert the SFR tree to a PatF walk through. Add an amped up FotLK theater and I think it would work.

Yes I'm being serious.

Jungle book, no...But SEA is already there in a sense. It doesn't have to be implicitly stated, the AC references help.

It's becoming a kiddie only playland, something that it never was before. Every new attraction seemingly has to have a cartoon character tie in, and it's really rubbing longtime guests and a portion of the newbies the wrong way.

I really think Disney needs to think carefully about the next addition to the MK, or they risk perpetuating a very bad stereotype about their flagship park.
I think it has already happened.

As much as ETRUNM and SGE are knocked, the underlying trend is to make them more kid friendly. As you say a dangerous route.

Look at the evidence;
Alien Encounter... okay, let`s not go there
ETRUNM
Magic Carpets of Aladdin
Poohs Playground
PotC - not a knock, but had to be plussed to follow the movie
Fantasyland expansion; aside from a family dark ride it is aimed squarely at pre teens.
The Laugh Floor
Buzz Lightyear

Think back to a park with a wide, emmersive Adland, a Snow White ride without a happy ending, a crazy dark ride, a Mission to Mars (or Alien Encounter), Dreamflight, Timekeeper.... and the kids still came.

It`s been said all over; Orlando is far too sweet and covered in gooey, princess driven pixie dust. Magical places on earth don't - and didn't - rely on just this.

Good god JT, I pray you never have a position to affect MK's attractions. FOLTK would be nice in Aland, but PatF wouldn't fit ONE BIT, not to mention that there's no reason for a character overlay for the Jungle Cruise, a ride that is just as popular as Space Mountain numbers wise. SEA would be cool as a backstory(as the AC already is involved), but Jungle Book would be a big mistake.

Guests are tiring of the cartoon overload.

Agreed in full! Unique and differentiated experiences are what is sorely needed not only in MK but in EC and even in Studios, too.

What is ETRUNM, though?

At least that one guy would finally get to see King Louie... :lookaroun

I don't necessarily disagree. I guess it's about finding a balance. You make a good case.

Exactly, balance. A cartoon character here or there isn't bad(outside of Fantasyland, they can toon it up all they want there), but having every single ride be kiddy and cartoony just turns a lot of people off.

I'd personally like to see the MK get more attractions with completely original made-for-attraction characters (and yes that excludes Indy).

And Indy does not belong in AK, completely deviates from the theme. And truly when I think of Indy, I think of DHS! He's a movie icon, and to go on an adventure in the Indy universe is ripe for DHS IMO. Oh well, like Michael said, I would be incredibly greatful if we got Indy and got him anywhere!

BTW Goofy, agreed about Kilimanjaro Safaris. When I first went to AK I was expecting Dinosaur to impress me the most but I ended up not caring for it and LOVED Kilimanjaro the most.

It always has been. You need to find attractions that DO appeal to everyone, but at the same time, have individual demographics, too. Not EVERYTHING can overlap.

Oh, and iguanas? Are you referring to how when subjected to extreme cold, iguanas "freeze" and go into a coma like trance? It's been all over the Miami news, this week, as iguanas have fallen out of trees onto people.:lookaroun

Agreed! Especially for adults, teens, and preteens.
